Boston College Season Thread: PART II

Re: Boston College Season Thread: PART II

Thanks for the kind words. It won't last forever, but the ride is great. The kids love playing for Jerry and they respond to the teaching they receive. Especially Milner.

My thinking is, if they make the final, I might fly down Friday and leave Sunday. Taking 3 days in a row from work is not cool with my boss, even though I have plenty of sicks days in the bank.

Jeez...what if you wanted a legitimate week long vacation? I went to Disney in early March and am going to Detroit the Thursday of the FF. With BC playing in Florida, I should have just booked my Disney trip around the FF and ditched the Sox opening day trip. The most epic fail on my part.

Re: Boston College Season Thread: PART II

It looks like most fans are pegging BC a shoe in for the title and an overwhelming favorite. Just think about that. Think about how last year ended, who was lost, and how ugly things looked coming back from Maine. Is this really happening?

Re: Boston College Season Thread: PART II

Boston Coll. is about as business like as possible. They were the only team of the four FF teams to not put on "championship" hats and glom for the camera like they won something this weekend. They shook hands, got off the ice like they just beat Providence in January. I cant remember a team as focused as this one. They obviously have great on and off ice leadership and I expect them to win again in two weeks. Great job by Milner, too.

There's a lot of truth to that, and I'm picking BC as well (yeah, I'm going out on a limb).

But I don't fault a team like Union for celebrating its first ever FF berth. For their program, it *is* a big step. For BC, its impressive that they've reloaded as smoothly as they have. But winning an NCAA regional isn't a lot more surprising than beating PC in January. During Maine's run, I remember thinking it was a s****y year if they *didn't* get to the frozen four.

Again, that's no knock on BC at all. For some teams, there just isn't anything left to celebrate except titles. Or should I say, trophies. :)

(no offense here)

Calm down. You sound like Patman or Monty on the Lowell thread.

Re: Boston College Season Thread: PART II

Haha fair enough, but I don't think anyone expected this type of year going into the season and especially after the trip to Maine. It'd be one thing if last year's team sat at 14-10 and then ran the table to the FF, but it's not. Maybe you had higher expectations than me. I just think it should be noted that this could easily be York's best coaching job ever...and that's saying something.

Re: Boston College Season Thread: PART II

Has there ever been a goaltender in HE history to win the triple crown (GAA, Save % and Win %) and not even be an honorable mention on the league's all star team?
These are just for league games (Milner's stats would even be better than shown here)

GAA Milner 1.85 vs Carr 2nd at 2.17
Save % Milner .928% tied with DeSmith
Win % Milner .842% vs Carr .688%

I didn't make a big deal about it at the time, but ya...who is the best goalie in Hockey East right now? I don't think it's close.

Re: Boston College Season Thread: PART II

If anyone DVRed the game (watching it now as I "work" from home)...check out the play Carey made on the first goal. Not only keeping it in at the blue line from his ***, but then busting his *** to the net and getting the initial shot on goal that led to Mullane putting it home on the rebound.

The benefit of ESPN3, will look again tonight

Despite no goals, he stood out to me this weekend. Especially forechecking up a couple of goals in the 3rd, relentless.

And obviously not entirely the same, but Wey's fluke goal reminded me of Sneep against Yale back in 2010...

That was a solid play. Seems like he and almeida alternate being "on" at any given time. Would be nice to see both of them go crazy at the same time to go out on a high note

Re: Boston College Season Thread: PART II

BC is less of a 'shoo-in' this year than they were in 2007 (?) when Michigan State beat the Eagles in the Championship game. Back then, people weren't wondering whether BC would win the game, but rather by how much. So it is absolutely possible that BC roars by Minnesota and then gets stoned by either Union or Ferris. Which is why we like this game.

Re: Boston College Season Thread: PART II

Oh, I'm certainly not calling them a lock to win it all. That's just what I've read from a lot of non-BC fans on here. Minnesota won the WCHA for a reason. Yes, they had one bad period against UND at the Final Five, but they showed some balls and ended UND's season yesterday. As York always says, not easy to do. Especially when it's your biggest rival. I think that helped BC in the 2006 meeting with BU in Worcester.

Hard not to hate the fact there's now a long layoff when they're playing so well. Wish they were playing this Thursday.

Re: Boston College Season Thread: PART II

Gotta bring the A game to beat anyone left in a 1 game scenario. Anything less, and the team could easily lose to a team as talented as Minnesota.

I would say "York will have the boys ready" but I think the boys have gotten themselves ready on their own.
