Re: Boston College Season 2014 - 2015 Thread: PART I

You mean they or Jacobs are too cheap to pay for one. They're living off the good will of the last cup. But hopefully Pasternak can provide some missing offense until they let him go when his contract is up. Let's face it, they more interested in the dollar which is their bottom line but not necessarily the fans. They don't want to pay a player when it is time to resign one.
There's a salary cap. They've signed some key players (Lucic, Krejci, Bergeron, Rask and others). Who do you want to dump for a Seguin? Who do you want to dump for Eichel? Remember... if you want to sign a high cost guy, you have to dump equal salary or numerous players to sign one. Want to dump Chara? Seidenberg?

Given their success since Harry Sinden retired, I can't now, nor could I before, blame it on Jacobs. Harry Sinden made himself a heck of a living putting a mediocre product on the ice, and money in his boss's pocket. When the B's changed management, it didn't take long for them to become a Stanley Cup contender, and they will contend again this year. There was no direction or plan as to the on ice product under Sinden. Today, there is a plan as to what system/product the management/coaching staff wants on the ice. They're doing a pretty good job of sticking to the plan and building a quality product, IMO.

Yes knowledgable BC fans know that here who have watched this team.

They have to bring it every night or game and have to play error free hockey. There is very little room for error on this team.
Maine is in that same boat in that they have to bring it and play mistake free. Sunday afternoon was the first time I've seen it this season

Perhaps if Seguin hadn't been caught boinking the wife of another player he'd still be with the team. He also got caught with the GF of another player.

too bad it's a weekday. We season ticket holders always have great home schedules to look forward to, such attractive dates we are afforded  The really great dates are the 4 o'clock saturday afternoon games , all saturday games should be such. Anywhooo, every game is big for the Eagles with almost no wiggle room at all. It's a game we have to have. Wither Cango tonight?

Yep... gotta get a win tonight at home, or a season sweep at the hands of Merrimack is looming.
Lawler Rink is becoming one of the toughest places to win in Hockey East.

Re: Boston College Season 2014 - 2015 Thread: PART I

Anyone know how long it had been since Merrimack has won at Conte (assuming they have ever won at Conte)? My guess is more than 25 games ago. An absolute house of horrors for the Warriors.

Also, extremely rare that MC would be the higher ranked team in this match-up. Eagles have 4 games in hand (MC has played fewer HE games than anyone else).

exactly, big game. want that 1st round HE bye (and don't want to see UMass come to Conte again...)

Merrimack last won at Conte Forum on October 31, 1997. The score... 6-4.

I heard you actually have some 18 year old freshmen. Did Dennehy lose a bet or something?

This game will have big implications come Selection Sunday as will the two with Vermont coming up in a few weeks. Need to win all 3.

Re: Boston College Season 2014 - 2015 Thread: PART I

Heck of a play by savage to set up 2nd goal

They are using the d a lot tonight for shots from point too...good to see

Re: Boston College Season 2014 - 2015 Thread: PART I

OK... a win is a win is a win, ugly as it may be. :)
Interesting pre-game introduction of the BC staring lineup... turn down the lights, and then... they play funeral music. W_T_F is up with that?

Re: Boston College Season 2014 - 2015 Thread: PART I

i liked the way we played tonight, i thought it was one of the better games this year. We just dont have the guy that can consistently put the puck in the net. Lot of shots right at Tirronen but he's really good. Felt bad for Cango, he needed that one and had anther great look but was stoned . I thought he played well though and was flying all over the place. Fitz was good too. Smh at Matheson's gaffe, Jesus. Crowd was not bad for a wednesday night at 4188 but i was surprised at that number, they must have been all on the home side. On to Yukon to try to split the season series with them:eek:
