Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Hope Campoli's OK. Sitting upright on the stretcher is a good sign that it's not serious.

In looking at the depth of BC's incoming classes for this & next Fall, it appears the staff anticipated losing Demko, Santini & McCoshen, and possibly 1-2 forwards this offseason. I think they knew they'd have to reload up front in 17-18 w/ the graduating Seniors and the expected early departures of Tuch, Sanford, Wood if they had returned. I imagine the exodus of forwards caught may have caught the staff by surprise.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Good god, does anybody want to stay at BC anymore? Seems lately like almost everyone with eligibility remaining can't get out of Chestnut Hill fast enough.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Just think of all the PIMs BC lost though! Give 'em the Charlie Holt award right now

Looks like they are starting to unveil their incoming recruits for this year. Listed as 13 guys coming in but only revealing one at a time. Going off of Heisenberg's info, here they are. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

G: Woll, Edquist

D: Moore, McInnis, Mattila, Campoli

F: Booth, Cotton, McPhee, Walker, Graham, Grando, Martan

*One thing I still haven't seen anything on is if Chris Birdsall is done with hockey or not. There was some speculation on that based off concussion issues.

Aside from that, it really ends up being a normal sized roster. Lost 4 guys listed as Dmen, bringing in 4. Lost 6 guys listed as F, bringing in 7. And of course that's without knowing the scholarship situation.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

If anyone can correctly predict lineup for game one, I'm bringing you to Foxwoods with me

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

And if you want to look ahead further, they will lose 5 F and 1 dman next year:

White
Fitzgerald
Cangelosi
Calnan
Gaudreau

Savage

Currently set to bring in:

Tolvanen
Cassetti
Hutsko

with the potential to also bring in Carreau and Tortora. Currently no replacement lined up for Scott Savage. Barring Casey Fitzgerald bolting after this season, they would still have 7 dmen back for 2017-2018.

Are Graham, Grando, and Martan being accelerated? IIRC Walker was originally part of this class but had been pushed back a year.

Regardless, BC needs the bodies up front. I wouldn't be surprised to see some growing pains amongst their true Freshmen against older competition, but it might pay off when they're upperclassmen since this crop appears to be mostly 4-year types.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Graham and Grando both played in the USHL last year so I think they are locks to be among the group coming in. Based on age and level of competition I think the last spot would be between Martan and Carreau and I am pretty sure Carreau was headed to the USHL for a year. These are just guesses on my part though.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

I think I got last couple spots wrong, didn't realize the BC blogger had a chart for this. He currently has them bringing in 6 forwards so I think he is one short. He also has three of his current six that Heisenberg did not have:

Michael Merulla
Ron Greco
Julius Mattila (brother of dman Jesper)

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Thanks for the heads up on that. Probably looking at this instead:

F: Booth, Cotton, McPhee, Merulla, Mattila, Greco

Are they bringing in 7 forwards to replace 6 because they also lost Bracco after last season started, or did they fill his spot mid-season?

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

So in goal this season it's Woll, Edquist, Milosz and maybe Birdsall

That's my assumption.

Are they bringing in 7 forwards to replace 6 because they also lost Bracco after last season started, or did they fill his spot mid-season?

I didn't include Bracco in my calculations as he was not on the roster at the end of the season. They did bring it a couple players midseason last year but neither was a forward. One was a goalie and one a dman.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

So a more direct answer could be yes. That could be why. Just for more depth/numbers perspective.
