Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Is it still The 99 that's right off of 290? You can park and eat there. It's a quick walk and then easy access to get back onto 290 when you leave.

I admit to not doing much to show I am a Catholic but I don't eat meat on Fridays during lent and my Dad CERTAINLY does not! Need to find myself some pizza as I don't eat seafood.

Was your father in the class of 1970 at BC?

Will have to check the year but he was born in '48 so that sounds right to me!

And of all Fridays.....Totally hear you on that but will say I think the 99 has some nice pasta dishes.

Reading here and on the UML thread has been interesting with regards to these games being Easter weekend. It's not my Easter so the dates don't affect me at all but I get it's a concern for many. Last year the Frozen Four fell on Orthodox Easter weekend. If I wasn't coming down with the worst cold I've ever gotten that night, I was going to head to church right after the championship game for Holy Saturday (it starts at 11:30pm) as a few of my fellow Greek friends who were at the game did. It made it even more of an issue as my team was in it. If they weren't, I may not have gone to the games at all. Like you, I'm not overtly religious but I do my best during Lent to fast when I can and I do go to church during Holy Week. This year our Easter is May 1 and one of the biggest events my department is working on takes place in New York City on Holy Wednesday. It's my job so I cannot not go. To me, when these things conflict, I do think about going vs. not going. It's not an easy choice.

I know it's not an issue for many here, but how do NCAA bowl games get so many people on Christmas Day? Or even NBA games? There are other sporting events that are going on this weekend, including the NCAA basketball tournament. They can't please everyone. Naturally, it would be easier to work around if Easter was the same weekend every year, and the same for everyone.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

99's not a bad idea. After some googling it's right around the corner from where we're staying and a half mile to DCU. Gonna be ticked if we get there and they don't have ESPNU for the NU game.

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Lent ends at 3p when they take Jesus down off the cross and roll the stone over the entrance. All y'all are good to go on burgers and beer.

Trust Mookie

I thought it was over at sundown. Either way, you're good.

Just found out Mezcal Cantina is even closer.

Don't care if they have ESPNU. ;)

Re: Boston College: It's Trophy Time

Anyone else going to Worcester? I know FiveHole12 is going; I'll be there. I believe Chickod is going too.
Yup, 3 of us will be there for some of the PC game as well.

Here's to hoping we see the Eagles that remember how to play lockdown team D and move the puck out of the zone.
The 60:00 version as well. The 20:00-30:00 version sucks.

Bangkok
Oriental city

Is the red-light district (Itaewan?) still there? (Insert joke about the whole city being a red-light district here).

Went to high school in Southeast Asia, visited Bangkok a couple times...

I'll text you Friday to find out where you're sitting.

For now we're 2nd row balcony in the end zone. I'm usually like the pro and buy center ice in advance. But I've gotten stung a few times eating tickets so I waited to know for sure this time around. Always plenty of room to improve seats. Folks will leave after the first game. We'll wind up somewhere around center ice/blue line, unless the end I chose is where the Eagles shoot twice. Then we might stay.
