Boston College Hockey '13-'14: Tournament Season - One Game At A Time!

Re: Boston College Hockey '13-'14: Tournament Season - One Game At A Time!

So it looks like the boys played an intra-squad scrimmage today. Cam Spiro scored. Just sayin...

Linell supposedly was up on the 3rd line and MacLeod didn't participate. Hopefully he is ok and we can keep Linell up front. If that happens I think that means Straight will be in a suit and tie.

Will certainly be nice to have 6 defensemen on the blue line for the playoffs.

Based on EA's writeup seemed like a minor ding for Isaac. Hopefully the week+ off allowed Matheson & Hayes to get healthy

hopefully these games are being heavily advertised to students

Agreed, this weekend is a great chance to have that rare great environment for the HE QFs.

I've loaded up on starbucks double shots to try to stay awake this weekend

Re: Boston College Hockey '13-'14: Tournament Season - One Game At A Time!

I've been hemming and hawing about buying a BC hockey jersey for about a year+ now, and am finally ready to pull the trigger (and empty my wallet).

Here's my issue, I can't decide which one to get! I somewhat prefer the golds versus the maroon (not really a fan of the home whites), but don't know if I should go with the "older" gold or the revamped Frozen Fenway gold.

What are others' opinions/preferred jersey?

My opinion, 2012 Gold > 2014 Gold > Maroon > White.

Oh and about that Cam Spiro thing yesterday.... can we say him not playing is a ConSPIROcy? Camspirocy?

Guys I apologize if I am derailing your threads, I am in full support of BC and am very excited for the game. This 4 PM time really screwed me over though.. the Bruins game starts at 1:30 so will most likely wrap up around 4.. meaning we are probably going to miss the entire first period of the BC game :/ I think I might have to duck out early on the Bruins.. Iggy will understand, it is for the greater good!

Google maps is telling me that TD to Conte is about a hour train ride or a 15 minute cab ride, is that cab time semi accurate? Timing will be crucial here..

I don't want this bad boy to go to waste!

I think 25-30 minutes by cab is safe. Make sure he knows you want to get off on the Beacon Street side which is 75 yards (or metres if you're slow;-)) from the front entrance.

Sweet sweater! :)

The B's game is actually a 1:00 start time and on NESN TV.
BC is a 4 p.m. start, also on NESN.

If you take a cab by 3:30, you'll probably make the drop of the puck at BC. The B's game may be over by 3:30.

Just make the smart decision and skip the Bruins game. College hockey is better.

Wow you are right.. can't believe I over looked that, that is great. Gives us an extra 20 or so minutes depending on puck drop. Boring afternoon game against the Hurricanes I can't imagine there is to much build up and that should help the game start on time.

Haha. I got a good chuckle out of that. Thanks for the tip that will definitely save some time.

It is going to be tight but it looks like we should be able to squeeze it in, especially if I leave the game a little early. I am hoping to be able to track JG down after the game to sign that sweater, already cleared a spot on my wall for it to hang.

If you're unsuccessful, there is a poster who had some success with jerseys who used to come around these parts. Believe his name is hokydope?

Are you coming for the Friday game as well?

Re: Boston College Hockey '13-'14: Tournament Season - One Game At A Time!

interesting quote from york about the bye week courtesy of EA:

"A bye week is certainly not a reward for finishing first in the league," York said. "Hockey players are meant to be playing hockey games."

If I had to guess, the format will be similar next year with the top four teams getting a bye.

Re: Boston College Hockey '13-'14: Tournament Season - One Game At A Time!

and as we lament jackson's style of play, tough to leave out that paul pooley is his lead assistant. what did the pc fans call his style towards the end of his run, dump and suck?

Our flight doesn't get in until 7 Friday so it wasn't an option.. otherwise I would have loved to be there for Game 1.

This is interesting.. if anyone could get me in touch with this poster that would be great. I will take all the help I can get!

Our group is split about 50/50 for Bruins and Flames fans, so I imagine us Flames fans will be exiting TD about halfway through the third. I don't want to miss puck drop at Conte.

I don't think I have been this excited in my life.. I feel like a kid at Christmas.

I 100% agree. This is just York posturing up for his team, trying to take some of the pressure off the Eagles. Classic coaching tactic, but there is some truth in what he says as well. I know for myself growing up playing in a lot of small town Saskatchewan tournaments, if you won all of your morning games you sat for the afternoon and waited to play in the evening finals. It was a big mental battle to stay focused, especially when you are stuck in this rink watching the other teams battle it out, going back and forth about who you will face. I honestly believe that the teams who play in the prelims have a mental edge. Against a team that plays such stingy hockey, this will be a good test for the Eagles moving forward in the tournament.

That was some unfortunate scheduling. Game time is at 7:00... if you're flight is on time, you could probably take a cab and make the start of the 3rd period.

Looks like Paul Carey got the call up to the Avalanche. Great news. What a fantastic hockey player and person, another one of my favorites from the past few seasons.

So... this keeps getting bumped down to page 2. Are we practicing watching ND hockey and falling asleep here?

I took my friend's 10 year old son to a few games during the 2010-11 season. Paul Carey was very engaging with him after the game. Signing an autograph and thanking us for coming to the game. He was such a nice guy. Glad to see he got called up, by the Avalanche.
