Boston College Hockey '13-'14: Tournament Season - One Game At A Time!

Re: Boston College Hockey '13-'14: Tournament Season - One Game At A Time!

Three or more commitments in the last six months from previously committed kids. One of those kids never even decommitted from his school (publicly anyhow). How can the argument be made that BC isn't recruiting committed players when a kid never decommitted from a school to anyone's knowledge? It's been suspected even before the last couple commitments what York was doing

Again, BC is hardly the only school that has landed players who previously committed elsewhere. Tell me, do you happen to know all the details of these situations? I'm fairly confident you don't and neither do I. But, there are situations where kids can't get into Harvard, or soured on the coaching staff/style of play...and of course situations with coaching staff changes. Happens elsewhere and in other sports. I'm not seeing what the issue is. If a kid wants to open up his recruitment, BC should say no? That's foolish.

Re: Boston College Hockey '13-'14: Tournament Season - One Game At A Time!

Last three kids who decommitted and then committed to BC (Milano, Wood, and Bracco), are from NY, MA, NY. Not for nothing, but about half of BC's student body consists of kids from NY and MA who also looked at ND, Brown, and Harvard.

It's also worth mentioning that Ivy schools really open themselves up to decommits by pressuring freshmen and sophomores in high school into committing early. Oftentimes those players continue to improve and realize they can play at a higher level (e.g. Bracco), or they get denied admissions (e.g. Wood). It works out pretty nicely for programs like BC who have scholarships open up late when players leave early.

Maybe it's cause BC is benefitting (though I doubt it) but I don't get the outrage. Recruits changing their mind happens in every sport.

Good point. This is the plus side to the coin for a BC-type program that loses guys early to the pros. And the downside to the schools that lose these kids for recruiting them when they are 14 and 15.

By whom? Dope.

Looks like we have another Kangaroo Court going on here at USCHO. Shocking.

Re: Boston College Hockey '13-'14: Tournament Season - One Game At A Time!

good pick up. had nothing to do with Albie O leaving, could have cared less. Knows Donato for years, Bracco's dad was a goalie at Dartmouth.
interesting tid bit. His family was pretty deep in the BC betting scandal, pretty sure his grandad was one of the key figures. have been known to be wrong in past.
why go to Harvard if your goal is to only play there two years tops

Re: Boston College Hockey '13-'14: Tournament Season - One Game At A Time!

caught this on mike mcmahon's twitter. looks like hockey east will be going to the ECAC format for playoffs now with 12 teams rather than keeping that first round as a one game playoff. those series' will now be best of 3.

Bracco is good, but do you think 2 years at college kind of good? Great hands, but only an above average skater and small. Who would you compare him to at this point in his career? Chris Drury?

What's the history of 5'9" players at BC or hell any players at BC leaving after 2 years?

Hoky makes a good point but for the wrong player.

I would bet even money plus he has that thought in his head. I was surprised but happy when I saw he was going to Harvard, obviously bright as mom is a DR(granted only a foot dr, sounds like a good Seinfeld episode) dad went to Dartmouth but he was literally at a tournament all over the country and Canada every single weekend. I would bet he did ten tournaments between April to August. School was secondary. And we all know the standards of the US Natl teams schools. Very bright kid.

He believe it or not will be the next Jordan Eberlee. That talented. Him and Colin White will kill Hockey East. Drury is a good example but still different

White is next superstar at BC

Will be interesting to see how this group coming in does.

Hannafin, White and Bracco have been playing together for years.

This is an article from the first tournament they ever played together in with each other.

You read it and swear they are 15/16 when in reality they were 7.

They should have gone after Marino last year, going to Yale as well as Burke, who is going to ND.

2 or 3 others have D 1 deals off that team already, Macavoy to BU and Griffin to NU are 2 more. Hats off to the Junior Bruins for seeing the talent and keeping them together for years.

:D

buddy of mine dropped a knife that cut some tendons in his foot a couple years ago. went to a podiatrist.
fast forward a year or two later and he is at his indian (dot) doctor who looked at foot, "brian, what happened here?" buddy told him and dr asked "who did the work here?" buddy told him some podiatrist.
indian dr was incredulous. "brian, do you realize that the foot is the least important part of your body? these are the worst crs there are! you should never waste your time with one of them!!"

we laugh about that all the time now :D

Re: Boston College Hockey '13-'14: Tournament Season - One Game At A Time!

seems to be quite a few butt hurt fans out there on twitter who wouldn't be making a peep had bracco chosen their school. amazing how that works.

Wait people are outraged on twitter?

Which fanbase? I didn't see it.

Nice to see Boyle & Kreider move on (hopefully Kreider will see time in this series, though I'm not convinced). Isn't mookie a pens fan? Ugh

There are some rumblings from the Yukon side that the BC game in Hartford will be a Wednesday in November which makes no sense. Don't think HE is that dumb.

Re: Boston College Hockey '13-'14: Tournament Season - One Game At A Time!

some appear to be. not sure if any one fan base but definitely noticed a badger guy, BU guy, few others. i was reading the twitter accounts of the kid, mike mcmahon and over the boards to name a few.

Are you new around here? Never underestimate how dumb this conference can be.

Let our game at Yukon be on a Wednesday. Their biggest game of the year and no one will go. I'm not planning on going to that even if it was on a Saturday.

Ha fair.

Though I wanted to go and Wednesday makes that unlikely, just need to make sure to bulletproof the windows beforehand.

I was pulling for the rangers, at least now the pens have a chance to advance
Vs Philly they had a 0.000001% shot
Vs NYR they have a 9% chance

So odds increaded a lot :D
