Quinnipiac dominated and swept UML in the regular season for a home-and-home series. They did it with many freshmen on the ice. They would have beat BC as well but the eagles are too afraid to play at the TD Bank Sports Center. Go Union!!!!!!!!

Yes, QU looked very impressive against Lowell back in October.

Lots of rumblings that Boston College star Johnny Gaudreau is close to signing with Flames. MIGHT even play in Sunday's game in Vancouver.

Calgary should trade for Kevin Hayes and reunite the line.

Congrats on a great season, your boys battled to the very end - that would have been quite a comeback if gaudreau's shot had found its way in. I thought you guys were destined to keep the even-years thing going. Would have been a great matchup against the Gophers.

Hopefully next year, with BU and BC bringing in the top three forwards from the U18 team, there will be some memorable games.

Re: Boston College Hockey '13-'14: Tournament Season - One Game At A Time!

Hockey East isn't anymore off than any other conference this year, unless you simply mean it just isn't as good as it normally is. Look at the title game participants. Great teams but their respective conferences were not better than Hockey East this year. Wisconsin, Colgate and Quinnipiac all lost their first game in tourney. Just happened to turn out that BC and UML were in same region. Both could have reached FF if not for that.

And you can't just look at one bad play from Santini and use that as your argument. For the whole body of work this season, it's fair to expect more from Matheson out there. Phenomenal skills but still needs time to put it all together. One is a sophomore and one a freshman, that's also a key difference. I really hope Matheson returns, I think he needs it. There's nothing wrong with saying he needs to improve defensively.

Specifically he needs to make better decisions with the puck whether he is passing or without it. He makes gaffes if you watch him from game to game. Sure he makes good plays too but he when makes a bad decision you notice it and how it led to a goal for the opposing team or great scoring opportunity. That comment by someone that BC tries to be fancy is true. One of the goals by Union was a simple shot on net and Demko left a juicy rebound for a head scratching score.

That power play was very bad. Only 3 shots on net in 5 minutes tells you they got caught thinking they can will their way to score when they needed simple passes and hard skating and good decision making and a sense of urgency was needed. They were not moving the puck fast enough and not getting the shots on net. They were caught standing around and thought Union would let them skate circles around them and Union broke up passes and plays with ease. They were completely out of sync in a crucial situation and Union totally blocked passing lanes and shots and made BC look so ineffective when they had a chance to score a couple at least on a major penalty and change the complexion of the game.

Re: Boston College Hockey '13-'14: Tournament Season - One Game At A Time!

the refs were in fact brutal in bc's favor

brutal

dont care but not pretending it didnt happen

kindof surprised that nobody is talking about the gargantuan hook that led to an immediate turnover that led to BC second goal. all that clutch and grab whining about Notre Dame and then the boys from the Heights play the same game. (oh and I had to love Johnny Hockey throwning punches ONLY AFTER the guy he was jawing with was restrained from behind.... classy, and would not have been allowed had Joey Diamond done it.)

I like Jerry and BC a lot, it is their USCHO fans that are unbearable.

Re: Boston College Hockey '13-'14: Tournament Season - One Game At A Time!

if my info is correct:

Forward (16):

Fitzgerald
Cangelosi
Gilmour
Calnan
Linell
Straight
Smith
Sit
Silk
Richardson
M. Gaudreau
McMullen
Spiro
Milano
Tuch
Sanford

had 17 this year

Defense (7):

Matheson
Savage
McCoshen
Santini
Doherty
Jeke
Hanifin

same as this year considering linell will be back next year. suppose matheson could leave but we'll see.

Goal (3):

Demko
Billett
Barone

all back

gonna need the goaltending and defense to lead the way early at least

you're smart

Re: Boston College Hockey '13-'14: Tournament Season - One Game At A Time!

ya, without the refs, mighty union would have won 10-1. only person i've seen comment on the officiating.
.

perhaps that is because there is absolutely no point in trying to discuss anything with JD and the profrom and almost every other BC fan, save for one, on this board. no point

Here's the update: Can confirm Gaudreau and Arnold will sign with the #Flames, and will be available for Sunday in Vancouver.

tool, i haven't seen it talked about in the union thread nor in the game thread. i've been able to talk about plenty hockey related issues with various people on here. look in the mirror pal, specifically at your own rep.

Edit: FiveHole did you have awesome seats last night? Think I saw you on TV.
You probably saw me. I was front row in the corner where the 5:00 major occurred. That was me convincing the ref it was a 5:00. ;)
