typical game vs UMass. Seems like no matter who their coach is they know something. There is never any space for us anywhere on the ice. Whatever they do against us no one else does and it gives us fits. It's been a while since a Conte loss

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

After last weekend, that was a step backwards. Couldn't convert on early PP chances including lengthy 5 on 3, PK doesn't look good (not applying any pressure or breaking up plays), couldn't make plays coming out of own end, had no answer for umass breaking plays up when they finally got to the offensuve blue line, bad defense including gift wrapped first goal, too fancy at other times

Very disappointing effort

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

Well, that was U-G-L-Y. And now a trip to the house of horrors (Matthews) tonight. It hasn't taken too long for the good feeling after last Friday's UNH game to wear off. And a little irony in Tiefenwerth scoring one of the third period goals. Cody tonight?

Having an off game is one thing, but it is hard to accept watching them get outworked for 60 minutes the way they did last night.

Cody could sure help us at this point (no sterlippo bashing please). Tiefenwerth in our game pales in comparison to Saponari vs BU last night. Will we get the second dose of Saponari? or Cody? or both? They both scored last night. Whatever, i am very skeptical tonight

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

If NU follows suit to what UNH did Saturday and Mass did last night, they will be clogging up center ice. Dump and chase boys... nobody does it better. That is, if you've still got some legs after today's skate. ;)

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

Wow the team has allowed a bunch of goals in 2 games and this is only the 1st period in tonight's game at NU.

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

Ok defense better in 2nd period and offense taking advantage of their goalie Rawlings. BC up 6•3 let's see if they shut them down in the 3rd period.

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

Well, that was much needed. And BU/UNH lost at home. Let's get more than two points next weekend and go from there.

Well that was fun! :D
Pretty good team when we show up and skate. Good job Eagles!

I hope the staff is sending video to the league offices. It's like open season on BC guys these days, and when we hit someone, it's 5:00 and game. Mullane took a nasty elbow to the head on his first shift of the game, the elbow driving his head into the glass. Scott Hansen looking right at it: no call. Matheson goes down on a clear charge: no call. (Matheson would have got 5:00 and game for that hit). Whitney almost gets his head twisted off his neck by a d-man after the whistle: no call.

Throw in some of the crap that went on up in NH last week and it's getting pretty old. Some of this stuff is just hockey... some is flagrant intent to injure. Common denominator: Scott Hansen. Turns his head when it's BC going down... sends us to the box for ticky tack.

Hate to complain about this stuff, but its getting way too obvious.

Wow. That was unexpected. Talk about Jekyll and Hyde from one night to the next. I don't even know what to think at this point.

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

Maybe it's just the pessimist in me but I really can't say tonight helped me forget about that s#@!show on Friday night.

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

They're the best team in hockey east...take it from there.

Don't forget about the Kyle Rau forearm shiver right into someone's grill that caused Whitney to go after him in Minnesota.

That was one nice thing about having Petrecki around (as a freshman) because people feared being knocked out cold. We really don't have anyone, even a Brennan or a Samuelsson. Maybe that could have been Matheson but now he is on thin ice with his accumulated misconducts.

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

OK... ref rant over.

BC came out flying tonight. So did NU, for one period.
Dyroff-Brown-Silk got the start against the NU #1 line. Is this the beginning of a shut down line?
D looked pretty weak in the first, allowing NU forwards to pitch a tent in the crease in front Milner. Tightened up after the first.
One power play had 5 forwards... Gaudreau, Mullane, Arnold with Whitney & Hayes at the point. Was interesting putting all the eggs in one basket, but we have 2 pretty good PP units as they are. This would work well at the end of a game and I'm guessing they were practicing it for just such an occasion. Think we were up about 6-3 at the time.
Isaac MacLeod had a great game. Seemed to step up in a big way after Matheson went down. Nice to see him get the goal. He started that whole rush, stayed in the mix and potted the rebound.
Jeke was a +6. Woot!
Congrats to Quinn Smith on his first goal of the season. :)

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

Great effort tonight! Scary what happens when this team is on a roll. Whitney and Linell were best players on the ice tonight. Defense is still a concern going forward. Matheson injury could be an issue going forward. Let's hope he gets back quickly.

That was the other bozo ref Milea watching the hit on Matheson. Hansen was out by the BC bench near where I was sitting at center ice.
Well that was fun! :D

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

“It’s definitely rewarding, the way we feel right now,” said Whitney. “We had a good week of practice, just didn’t show up last night. It definitely felt good to show up tonight and get the results we did.”

Telling quote from a senior. Reflecting on a good week of practice after what was ultimately a disappointing weekend. There's a whole lot of Jerry York in that attitude.

What was the injury on Matheson? I saw him get checked hard and high, but could not tell if it was his neck, shoulder or head?

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

It's about this time where BC wins every game it plays, roars through the NCAAs, and hoists another banner.

And they lived happily ever after.

The end.
