Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

that iphone, dammit, keeps spell checking my chit!!! i can't believe it didn't let me keep poor bob denver :(

did you try Maynard G. Krebs? :D.............also, seems like after your last post here no one posted for 3 days ;) coincidence? I think not! So, what do we see from the Eagles tonight? I think in the first two minutes we will notice a big change. Wasn't fun to watch but a ***** slap like that has to have an effect. We will see what a difference maker Matheson is as well. (I love when Jerry uses "difference maker" ) With the down time i bet he got some good instruction from the staff

According to the kid the lines tonight are:

Gaudreau-Mullane-Linell
Sit-Arnold-Whitney
Straight-Hayes-Dyroff
Smith-Brown-Silk?

Thoughts?

Not surprised they're trying to get Linell rolling. He's shown some skill on the goals, just hasn't happened enough.
Don't get the 2nd line
Like moving Kevin to C to form a big line but would move Silk up instead of Dyroff

Hate it. Where is 15? And 12's line won't score. Also means only 5 D

1. I like splitting up the big five across three lines.
2. I would have put Gaudreau on a line with two outside the top five, not Hayes. Gaudreau can score on his own, obviously (and dish). Hayes is a passer and I would have liked to see Arnold stay with him. I do like moving him to center though.
3. Like you, I don't get that 2nd line at all.

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

BTW, still gave up three goals in each game against a bad Maine attack. Unless the overall team defense improves, they can shuffle lines as much as they want and it won't matter. So, maybe the shuffling had something to do with team defense and not just generating offense.

- Not a big fan of these changes. My favorite change is that the 4th line could theoretically become a shutdown line.
- Why play Sit at all if you have him on a wing?
- Let's see what Linell can do. Give him a few games up with 11 and 13. If he can't score in a few games then it's time to try something different (Silk?). Can he finish? 13 and 11 will undoubtedly be able to create some scoring chances for him. He does have some speed so that line could get a little faster with his addition over Whitney.
- 3rd line makes me want to hurl. Guess I have to give it a chance.
- Spiro is getting d!cked.
- The PP will have increased pressure to score.

At least Matheson is back. Now if can put it all together like he did early on and provide some physicality without getting booted from a game I'll be happy. I'd like to see this defense not get beat 1 on 1 tonight - like how most D1 teams play defense.

As embarrassing as last weekend was, UVM just lost to Penn State which just lost to DIII Neumann so this would be about as bad as it gets if they can't win the game.

I guess I'm alone, I don't mind the 2nd line. I think it's very good. My only concern with this is whether the 3rd line will score.

Honestly I would think of swapping Hayes with Gaudreau. Gaudreau is more likely to make that line run. But then again, Gaudreau and Mullane have the best chemistry on the team.

When in doubt I revert to "I completely trust Jerry."

I can see it now...Sit scores his first career goal tonight.

.

does removing Whitney for Linell add speed? i dunno, i think Whitney is about as fast a skater as we have. I think Linell is quick and shifty, a little like JG but Whitney the faster skater of the two

Essentially agree with with all of this:
1) Don't get the point of Sit not being C if he's going to play
2) Would be interested to see what Linell does skating with Mullane & Gaudreau, he's shown flashes.
3) Might not want to hurl but tough spot for Kevin
4) Agreed, not sure why he's getting scratched
5) Here I'm hoping Matheson will be huge and we won't have to see the F forwards on the 1st unit (remember Whitney & Ferriero? ) Powerplay has been incredibly cold (1 for last 21) of late

Said it either here or on EA but Saturday night talked about at the game how he hasn't scored one yet, literally 10 seconds later had one of his best chances I can remember and it was shorthanded.

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

Is Matheson back this weekend? Like that kid, he can be a blackbear anytime he wants.

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

Not a good sign when even gaudreau can't convert on multiple breakaway

And uvm scores flukiest goal since colby cohen

Oh and the new player intro blows

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

So far not much different than last weekend. Kudos to brown for that shift on the PK

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

Some puck luck on 2nd goal. Get the lead and follow it up with 5 horrible minutes at end of period.

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

Funny, you put Linell with some good players and he gets a couple of points, go figure? I like breaking up the lines but have a hard time believing that Dyroff has more offensive upside than Silk. Said it before and will say it again, if only Vatrano hadn't got the boot, this team would have 3 solid scoring lines.

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

Gotta start somewhere with the two points, but they turned the puck over all over the ice. Thankfully it was vermont. Lot of work to be done.

Matheson is by no means perfect or polished but you can easily see the difference he makes.

agree on both counts. Matheson was mediocre at best tonight and still was the best out there. I have to say, it seemed like the light bulb went on half way through the second period. They needed a couple bounces and got them, sometimes that's what it takes. We'll take it and move on.

I believe dyroff and silk were actually switched. That line still didn't do a whole lot

Re: Boston College Hockey, '12-'13, Volume II: #JohnnyHockey or #GaudreaubeyBaker?

Yes, there were actually some mixing and matching during the game on a couple/few lines.
