Boston College Eagles 2017-2108 Season Thread

Re: Boston College Eagles 2017-2108 Season Thread

Going in just using my eyes, I would have NU as the favorite. Looks like the data supports that. Unless Merrimack beats BC and NU/Providence is the title game, someone will be playing to get in. Whether it's BC, BU or whoever else.

agree with NU being the fave, not a great draw for them though .

Hide the women and children, those ne'er do wells from North Andover are coming! Actually, the Warriors are far less "Merri-hacky" than they have been in recent seasons. There's no big scary defenseman to leg check your youngsters (Bigos is long gone), and MC averaged less penalty minutes per game than the Eagles (and even less than those "SMT's" from Durham). It's a good thing they keep the penalties down, because their PK is horrific (7th worst in the country).
BC has owned Merrimack in the playoffs and especially at BC. While I can hope for an upset, not likely to happen (Grant, great job on that HE Playoffs KRACH).

Oh, and Jerry York should be UNANIMOUS Hockey East coach of the year.

Not to be ignored, the ladies are on the ice at 1 PM at Conte against the ladies from OSU. A good turnout for BC would be great on Saturday afternoon.

The Frozen Four is on the line. One and out is the rule.

Harvard gets the nod for NESN above this catholic showdown? Sad! At least throw us on NESN Plus..

As far as I know, NESN no longer has a contract with Hockey East (not sure which party did not renew). They have been showing ECAC playoffs for a few years now - they can't show Hockey East playoffs anyway (at least before the semis and finals which apparently they feel is "worthy" of televising) because Hockey East TV is streaming them and charging independently for that. The reason there have been many UMass (Amherst) games on this year is because they went out and made their own TV deal. So it's not about showing the "best" game. It's all about (as usual) money.

He absolutely should be but I'm sure it will be something cutesy like him sharing it with Madigan or something stupid like that.

On top of that, if there was still a deal with NESN they wouldn't be showing the 1 v 10 matchup. Most likely would be the BU-UConn game.

despite the dismal crowds at Conte Forum this year, BC led the league in average home attendance (all games) . Sadly, no school averaged 5000

Re: Boston College Eagles 2017-2108 Season Thread

There was hardly any life out there on the ice. A very boring and lackluster game to watch. BC was outshot badly and lucky to win 1-0.

Someone needs to kick this team in the butt and wake them up.

I’m sure the Womens team will be much better to watch Saturday afternoon 📌

Last night at BU, you could hear the players' chatter during the action. Attendance maybe 1,200. Students on break, but students have comprised a diminishing fraction of attendance at BU for several years now.

It's ironic, the caliber of play has never been better (one man's opinion), but attendance down all over.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2017-2108 Season Thread

BC with 2400 had the largest crowd of all 4 hockey east games
Blame has to go to league for stupid playoff format
CT got a bye but no home game
An interesting development is the Maine-Providence series on NBCSports Boston
Someone probably paying for telecast but can never remember the channel covering college hockey
don't tell the Globe- don't even have list in their sports TV section

Is this the former sportschannel?

Re: Boston College Eagles 2017-2108 Season Thread

BC doesn't deserve the credit for that attendance. Merrimack brought a big student section and band.

They actually did. There was a time in between NESN stints where comcast had a package. Started with Sean Grande and Cap Raeder. And then Eric Frede. Forget how many years but know they did games around '98-'01.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2017-2108 Season Thread

BC’s SOG numbers look anemic through two games, at HOME. If they survive Merrimack they’ll have to scare up more offensive chances to make the HE Final.
