Boston College 2024-25 TV * JG * MG

We all know that it’s the junior and senior classes that win the championships. I’m not a huge fan of taking first round talent because not only has BC not won anything with these players, Minnesota, Michigan and BU have not won a natty with them either.

Two most important forwards are Gasseau and Jevlik. This will be our best senior class in several years. Stiga and Hagens with Briard could be a great line. All you need is one good line in college hockey, but there is no reason BC shouldn’t have two very good scoring lines this coming season.

I also like the fact that this group will back check and with our D core, BC will be very difficult to score on.

Go Eagles!🦅
Didn’t our boys win with Colin Wilson & kevin shattenkirk 🤔

Mookie, thank goodness my Eagles didn't have first round picks like Kevin Hayes, Chris Kreider, Nick Petricki, Krys Kolanos, Chuck Kobasew, and Brooks Orpik - you can't win anything with first round talent, you know. ;)
Those guys stayed 3 years except Kolanos and Kobasew. We have not won anything keeping 1st rounders 1-2 years since 2012. Imagine if Boldy, Newhook, Smith, etc came back for their junior season how many more Natty’s we would have hanging in the Conte rafters.

Having looked at the stats of this year's recruits I don't believe it is as deep as we hoped for. Besides Moore the one that stands out the most for me is Kostadinski. He must be a great defender as his +25 rating stands out far above his teammates. Most of this year's recruits have lots of penalty minutes which should concern us as that has been a problem.

There are exceptions, when DU won in 2024 they also had a lot of young players like BC. Sometimes there are other things that make a difference between winning and losing when teams are close in talent. How do people rate the coaching differences ? David Carle vs Greg Brown for example /

Top programs have excellent coaches and support. Some coaches with less talent get a lot more out of their players

Coaching involves recruiting, game motivation, practices that focus on strengths and weaknesses, tendencies to win big games, off ice preparations, etc

In this century BC has natties in 01, 08, 10 and 12. BU's one natti in 09, which was a complete choke job by Blasi, not sure what the "have not" is about.

mookie responded to a line about BU not winning with 1st round picks.
BU has.
and who gives a shit about “this century”🙄
As in the last decade neither has won.

Even if they haven't won it all, BU has been in the Frozen Four three straight years now. BC has been in one. BU appears to be out-recruiting BC in upcoming classes, at least so far. As a life-long BC fan, I can't see how it can be argued that BC has the better of the rivalry right now. It sucks admitting it, but I've never been the type to sugarcoat things.

Also, does it concern anybody else around here that BC does not have any incoming CHL recruits yet? As far as I can tell from Heisenberg's list, the only other top-tier program that's in the same boat is Minnesota.

Uh the season is 3 months away. Both teams have had impressive recruiting classes the last few years but the final prize is elusive. On paper BU class seems stronger but the game is played on the ice. You don't win is all with Freshman. I think both teams will be at the top of the pile in the East at the end of the season. Goaltending will be the difference.
