Fowler 1.67 goals against average. 6 shutouts. .939 save percentage. He may be surging into final 3 contention for Hobey Baker with mate-Ryan Leonard-28 goals /8 game winners-both lead the country.

That actually may hurt both their chances by splitting some votes. Not often would the top 2 contenders come from the same school so someone else could squeak by instead.

Ryan Leonard is now the highest scoring "Leonard Family Member". His 28 goals surpass the 27 scored by his brother John when he was a Junior at UMass

Does BC get to hoist the league trophy before the Merrimack game, or do they wait until afterward? If they lose it would be rather strange being presented the trophy then. Wonder if resting players with small injuries will happen as well. With Maine and Minnesota both losing tonight BC will have locked up either the overall #1 or #2 seed for the NCAA's with only Michigan State with a miniscule chance left.

BC averaging over 7000 per game, highest by a good amount in history. Second most was last year. Even in the mid 80’s and late 90’s through 2012 etc were 500-1000 less. College Hockey News has lots of old data. Need 7k in the building today and there were still plenty of tix as of yesterday. Who knows what will a HE game at home Thursday draws, knowing the history of small crowds in those games. Kudos to the students! They brought it every game.

Lots of great plays, Perrault, Stiga, Gustafson faked the kid right out of his skates at the Blue line, feed it to Stiga for the tap in. Merrimack did not put up much resistance, lot of shots but not too many of high quality. Nice to see Fowler get the shut out, his 7th of the year. Good win, we are now in the post season with the HE RS title two years running. Congrats to everyone connected to the program.

Nice to see BC is fully healthy with the exception of Jellvik who remains unlikely to make it back this season. And nice to see that BC managed to get out of this game without injury. I did get nervous when Leonard blocked a shot with his foot. Aside from late 1st period and early 2nd period, BC was all over this one. Very few high-quality chances for Merrimack. Stiga looked great so I assume he is basically 100%. Another full week to practice and rest up now.

Fowler with another shutout, seems like he headed towards the Richter Award. He is up to .941 save % to go with his 7 shutouts and 1.62 GAA.

It was great to see the seniors submitted as the starting lineup. Powell was FLYING out there, and when it looked like he may go end to end he dished to Sondreal and it ended up being a tap-in goal for fellow senior Connor Joyce. Gabe was also wheeling and dealing today; his goal totally fooled the Merrimack goalie as it was a no-look shot with I believe Leonard on the other side of the 2-on-1. They did put him out there in the last minute to see if he could seal the hat trick and he did get a very good look but no dice.

I believe this loss locks UML into the #7 spot. I also believe we re-seed so BC will either face Merrimack, NU, UNH, or UVM next Saturday (is the ticket office going to sell tickets for this game or what?). NU with a win could catch Merrimack and take the 8th seed and the last home-ice spot for the first round. But Merrimack has the tiebreaker so NU would need all 3 points to jump Merrimack.

I'll be honest I didn't really like either of the calls on Leonard, particularly the first. Didn't see a replay of him going to the crease with the puck on the 2nd one. Whatever.

The defense is the key to this team and they are looking very good. Gustafsson was all over the place and his deke and pass to Stiga was a beauty. Skahan is coming along nicely and has progressed from the early part of the season, really even just in the past few weeks. I can't believe Hreschuk is a senior - another guy that had great progression and development from his early career. I got the sense once they got a 3-goal lead they started to have fun with it and the D was joining in more but I liked that the forwards were doing a nice job covering for them so that is encouraging to see that going into the playoffs.

Playoff hockey is a different animal and they will need to be ready for it. In the meantime, I hope they continue to practice faceoffs and special teams because that is what is going to win the trophies remaining.

edit - Given that BC can only lose one more game before Selection Sunday and MSU got the bye straight to the semis in the B1G tournament, this likely will push BC's 99% chance for the #1 overall seed to 100%.

With only the DU/CC game not final, CHN just ran the probabilities and BC is indeed 100% locked in to the #1 seed after running 20,000 sims.

#6-#8 is separated by .0006 right now. All Hockey East teams.
BU .5750
Yukon .5747
PC .5744

The PP is clicking at 29% during this recent streak over the past 6 games. Faceoffs have been somewhat better aside from the one game Gasseau was suspended as well.

Looks like BC has finally put tickets on sale for the HE QFs at Conte.

Well, we'll be getting a visit from the NU Dogpound on Saturday night. Two days off in between is likely going to be more than enough time for these kids to recover from having played an extra period+ of OT tonight.

Carmine: You've been around long enough to know that the Dogpound is associated with some nondescript entity along middle Comm. Ave. The Doghouse is associated with an esteemed institution on Huntington Ave. that has won several Beanpots since BC last touched it. Woof!
You must be very careful when posting on an opponent's page anything that can be perceived as a jab. Does this Merrimack win wipe out the D2 Merrimack defeat of the Huskies in the Arena in the 1988 NCAA's first round? I do recall rooting for NU against North Dakota in the Frozen 4 in Providence more than 40 years ago. They did beat UNH 10-4 over and out in the 3rd place game though.

That was a fun weekend, especially after then-Wisconsin AD Elroy "Crazy Legs" Hirsch strolled into a nearby watering hole after the championship game, plunked 10 $100 bills on the bar, and announced "Everybody wearing red drinks on me." I don't think ADs do that anymore. Nobody was going to catch NODAK that year so 3rd place wasn't so bad.

And yes, that Merrimack loss still stings. Goalie (Jim Hrivnak?) stood on his head, which helped get him a few cups of coffee with the Washinton Caps.

If BC wins Saturday, do they play the early game or late game in the Semi round games at the TD Garden next Thursday in the HE Tournament ??? Being the high seed does that mean they play the early game ?

Normally that would be true
Also if Maine advances since games on Thursday it would be fairer for them to get late game
The unknown factor is what NESN wants-Unfortunately influences decision
