Boston College 2011-2012 season outlook

Re: Boston College 2011-2012 season outlook

Boston22's thought was how did he go from a projected 1st round pick to no pick at all? I was wondering the same thing myself.I believe the answer is that these things can fluctuate wildly over the course of the year (how did Ambroz slide to the 5th round?). As you implied, Straight should still be a good college player anyway.

real good college player. The key point is central scouting does not draft the team lists that they use to select from. The teams do. many teams spend more time crossing names off their lists from central scouting than they do using it

If you go to espn and look at the number of ranked kids not drafted it is mind boggling.

In regards to Muse, will go down as top golaie in BC's history, amazing 4 year run and he earned every bit of it. Dont believe though for a second he will ever play an NHL game.

Re: Boston College 2011-2012 season outlook

I wouldn't be shocked if Muse got a game in the NHL. Sometimes you never know what can happen with injuries/organizational depth. That's a ways away though. I never thought Scott Clemmensen would have the solid NHL career that he's now put together.

As for Straight, can't he go back into the draft next year?

Muse, 5'10 or 5'11" tops.

Clemmensen 6'3"

I know the heights. I didn't specifically compare them. I was referring to them as separate examples. I am surprised at the career Clemmensen has put together and wouldn't be surprised if Muse gets a handful of NHL games.

I would be shocked

Clemmensen sr year wins natl championship in 3-2 ot vs ND. Goes 30-7-2 GA of 2.13 and save % 914. Not to bad.

Re: Boston College 2011-2012 season outlook

Hokydad, I know what Clemmensen did at BC. You don't have to explain it to me.

Re: Boston College 2011-2012 season outlook

Than based upon that why would you be surprised at 6'3" etc that he has been a solid backup for most of his carear. Pro's only care about trends and what ahve you done for me lately. Clemmensen ended very strong and is a pro style golaie, size wise among other traits. Muse did not end as well, is not close to nhl size(not close) and ended avg.

lets agree to disagree and hope that you are right

It's just an opinion. Clemmensen had a great career at BC and had great teams in front of him. I realize he was drafted and had the size to play the the NHL level...back then, I just didn't think it would happen for him.

Re: Boston College 2011-2012 season outlook

Clemm is clearly not a comparable to Muse. I'll tell you who is... John Curry. Aside from the fact that Curry never won a darn thing in college. And he's got 4 GP in the NHL. That might be the last he ever sees but at least he made the show. I would put Muse's chances of getting into the show for a few games as a somewhat reasonable possibility.

Both even had hip issues in college.

Re: Boston College 2011-2012 season outlook

nope, big difference between what nhl teams want vs a good jr and college player.

for my taste, i couldn't care less about the NHL and if they like him or not and if he eventually gets to the big show, i'm fine with him just being a good player or more at BC

Re: Boston College 2011-2012 season outlook

I noticed on the Chris Heisenberg 2012 list that Quinn Smith, Peter McMullen and Michael Sit are now scheduled to arrive in the fall of 2012. All were originally scheduled to arrive this September. I know Smith played for Youngstown in the USHL and McMullen was drafted by Omaha. Do they both end up there? How about Sit?

I do think it's for everyone's benefit they don't come as I couldn't have seen any cracking the line-up with regularity (unless there was a slew of injuries).

Re: Boston College 2011-2012 season outlook

I couldn't agree more with the way BCWH Superfan Joe so aptly explained how BC's championships feel different than the Bruins recent success - it's more personal to have BC win and to be a fan of this great hockey program. It's such special thing to really follow this team and to go to all their games - something that most people I know don't really fully understand. Having attended the school when York took over and seeing the program turn around to what it's become adds an element of history for me as well that makes it that much more special.

Re: Boston College 2011-2012 season outlook

And on that note, it is nice to see Jimmy and Kevins cousin, BC recruit Ryan Fitzgerald leading the USA national festival in scoring after 4 games with 9 points....

Re: Boston College 2011-2012 season outlook

Hokydad, how does Fitzgerald stack up vs other top kids in his birth year and what past or present BC player does he best compare to? Thanks!
