When's the last time they put up 9? I recall a home game vs UMass maybe 6-8 years ago that they won 9-0. Any wins on that scale on the road anyone can recall? Yale last year doesn't count..

yale, last year?? also won 9-6 against bowling green on 10/15/05

Watching from the couch tonight, the one goal that really got me pumped was Almeida's. BU had made it 4-1 and was on the PP...what a great individual effort from him. Credit to him for staying at this despite not really moving up the depth chart. You have to believe next year he'll finally have a chance for some top six minutes.

Re: Boston College 2010-2011 In-Season Thread: Long Live The "Eagle" Empire!

I put the game on the DVR last night and 'chased it' so I could zip through the intermissions. But I missed the last five minutes of the game because the Refs decided that they wanted to insert themselves into the game and extend it well beyond the 2:30 slot normally expected for a hockey telecast. Shame on them for being annoyingly picky all night. In the end, I wasn't surprised that the Eagles scored nine times, but that--somehow--BU was able to score five.

BC gave themselves a chance to make a statement this weekend. I was not expecting a win at BU, but pleasantly surprised. It certainly must have felt good to quiet that building. There's really no better feeling than blowing out a team in front of their fired up crowd. Now they need to fire up their own crowd and pick up uncle Mo going into the break. This weekend has the potential to catapult this team back to the top of college hockey, or they could just continue on their slightly above average season with a split.

Looking forward to seeing how both teams respond.

The officiating was ridiculous. The Kreider goal said it all.. they originally said no goal, even though the ref was standing right there with a perfect view of it all. Hitting after the whistle? You have to be kidding me. I hope the HE brass has a word with the crew this morning.

I'm sorry, but someone needs to explain to me what all the confusion and complaining is with this call. Unless something changed that I'm unaware of, steamrolling the goalie without being pushed or anything has always been a penalty. Initially, the ref said the penalty occurred before the puck went in. After review, they determined the puck went in before he hit Rollheiser, hence the call being changed from charging the goaltender to hitting after the whistle. I thought it all made perfect sense and I guess I'm just surprised to see so many people complaining. You can't possibly think that wasn't a penalty, right?

Re: Boston College 2010-2011 In-Season Thread: Long Live The "Eagle" Empire!

I saw Maine completely dominate BU for the first 30 minutes of their game, and if not for Milan standing on his head, Maine could have been up 5 or 6 to zip before Maine started marching to the box half way through the 2nd period. I was expecting a BC win, but not a game quite like that! Quite frankly, BU is not a very good skating team, and they certainly can't skate with us right now. Hell, we were creating some great chances down a man for a lot of that game.

However, tonight may be a different story. BC has to come out like last night with the same intensity, a lot of pressure and put shots on net. I expect to see BU hunker down in the D zone a little tighter trying to stop those shots from reaching net. BU's best chance... can u say trap?

On a side note... I remain amazed at Chris Kreider. In transition he receives the puck just inside center ice and is one on one with a BU d-man. He's at full speed and on the d-man in an instant by the time he reaches the blue line. BLOW THAT GUY AWAY and walk in on net. No... wrist shot 5 feet across the blueline. A natural gift not being used. :(

Steve, I watched it again this morning on the DVR. Contact with the BU d-man caused Kreider to lose his balance and he attempted to avoid the contact with Rollheiser. The refs let this game get out of hand and whenever someone got touched, they just fell down because they knew they'd draw a PP.

Hey Everyone,

For those who haven't seen the video from last night, here's Josh Provost's postgame clips with Jerry, Cam Atkinson and Jack

Spoken like a true bu homer...are you serious right now? Nothing on that play indicated "steamrolling the goalie". It was a great play by kreider and simply an unfathomable penalty call. It's a real shame he wasn't able to leap over rollheiser...that certainly would have made sportscenter top 10

I thought dave starman explained it perfectly

See the game thread for my response. And I don't know how Starman explained it, so that doesn't really mean anything to me.

In Hokiedope's world this makes perfect sense.

Know anyone with a extra ticket or 2? My friend wants to take his son to the game. I told him he's going to have to wait out front and hope someone has an extra ticket.

Check BC ticket exchange my roommate bought 2 off of them yesterday.

I'm happy York told Clendenning to pound sand. I was decidedly unimpressed with him over and over again. Sure we could use a defenseman on the PP but we have enough offense.

Kreider just absolutely blew by the Dman and great pass from Alber and Kreider in the box was comical.

Re: Boston College 2010-2011 In-Season Thread: Long Live The "Eagle" Empire!

He explained it as a bad call, which it obviously was.

I've been around hockey my whole life and knocking over a goalie, even if you tried your best to avoid contact, has always been a penalty. I just don't see the argument for that not being a penalty. I don't really have anything else to say about it. He knocked him over and got a penalty. Not calling that never even crossed my mind. I guess we're either seeing this video differently or we just have different understandings of what a penalty is.

Clendening is going to be pretty good, not many Frosh dman look impressive especially on defense. This year he wouldnt hlep BC I agree but maybe in the longer run.

As am I:p He has an edge to his play that few (if any) regular starters on BU have, and definite offensive abilities. He is also not at 100% this weekend as he was receiving treatment during the week for the knee on knee hit he took vs Brown.

We've been spoiled but I was more impressed by the 4 sophomore dmen as freshmen and is there a guarantee he'll be here for more than a year? Not worth it.
