i'm going to guess no

We will definitely see Milner. I'm guessing Saturday. This team showed a lot of confidence in Milner last year and he delivered. Expecting the same this year.

Don't be so sure. Milner was tough to find on the road last year. He got a lot of the home games last year. These are two huge games on the road with PWR implications come March... you have to go with your best guy in both games IMO.

I'd actually bet that they will split the two games, with Muse on Friday and Milner Saturday

Oh, I forgot that Carmine forgot how to use the delete button

So I guess posts can get deleted.

"Gibbie" was the quote, not Gibby

LOL what a fraud

I'm assuming we will see Milner this weekend. Do you think it will be Friday or Saturday? From what I hear he has been sharp in practice thus far.

Personally, I start Muse Friday and if he plays like he did against Northeastern, you start him Saturday as well.

Is it me, or does it sound like Bobo's back?

Oh no...don't jinx it!!!

interesting tidbit from the denver thread

BC sophomore forward Brooks Dyroff is from Boulder. He attended Niwot High School from 2004-07 before enrolling at Phillips Andover Academy in Andover, Mass., where he graduated from in 2009. According to a BC release, “While at Niwot, Dyroff earned the Sean Student Leadership Award given by the state of Colorado Hockey Association to a player who demonstrates leadership on the ice and in the classroom. Dyroff is the co-founder of CEO4Teens, a non-profit organization which offers educational opportunities to teens in third-world countries; has sent 30 Indonesian students from low-income families on a year-long computer programming course at Indonesia’s Campuhan College; furthered outreach to Boston area in 2009-10, awarding scholarships to Roxbury Community College’s GED program to three individuals.”

good for him. that is impressive stuff from such a young man. hope to see him in a game sometime.

Tweeted links to Dyroff info a few weeks ago, thought I put it here too - Came across this info on #BC Brooks Dyroff: article http://bit.ly/dyroff videos http://bit.ly/dyroff1 & http://bit.ly/dyroff2 Good job!

FYI, Nick Shore is unlikely to play this weekend - they discovered a fracture in his hand from Friday's game vs. Vermont (he didn't play on Saturday) and just put a cast on it. Honestly don't remember a play in that game, but it is so dark at the Gutt I probably just couldn't see it.

Really looking forward to this Denver series. I'd like to see Milner play on Friday. Even though Muse is the #1 guy I think he definitely benefitted from not carrying the team all year long. Let's see what Milner can do on Friday, so we can be in position to have Muse either go for the jugular on Saturday, or salvage the weekend with a split if necessary.

Milner mostly played home games last year, but he's going to need to get some tough road experience before being the #1 next year.

Its going to be an intriging series. I'm calling a split. I think with it being the first official home games of the season, the Pioneers will be fired up to show the home fans what they're made of.

BC is tough, but never count out a home team.

Denver wins Friday, BC wins Saturday night.

Re: Boston College 2010-2011 In-Season Thread: Long Live The "Eagle" Empire!

It will be rather interesting to see if BC's hockey attendance goes up this season. Obviously, a defending NCAA Champion ought to see more people pass through the turnstiles. But also, continued weakness in both the football & basketball programs might sway some folks away from those two sports. The basketball team always seems to 'promise' great things for 'next year,' but when 'next year' finally comes the results are miserable. As for football, my sense is that the Eagles will win one or two games the rest of the way...if that.

This the the first year BC football has sucked in a long time. That thinly veiled shot at the football team was weaksauce.

Yes, that was a LOT of fun. I got to see it on the tube.
Six different Eagles scored goals last night. :)
Do not make mistakes against this BC team or you will pay.

Pre-game, I was a bit concerned about us wearing down as the game progressed (due to altitude), but we seemed to get stronger, and DU seemed to be worn down in the 2nd. Fabulous effort by the Eagles last night! :)

Re: Boston College 2010-2011 In-Season Thread: Long Live The "Eagle" Empire!

I don't think the Eagles will need a shut down line this season. Me thinks the other team is going to be more concerned with shutting us down. BC has been doing a great job with the team D right out of the gate.

Watching Atkinson-Gibbons-Whitney... these guys play like they have the puck taped to their stick, and it only releases when they want to make a tape to tape pass to a linemate. Top that off with the sonar they use... a lot of their passes are no-lookers.
Atkinson to Whitney for the 1st goal was a beauty, but the Whitney to Atkinson pass on the doorstep off the Alber shot was spectacular... perfect touch.

Re: Boston College 2010-2011 In-Season Thread: Long Live The "Eagle" Empire!

Yeah that works, I can do that again.

My only thing is they're going to have to move Kreider but it's a long season.

Re: Boston College 2010-2011 In-Season Thread: Long Live The "Eagle" Empire!

Oh and another thing watching the replay on DVR. I had a problem with the lack of physicality on the team year, especially early. Too many teams had free shots on Muse after the whistle -that isn't so this year.

Re: Boston College 2010-2011 In-Season Thread: Long Live The "Eagle" Empire!

BC looked very good. It was tough to tell because of the quality of the TV broadcast. Grainy, dim-lit, etc. DU looked like they got their legs in the third period but the Gibbons goal was the killer. Tonight's game should be much closer but I think Denver doesn't have the guns to stay with BC for 60 minutes.

My only thing is they're going to have to move Kreider but it's a long season.

I think we'll see Kreider up there with J Hayes again when the stretch run comes and they'll plug in a center with them. They were dominating last year in the postseason together. Putting Kreider with his Brown and Arnold renders him almost useless. The retarded Rangers fans that sit in their mom's basement and post on hfboards must be going nuts (which isn't a bad thing).

Re: Boston College 2010-2011 In-Season Thread: Long Live The "Eagle" Empire!

Re: Boston College 2010-2011 In-Season Thread: Long Live The "Eagle" Empire!

This might be the first time BC doesn't make a bowl game since 1998, so taking a pot shot at the football teams "continued weakness" is definitely "weak sauce." I think attendance for basketball will drop, but not too much because most people are very excited about the new coach Steve Donahue. I do expect attendance to be up for hockey though. After they won the Championship in 08', I remember attendance for the first few games being sky high. It only started to fall once the team started losing. This team this year will pack the house.
