Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

Tough road game and give credit to PC for battling back for the tie.

The disallowed goals really hurt but great 1st half for BC.

It's always a tough road game down there. Can't be happy blowing a third period lead, but it sounded like a good game.

Great first half with the schedule they had, now lets see if they can win during hardware season.

Yes, can't argue with that first half for sure...............the concern is McLeod right now, as his arm was in a sling. didnt see it but when he went off it seemd like his shoulder. Good time for the break

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

The first waved off goal was right in front of me, was comical. Clearly went in (seems like they aren't denying that), but refs were way out of position. Great individual shorthanded effort by Quinn. Second waved off one was on the other side, was odd the ref was emphatic the puck went in and it took about .3 seconds for them to determine it didn't go in.

We didn't respond well to their physical game at all.

Some bumps and bruises yesterday. MacLeod left after the 1st in a sling after taking a slash and never returned, Whitney and Hayes missed shifts but ultimately came back.

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

MacLeod had laid a nice hip check (big hit) on a big PC forward along the boards knocking him off his feet. Both players fell to the ice and the PC guy landed on top of MacLeod. MacLeod came up with a limp arm.

BTW... 'big PC forward'. Appears to me more than a few are on the big side.

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

Ya I was only talking about the smith one. In the recap it says after review they saw that the puck went in, but that it wasnt a legal play. I've seen plenty of goals awarded in this league over the years where a player crashes the net and his "momentum" pushed the puck and/or goalie across the line. That's why I'm just curious if there's actually a rule that supports them not giving the goal or if it just didn't look "right" to them.

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

Wouldn't that rule interpretation have disallowed Patrice Bergeron's goal to put the Bruins up 3-0 on Vancouver in Game 7 of the 2011 SCF?

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

btw, it's pretty clear that the way to beat us is to win the physical game. Of course, the success of this strategy will be based on what side of the bed the Hockey East refs woke up on that morning, so we'll see how that goes.

It's definitely a facet of the game BC needs to improve upon. I thought we won the early physical battles against BU last Saturday night and it made a big difference.

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

I wish they had played Jeke a bit more on defense. He may be your 7th best guy on D, but I can't believe Colin Sullivan being out there instead of Jeke is going to give you any kind of big advantage (in other words, they are both comparable, rookie 3rd pairing types). They'd be a lot better off if Jeke had some more playing experience if in fact Macleod is out for a while. Hopefully just a mild separation and he'll be back in 2-3 weeks.

your boys have no problem playing that way. they just need to be able to flip it early and get into that frame. the games were bu has been able to win are where they play physical (dirty, etc) early and bc kind of likes stands around and wonders when the refs are going to take control.

when the igles come out and take control, or respond immediately to the first event, they have no problem playing that game and winning.

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

I didn't think Gaudreau played a good game at all last night..he was invisible.

Hayes had a solid game for the Eagles

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

Another note on last night, Matheson is the most offensively developed Dman as a FR we've had in a while but he still has a decent way to defensively

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

Yep, especially for the fans who went but it's almost fitting how it should happen against UAH with limited fanfare.

Well said. I recall thinking--back in 2004 when Jack won his 700th before the home crowd in a nationally broadcast 3-2 victory over BC--this milestone really should've happened on the road against Mercyhurst. ;):D

Good luck to classy Jerry in BC's first-ever match-up with #58/Krach UA-Huntsville

Wait, so there ARE some teams worse than Maine?

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

The rink at Providence does a great job in slowing down faster teams. I can see how a large PC team fare well against BC in an environment where BC's great transition game can't flourish.

Didn't think I'd have to clarify this, but I meant because of who York is...he doesn't want the spotlight. Some coaches do. Go stalk some more recruits.

Another dive by the terriers in the first period... this evening's springboard shenanigans brought to you by Evan Rodrigues...

Unbelievable. How come none of the fanboy BU reporters ask Parker about his team's diving problem? They are clearly the biggest bunch of floppers in the league.

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

But of course, they're only being called for it because the refs are out to get them due to Jack's comments

Re: Boston College '12-'13: Gaudreaubey Baker

Out of curiosity, does carltonbarrett ever post anything of any substance? Or his he just one of those morons whose only goal is to annoy people?
