I read it many years ago, like 25, for my history class on Europe between the World Wars. It's the only "text" book I still have from my college years which should tell you how much I liked it.

I think they started downhill when the "co-author" switched. I think Andrew Gross wrote some of the early ones but then around book 7 they switched to Maxine Paetro

I am a bit of a stickler for reading the books in order. There are several characters that develop over the series of the books which may throw you off, one in particular. Personally I think the earlier ones, with the possible exception of the 1st are better than the more recent once.
 
Went to the library today, and found myself at peace walking among the stacks. Ended up checking out two cookbooks and "The Challenge of Things" by AC Grayling.

My library has 5 or 6 copies, and there's been a waiting list for months. I'm not giving him the dough, so I'll wait until the Trumpymoon is over to borrow it.

Goodreads told me I read 13 books this year. I think my wife read that many in a week.

I blame it on some tediously boring books that I couldn't just abandon. I can't get myself to just move on from bad books.

That's like 150 pages a day! :eek: It's impressive.

I should probably make a point to set aside 30 minutes a day to books in 2017.

Lit and Library Science, even. Double whammy.

Some of those are cookbooks, so I don't necessarily "read" them in a traditional way.

I bet Probert reads more than I do.
