Re: Bohemian Rap City: Movies Thread

Has anyone watched the movie Polar on Netflix? I did something that I almost never do which is turn it off after 15 minutes. That might have been the worst 15 minutes of my life. I'm just curious if it was just the start of it, or if it really is that bad all the way through. At my age I'm not interested in throwing away two hours of my life on something that bad.

I've been hearing horrid things, so it's on my list to see how bad it is. I have to give it a fair shot.

As near as I can tell there actually is a movie being released in two weeks called The Man Who Killed Hitler And Then The Bigfoot. And it stars Sam Elliott.

Stayed true to the book as opposed to the John Wayne'd up Hollywood-ized version.

Maybe, but the John Wayne version is a far better movie. I was literally laughing at the end of the remake for how trite it was.

Worst Coen Brothers movie by far, and almost as overrated as Unforgiven.

Yeah, I've seen that before. The "release" date was to rake in the film festival hardware. Art house movies do that sometimes.

If they can turn Lincoln into a vampire killer all bets are off.

Sounds like Bubba Ho Tep

The thing I love from the trailer is it appears to be absolutely dead pan. I don't recall Bubba Ho Tep well enough to say whether it did that; I do remember really enjoying it.

They Shall Not Grow Old. Not my summary:

Using state-of-the-art technology and materials from the BBC and Imperial War Museum, filmmaker Peter Jackson allows the story of World War I to be told by the men who were there. Life on the front is explored through the voices of the soldiers, who discuss their feelings about the conflict, the food they ate, the friends they made and their dreams of the future.

It was brilliant.
