I agree that Bill Beaney was once a great coach and he built the program into what many remember a decade ago. However, he is not the coach that he once was, and HE has changed. Middlebury is capable of getting very good players. Some of them decommit when they hear about the good players who quit hockey or transfer because of his antics. Others don't pursue Middlebury and go elsewhere (Amherst, Bowdoin, Williams, Babson, etc.) because they want to play and enjoy the sport. Beaney has turned the program into a disgrace over recents seasons, compared to what it once was. With the players that should and could be there, Middlebury is back to winning 75% of its games, or more. I'm excited about the potential of Panther pride returning to Middlebury, and I expect that Middlebury will draw reputable, talented D3 head coaches and D1 assistants that could restore greatness.
