Big Green ! Dartmouth Women ' s Hockey , 2009 - 2010

Big Green ! Dartmouth Women ' s Hockey , 2009 - 2010

Katie Stewart had a wonderful four years at Colgate. I think Sarah Parsons, however, should have gotten the edge for first team ECAC. Played her junior year with a broken (broken) leg. This year leading scorer in the ECAC Conference among other such accomplishments.

Isn't supposed to make a difference yet I feared voters who didn't know such may have been looking at Katie, a wonderful player, some for the body of her work over the course of her career at Colgate. Too, Sarah WAS the leading scorer and certainly an inspiration for the Green.

As Sita says-Thats all!

IIRC, Stewart was also injured for a significantly portion of her time at Colgate prior to this year.

Congratulations to Gillian Apps and Cherie Piper and all of Team Canada on winning GOLD on their home ice.

It is terribly disappointing to lose the Gold medal game, but Team USA is also to be congratulated on winning silver medals. What a terrific game it was! all of women's hockey benefits from such tremendous talent on such a big stage.

Question for Dartmouth fans; I've been following women's hockey since the '98-'99 season and I can't recall not seeing Dartmouth in the playoffs. In fact, except for the '05-'06 season, Dartmouth has always had home ice.

Is this the case? When the was the last time the Green missed the tournament?

Not since I've been following the team either. Had to look back at ECAC records; it appears it's been since 1991 (and there were no quarterfinals in those days).
It does seem very odd not to have the team playing - thank goodness for the Olympics to distract me. ;)

They’re getting better,” said Harvard head coach Katey Stone. “They’ve got big, strong kids. It seemed like it was Dartmouth and Harvard for many years [in ECAC Hockey] , and now it looks like it may be Cornell and Harvard.”

Cornell and HARVARD?? C'mon, Katey. How many times did you beat Clarkson this year? :D

Re: Big Green ! Dartmouth Women ' s Hockey , 2009 - 2010

I'll echo Trillium's comments and say that while Bellamy did not have a great ECAC tournament and was shaky at best against Cornell last week, she did step into some rather large skates left by Kessler. Kessler's freshman year was hampered by a knee injury she suffered prior to her matriculating at Harvard. So her first season was basically a wash. Her sophomore year was terrific as she backstopped the Crimson to the Frozen Four and was unbeaten in the ECAC.

I think Bellamy will be fine. And we have an incoming goalie who is supposed to be very good. I'm not worried about our goaltending.

And I think Dartmouth should be concerned about their D because they had several breakdowns that I saw in Hanover in January when Harvard beat them 4-1. With all that offense graduating, expect the Green to have to play it close to the vest next year as we had to do this year with the graduation losses of Vallaincourt, Wilson, Brine, et al...

I think Cornell and Clarkson will be co-favorites to win the conference next year and I expect that Harvard will be right there challenging both teams. There were games that could have gone either way between the schools this year and that could easily change next season and be the difference between finishing first and out of the top four.

Dartmouth is bringing in at least one very good D for next year...it would appear. It will be interesting to see how they rebound. At the beginning of the season, I thought they would be the team to beat. Does anyone know if Fischer will be suiting up for the Big Green next season? She had a very solid freshman campaign. Dartmouth is graduating some very key forwards, but they certainly have some weapons left. It will be very good for the ECAC if they can remain a contender.

Re: Big Green ! Dartmouth Women ' s Hockey , 2009 - 2010

Yes, Ms. Fischer will be back next season with the Big Green. Missed her this past year!
