Biden v Dump 1: If not now, when? If not us, who?

It's early.

Way too early. But just for a moment: what if it keeps growing? If we can pull off a truly historical landslide, we could completely erase the last 40 years of Republican malfeasance in one roll.

I don't know that a leadership team of Biden, Schumer, and Pelosi is up for that. But then again, FDR was no revolutionary. He resisted going big at every turn. Events forced his hand to make substantive changes (and perhaps delay the death of capitalism for a century so in a way f-ck him).

Imagine all liberal executive and judicial actions firmly cemented in law, and even in Amendment, to remove the conservatives' self-serving lie of opposing "activist legislation from the bench."

Imagine making all the ways the rich currently lessen their tax exposure crimes.

Imagine fixing all the procedural tricks the right currently uses to slow down or halt the will of progressives.

Imagine ending bribery in politics.

Like I said, it's a long, long road, but for a moment perhaps we should also think about the end goal. Having been conditioned for 50 years that the rich will always win, well, what if they didn't? What could we do (1) to make this country better and (2) to prevent them from ever getting their hands around our throat again?

Excellent.

Are these really circulating? Even if it's 50 million people it doesn't help if it's people who would vote for us anyway. It needs to be people who need motivation to vote, and lofo people raised by Republicans who aren't bigots themselves and who can still be saved.

Recuse the children; leave the parents.

I swear they were buying time one Faux but I might be misremembering it though.

Yes, they were doing buys on Fox & Fiends specifically to stroke out Dump.

But if you're watching Fox you're done. You've actively self-selected to be a drone. I'm thinking about the people who aren't breathlessly following twitter but also aren't watching the 2 Minute Hate.

I watch a lot of shows on TV Land and in the past two weeks, I've seen a lot of Trump ads. I can't tell if it's a national media buy or targeted for where I live. It struck me as odd. I didn't think he needed to do ads but I guess he does. I haven't see one Biden ad, though. Maybe because he feels he doesn't need to here in MA.

That's a nostalgia channel right? I think I've seen stuff like Peter Gunn on it.

Would make sense for them to be riding the Olds. People who long for the days when They Knew Their Place.

It will only be a couple more decades until everybody who went to a legally segregated school* is dead. That's going to help a lot. They probably raised their kids as racists, but their grandkids most likely are embarrassed by both and just change the subject to sports.

Same thing's gonna happen with Teh Gayz, about 20 years later. And then, maybe, we'll finally be out of A Priori Hate.

And it will leave more room for A Posteriori Hate, which I fully support.

* Fun fact: my father went to a legally segregated high school in Washington DC in the 40s. He wasn't a racist exactly but he didn't like mixed marriages so... yeah, OK.

I linked polls that showed similar (or bigger) leads in OCTOBER. Including leads in electoral college swing states. One October poll showed her with leads that amounted to well over 300 EC votes. This election is a toss-up for two reasons. One, Covid-19 has and will continue to play havoc with voter registration (way down and do we know yet which party this is affecting) and the actual elections. And two, the republicans are going to go into absolute overdrive with voter suppression tactics. This is going to be especially prevalent in states that are close, particularly the states that are close that have not been won recently by a democratic candidate. I will go on record right now as saying any electoral college win by trump that is close will not be a legitimate win. He will only win this election by stealing it. There will be fraud and intimidation this election, and it will be perpetrated by the republican party and their white supremacist allies. We have a lot of work ahead of us to preserve this democracy. A lot.

How do we know registration will be way down? Havent the primaries been either much the same registration-wise or even up? There have been massive GOTV campaigns in multiple states especially at and after the Floyd protests.

And outside of Georgia the suppression tactics havent worked very well. In Wisconsin Democrats waited in line for hours and used absentee ballots. Same in Kentucky. I dont think you are going to see Democrats not voting.

Look accepting the usual caveats that no one has won anything yet and no lead is safe until after the votes are in it is ok to feel a little confident. Not over confident like the Hillary campaign did but still think things are trending the right way. Trump's numbers are down in every one of his demographics except racist twats and conspiracy theorists. That is prevalent in all polls not just the ones the Right pretend are fake. He has completely bungled a Pandemic, the economy was trashed (and is looking like it is about to take another hit), race relations are back to late 50s/early 60s levels, trust in authority has eroded to the point of near collapse, we have abandoned our allies and embraced dictators who have outright tried to kill our troops (and put bounties on their head) and he is making a play at taking away people's health care again. Jimmy Carter had more going for him in 1980...

That doesnt mean Biden will win, it just means Trump seems to be stacking the deck for Biden. I cant tell you why but people seem to like voting for Biden. (minorities especially) Unlike Hillary he doesnt seem to have a sense of entitlement even the fake scandals the Right throws at him dont seem to stick. (Although a Comey Letter is always possible later on and we know Wikileaks is gonna make a play at some point) It appears, at least for now, that the Dems have the right candidate at exactly the right time.

Now the job of all of us is to keep reminding people to vote. The DFL Party called me yesterday just to tell me about mail in voting. (they never call me) This needs to be happening everywhere. There have been massive twitter campaigns to sign up people all over the country and there needs to continue to be a concerted effort out of groups like BLM to get Black People registered and inform them of their options. If we keep that up, no amount of suppression outside of outright destroying ballots will stop us. And I am hardly an optimist...

How do we know registration will be way down?

This has been reported in various outlets frequently over the last couple of months at least. With the horrible outbreaks we are also now seeing in half the states in the country it isn't going to suddenly get easier to register voters.

I think the ONLY arrow in the quiver for republicans is to cheat. Absent cheating I think Biden might win in a landslide somewhere between 1984 and 1988. But until the votes are counted and the stool sample that sits in the White House now is washed away and the grounds disinfected we can't take anything for granted. I want to see the electoral equivalent to a 54-0 blowout. I want republicans on the ground and I want to stomp their kidneys and make them pee blood -- in an electoral sense.

Warren. It can't be Warren.

It's gonna be Harris. Gives us the demo but without even a hint of liberalism. Harris is a less pretty Obama.

Works for me. Gotta win before anything else.

Demings could be an interesting pick. Though does her being an AA woman and a former police chief get you the best of both worlds, or will it be seen as too much of straddling the line by both voting blocks? Also only 2 terms in the House, but she was also picked as an impeachment manager, so a bit of a rising star. Also, Florida.
