Another good ad. Touching nerves already

It is a testament to how truly awful Trump is that Joe Biden is seen as a hero in comparison.

On something like this Biden is perfect. He's a pillar of stability.

The GOP took the wrong lesson from Chicago 1968. As racists, they assume anti-cop violence will drive middle class whites to the polls for them. But anti-cop violence will drive middle class whites to the polls against the incumbent on whose watch it occurs. The Silent Majority wants to roll over and go back to sleep. The extremism of Dump and the GOP, which they revel in as "truth to power," is a detriment when it provokes actual civil disorder. It's no longer a stupid rhetorical game at that point -- it's incitement to civil war.

Who would have thought the Dems' septuagenarian inertia, in a time of crisis, would become a good brand? :)

Still 5 months go until Election Day, I wouldn't make any assumptions about the fallout from this yet.

Re: Biden v Dump 1: If not now, when? If not us, who?

If Trump wins re-election when in the course of 6 months he let a pandemic kill over 100k people, cratered the economy AND had riots in dozens of cities (including outside the WH while he cowered in a bunker with the lights off like a 5 year old watching Poltergeist) then it doesnt much matter anyways anymore cause America is dead.

Dubya won in 2004.

Dubya won in 2004.

?
What were we facing in 2004 that compares to a pandemic that might kill hundreds of thousands, riots in dozens of cities and an economic calamity that might be the worst the nation has ever seen if it stays off the rails much longer?

2004 showed me elections are not determined by conditions on the ground. Dubya had proven himself in every way incompetent, the Republicans had proven themselves in every way despicable, yet they still won. His voters would not abandon him because they literally could not see reality.

2004 was when I realized elections are only about mobilization, because voters' choices are fixed. Nothing will change that: plague, civil war, treason are all irrelevant because they cannot penetrate the Republican brain.

I believe only a small handful of Dump 2016 voters will change. All that matters will be turnout. The GOP believes it, too. That is why they have the pedal through the floor on voter suppression. We stop them or they steal it.

Gotcha, makes sense. I did not get that from the other post.

And yes, this election, like almost every one nowadays, is about turnout. If we turn our voters out, and if we hold a lid on the voter suppression, we'll win. Hell, if there was not voter suppression and Biden is still breathing and walking on election day, I think he might win 40 states.

I think the GOP wins 20 states with a Hitler / Hillary ticket.

Here are the Dem percentages of the 16 worst states as of 2018:

18 WY
25 KS
28 UT
28 SD
30 NE
30 ND
34 ID
35 AL
35 AS
35 TN
35 OK
36 MS
37 SC
38 IN
38 MO
39 MT

Dubya won in 2004.

Dubya had a war and sympathy from 9/11 still and Kerry waffles more than...well...The Waffle House. The situations don't parallel.

I am not worried about turnout...yet ;)
