Bentley University Hockey 2015-2016: The Quest for 60-Minute Hockey

Re: Bentley University Hockey 2015-2016: The Quest for 60-Minute Hockey

Tonight's game wasn't all that bad. Considering all the injuries, (at least I'm assuming they're injuries) the boys played pretty well tonight, especially Antoni. Army is a much better team than they let on, and the guys stayed with them. Really good performance the last couple nights from that thrown together 4th line, with the 2 defensemen getting their first goals as wingers. The home-ice in the playoffs is definitely a bonus, even though we might not have earned it, but the 8 seed means playing against Sacred Heart, followed possibly by Robert Morris. Two very dangerous teams, but if the boys can keep their heads on straight (and get a few guys back from injury), I could see them making a run.

Agreed; hosting Sacred Heart is better than hosting the 'hurst, as we did last year. Hope that we can get everyone back for next weekend.

Re: Bentley University Hockey 2015-2016: The Quest for 60-Minute Hockey

Can things get any worse?

Yeah I mean - I don't understand the negativity. Yes, this team has been up against it lately, but last night's game was one of the better college hockey games I've seen in general. Also - just as a statement - this team is really banged up. Even so, they managed to get four goals this weekend from depth scoring. The fourth line is cobbled together with 2 defenseman (one of which did play forward in juniors, so...), and a senior who really hasn't played that much. While that was happening, that fourth line put together three goals on the weekend and was arguably the best line on the ice.

I think there's cause for a cautious optimism heading into the playoffs. The margin for error in this league is razor thin and case in point is this upcoming weekend. If Bentley isn't injury-riddled, they're playing potentially as a 5 or 6 seed. If Sacred Heart doesn't lose 3 guys yesterday, there's a chance this series is in Milford. So.... I think Bentley fans should be happy with a win and we'll see where the chips fall. Anything can happen, and given what the team has dealt with over the last month, I think there's still cause for optimism. If they don't do it, then they left everything on the table. If they do, then they overcame the odds.

Yeah, i agree. I can be about as negative as they come, but this was a very good hockey game to watch. I love it when adversity strikes and "next men up" come through. Continues to show the parity in college hockey players today. Army does look really good heading into the playoffs, should be another fun start to the playoffs :)

Fine effort by the Bentley Falcons tonight. Let's do it again tomorrow night!

Max French #2 in nation for Pts./GM at the moment.

Re: Bentley University Hockey 2015-2016: The Quest for 60-Minute Hockey

That was a great college hockey game last night, with Sacred Heart coming out on top. If you're going to wind up in OT, you hope the goal gets their money's worth. Good shot, good goalie stand, and just a good snipe beats a good goalie.

Justin Danforth's goal in OT was just that. Wide open shot, one-on-one with the goalie, top shelf, glove side, goalie was up to it, square, had the glove up, and it just beat him. Mano-against-mano.

This has been a fantastic series. Looking forward to a great game three tonight. Hope everyone can make it out because these teams -- should be fantastic.

Sorry that I was out of town and missed all three games this weekend, but great win tonight to move on, Falcons.

That was a BIG win. Gotta imagine it was extra sweet for the seniors and juniors... up until the clock read 00:00, they were still on the exact same course as the past two postseason series at the JAR. nice to get over the hump and avoid a third straight year of heartbreak. Now that they're over that hump, playing with confidence... lets go beat Bobby Mo!

Need to play a lot better against them than we did in early January when we were out-scored 10-1 in Pittsburgh.

What a win! At last the Falcons win a playoff series. Gotta give them some confidence heading into R.M. They're definitely a beatable team, have to limit Gibson and Lynch as much as possible. Maybe we'll even get a few more guys back from injury before this weekend. Notably, Chris Buchanan sat out for the last period of the 3rd game after taking a big hit. He'd be a huge loss, hopefully its just a minor injury.

The Falcons have a shot at RMU. I think it will be much closer than January. Hopefully Buchanan is back and they maintain the 4th line. Have wanted to see The big boys (chugg and solovyev ) together all year (just didn't figure it would be as F's. :). Falcons need all the size and physicality they can get against RMU.

Hoping for an upset this weekend. Go Falcons!

Women b-ball team hosting quarterfinals in Waltham at 6 tonight.

Outshot 48-28, but Falcons won 4-3 in regulation, so 45 saves by Antoni. Schmidt picked up 4 assists, French 2 goals and an assist, Gladiuk 1 goal and 2 assists, goal and assist by Blomquist, and 2 assists by Jago.

BIG WIN. The boys really played great tonight, some of the best all around play I've seen all season, including Antoni. If they can do it for another night, we're going to Rochester baby!!

Trivia Quiz: anyone here remember the last time we played in the AHC tournament in Rochester?

Defeated Canisius two games to 1 at the JAR in 2009. That was when the last four teams played single elimination play-in games to take on the top 2 seeds. Bentley finished fourth that year and played Air Force in the semifinals. Air Force opened up that year 16-0 and was ranked for a while. Believethey should've beaten Michigan but lost in the first round out east.

I know I know. I cheated because I'm the employee guy and paid to know these things.

That said, Bentley played last night shorthanded. SEVEN forwards down up front, including Gladiuk, Deresky, and more. This is a team that is fighting and battling and is the grittiest bunch of hockey players you'll see in a while. And they STILL have a shot to do it against the league's best team. If they win, this will be a tremendous fight. If they lose tonight, the coaches and players legitimately went down swinging with everything they had.

I know what my pick was in this week (well okay, my wife's pick), but I can't help but be excited for another Game Three - even if I have to watch it from home and am not in the Steel City for it.

Re: Bentley University Hockey 2015-2016: The Quest for 60-Minute Hockey

Other than the 2 blocked shot breakaways, it was a pretty good effort considering the circumstances. Not sure what happened to Gladiuk and Deresky, but it would be nice to see those guys back. Then it becomes very interesing :)
