Bentley University Hockey 2015-2016: The Quest for 60-Minute Hockey

Re: Bentley University Hockey 2015-2016: The Quest for 60-Minute Hockey

Good win by Falcons on Lake Erie tonight, behind Argue in net. A sweep would be a nice prize to bring home.

Time for Soderquist to go. Stagnant coaching, continually .500 or worse year after year is just not cutting it. Hopefully a new arena is not in jeopardy. Very good talent is floundering. New blood needed.

I think that the rink on campus may be in jeopardy, but for other reasons. :-(

Wow, some of the best coaching yet.......right up to the point it was 6-1. Sure, leave Callin and Dumonceaux in the stands for the stellar upperclassmen and the logic behind not playing chugg all year is beyond any rational thinking at all. But, by all means put 4 and 21 back together. Classic panic. Another one and done playoff round.

And, may not even get home ice this postseason, given the trajectory. Very disappointing.

Maybe Bentley can pick up the steaming pile of Mike when he gets fired from Wisco :)

I wasn't going to say it until someone else brought it up, but I definitely agree that it may be time for Soder to go. The teams performance this year compared to the sheer level of talent they possess is ridiculous, and if they can't pull something out of thin air during the playoffs, it might be the end of an era. No goal I've seen in the last month or two has been clearly designed, or a result of good coaching. It's either been a stellar individual effort, or a lucky rebound/shot. And on the defensive side, it's even worse. The only problem with giving him the boot, and I'm not even sure if this is true, but I believe the players have a lot of respect/love playing for Soder. And who knows what that old DeFelice is thinking anyway, he's probably too busy with his terrible baseball team.

In regards to the rink, there are rumors that the movement to get Adjunct Professors paid more is going to take priority over the rink project. Myself and most of the rest of the Top Shelf are currently abroad, but before we left last semester we saw the preliminary designs for the rink and took part in a discussion about it. It seemed like they pretty much had the green light, and it was supposed to get approved this month. But who knows now, the team looked much more promising at that point.

Edit: Also note that Soder finally put Deresky up on the second line with Ahlgren, and he scores! Just like I said in my last post...

Just an FYI that while I'm not heading out to AIC for the Wednesday night game but will be carrying a broadcast from Tate Rink in West Point on the Friday night before Senior Day.

Thanks for the heads up, Dan. Hope that you have something positive to report on the Falcons in these last three games.

Is that to scout Army for the Bentley coaches? :p

Ouch! But, I think that the Bentley coaches will be on the bench with the team. Then again, maybe not, part of a new experiment?

Maybe I wasn't clear, I meant no harm. I meant that Dan would be taking notes at the Army/Mercyhurst game to help the Bentley coaches prepare to face Army the following weekend.

Re: Bentley University Hockey 2015-2016: The Quest for 60-Minute Hockey

Bentley has played well when playing against Army earlier in the season, a 2-2 tie and 6-2 win. They will need a clean sweep in the three remaining contests.

Seeing as many as five (5) teams are still in the race for that coveted 5th place finish. Mercyhurst, Canisius, Bentley, Army & Sacred Heart all battling down the final stretch of games.

If the final spot comes down to a tie in overall points, are things decided by head to head points, goal differential or some other method?

There is a link to 2016 tie breaker on AHC's website, but the file it links to is Tiebreaker for 2012-2013. I don't think it's changed though.

Here is the tiebreaker for seeding for the 2012-13 Tournament
1. Winning percentage head-to-head
2. Conference Wins
3. Goal differential in head-to-head contests
4. Goals allowed in head-to-head contests
5. Winning percentage head-to-head against teams seeded 1 thru 12, staring with the #1 seed.
6. Goal differential in games against teams seeded 1 thru 12, starting with the #1 seed."

I keep forgetting about the bye week. Good thing my wife reminds me that I owe her one for the entire season. She's a real trooper.

They haven't changed, other than the fact that there are now 11 teams and not 12.

Re: Bentley University Hockey 2015-2016: The Quest for 60-Minute Hockey

Check out tonight's lines... French being out is definitely a concern, Chugg playing offense?? Also, Bacon and Reardon on the 2nd line with Ahlgren, Antoni in net... Soder is looking a little desperate.

Re: Bentley University Hockey 2015-2016: The Quest for 60-Minute Hockey

Gotta be more injuries than are being let on. Chugg played some forward in the BCHL, filled in pretty well tonight
