Yep, Plymouth State University (Div 3) also built a new hockey arena (wellness center) near the entry to campus three years ago. Only seats 860, but nicely laid out. And, a good model to follow by using other agenda to justify the construction. They had previously a nice arena for their hockey games, but it was 25 miles away in Waterville Valley, which could be a 45-minute or longer drive in difficult winter driving conditions.

And, of course, Div 3 St Anselms in Manchvegas, which elected not to join the AHA by not filling the slot vacated by UConn.

I'm still baffled. They were a perfect fit to join us. I'd put money on Navy within the nest 2-3 years taking the spot if the it's still open.

Polls and Rankings are out.

Bentley voted tied with Niagara to finish 4th in the AHA Coaches poll. ('Hurst 1, RM 2, AF 3) Of the top 5 teams however, we were the only one not to receive a first place vote. ('Hurst 6, RM 3, AF 1, Niagara 1) And those 4 teams were the only 4 AHA teams to receive votes in the NCAA USCHO top 25 poll.

As far as individual talent, Bentley fared well in the SBN preseason All-AHA Team. Grieve and Weinstein named to first team. Gladiuk to Second. And Rookie Goalie Jayson Argue was named to the All rookie team.

I think for the opener, you give it to Doc. But like I said earlier, I'm very excited about the freshman goalie Argue. Hopefully we can come up with a solid tandem between Gabe, Doc and Argue, and we'll see if anyone emerges as a clear cut starter

Seven days to our first puck drop, and I just learned that I have a work conflict and cannot get to the Quinnipiac game as planned. :-(

Quinnipiac fan checking in here ... Wanted to let all fans know that I think there is still a handful of SRO tickets left for Saturday. Also, out of curiousity ... Why is Dougherty called 'Doc" ... Always a great nickname or for all I know he actually has a doctorate.

Really amazing that your rink has sold out for our visit. Not sure if we have ever won a game against the Bobcats; perhaps back in the old MAAC days? Same question about Doc here. :-)

I think it is a combo of it being the home opener and alumni weekend and we all want to see Doc in net!

His last name is actually pronounced Dock-er-tee not Doherty. So Doc fits like a glove.... unless he has a secretive doctorate we don't know about!
