Bemidji State offseason, WCHA, BREC here we come!

Re: Bemidji State offseason, WCHA, BREC here we come!

I was worried all year that Read would take off to Boston next season. I know they have had him at their development camps the past couple summers, and it's pretty well-known that they have thrown offers his way.

Overall, a very wise and mature decision to hold out one more year and finish his degree here @BSU.

Can't wait for next season!

On another note, BSU Senior Chris Mckelvie has scored 3 points and gone in with a +3 +/- playing for NY Ranger affiliate Hartford Wolfpack in only 6 games. Seems to be adjusting great and hopefully will get signed back for next season!

Re: Bemidji State offseason, WCHA, BREC here we come!

I thought I had heard or read somewhere that if he finishes his senior season, he could get a higher offer than if he signed after his junior year. It has something to do with the contract limits in the NHL Collective Bargining Agreement.

So if everything goes like it should, Read will play in the WCHA, open the BREC, lead the Beavers to a great season, complete his degree and then see the offers roll in.

See, and that's the opposite of what Talbot would've gotten. He could get a two-year deal if he left after this season [as he did], but only a one-year deal if he left next year. I think some of that was age-depedent, though.

Re: Bemidji State offseason, WCHA, BREC here we come!

I heard a report from a source that read turned down a $900,000 contract, i dont know the years, but i know that would be tough money to be turning down.

I am not 100% sure, but for some reason that sounds like the max they can offer a free agent under the CBA. If I had more time today, I could probably go look it up, but this thing called work keeps coming up.......

Re: Bemidji State offseason, WCHA, BREC here we come!

There was an ad on the main page of the Pioneer online this morning. They were pushing getting your season tickets now to the BREC as 65% of the seats have been sold as season tickets to this point.

Re: Bemidji State offseason, WCHA, BREC here we come!

I just saw on some "tweets" from Bemidji Sports that the BREC is now 71% sold out (~3200). That includes season tickets, student allotment and the WCHA requirement for opposing teams. It was also stated that 10% (~450) of the seats will be held back for individual game sales.

It looks like ECHL Reading got back most of their key players- including Matt Dalton- for a Kelly Cup playoff run.

By Jimmy Johnson
Reading Eagle

Reading goalie Matt Dalton has been outstanding during the playoffs in leading the Royals to seven straight victories.
Fortunately for Matt Dalton, it's not a federal crime to steal a game and cross state lines with the loot.

Dalton made 45 saves in a 3-1 Game 2 win to allow the Reading Royals to get on a bus and drive nine hours home from Cincinnati with a 2-0 series lead on the Cyclones.

"I think he single-handedly won us that game," Reading coach Larry Courville said. "He made the saves on opportunities when they should have scored. He stole us that game."

And with that win, the rookie netminder's 30th this season, he is two away from leading Reading to its first Kelly Cup final in franchise history.

Dalton sure is turning away A LOT of shots in those games. Who needs D-men?????

Also, Rapid City is one win away from capturing the CHL Title. Brendon Cook, Blaine Jarvis, Cody Bostock, Riley Weselowski and Luke Erickson are all there, and Cook has been on a tear against the Allen Americans in the Championship.
