Bemidji State offseason, WCHA, BREC here we come!

Re: Bemidji State offseason, WCHA, BREC here we come!

My gut says Read stays. If he does leave, I think it will be in the summer after NHL teams have their rookie and tryout camps. I don't think this season, at least the last month and a half, were what he was looking for, and for a chance to play in the WCHA week in and week out may be enough to keep him around.

But if he leaves, it wouldn't surprise me either. How's that for fence setting? :p

Haha, that's pretty good

Re: Bemidji State offseason, WCHA, BREC here we come!

Just looking at this past season, and to just look at it from a budgetary standpoint, BSU had 5 bus trips (NMU, UMinn, UND for the holiday tourney, WMU and UNO - plus a single day bus trip to UMD) and 4 flights (UAH, Niagara, RMU and a season ending week-long trip back to UAH and then up to Niagara for the CHA Tourney - and not only that, but '08-'09 had 6 flights and only three bus trips).

Compare that to next year, and 7 bus trips (SCSU, Wisco, Mariucci Classic - if that pans out, UNO, MSUM, MTU, and UND) and only 2 flights (Denver and UAH) for '10-'11.

Quite a bit different. And, maybe we won't have to read articles like this next year either...

Do you want me to get out my violin? ;)

I want to thank the Bemidji State program again for scheduling a trip to Huntsville next season. I've heard tell that they broke another commitment to do so. Now, to break this **** winless streak ... ;)

GFM <-- will be rooting for the Beavs in the WCHA.

Re: Bemidji State offseason, WCHA, BREC here we come!

Looking at the BSU line-up (and taking the line-chart from the UMich game), here's what is gone and coming back, plus what's comming in for 2010-'11, with '10-'11 status in parentheses):

Forwards:

George (So.) - Read (Sr./?) - Lowe (Sr.)

MacQueen (Jr.) - McKelvie (Graduated) - Lehrke (Graduated)

Kinne (Jr.) - Walters (Jr.) - Cramer (Sr.)

Orban (So.) - Billberg (Sr.) - Findlay (Jr.)

Plus - McLeod (So.), Hartmann (So.), Drew Fisher (Jr. TR from Minnesota), Radislov Illo (Fr.), Jeff Jubenville (Fr.), Garrett Ladd (Fr.) and Brad Robbins (Fr.)

Defense:

Hunt (Jr.) - Areshenko (So.)

Peluso (Graduated) - MacIntyre (Sr.)

Hardwick (Graduated) - Adams (Sr.)

Plus - Carlson (So.), and Kyle Brodie (Fr.)

Goalies:

Bakala (Jr.) - Dugas (So.), Bosch (So.)

Plus - Jase Weslosky (Sr. TR from SCSU)

I think our blue line is a little thin and small. One injury away from being very thin. I think we're good at forwards and the goalie situation will be VERY interesting.

Looks like we're going to have to scrounge up a beaver to put on the stick.
Try the athletic website...I think that's where we got one when they came to The Ralph a few years ago. Ralph security was disappointed we didn't shave it. :D

Welcome to the league. You're in for a real treat with the board discussion. :D

Re: Bemidji State offseason, WCHA, BREC here we come!

Carlson has three years of eligibility remaining. Change that Sr. to So.

Oops! One typo out of that isn't too bad...

As to depth on the blue-line, I wouldn't be surprised to see someone (or two) moved back.

Re: Bemidji State offseason, WCHA, BREC here we come!

It will be very interesting to see what happens with the goaltending.

Bakala coming off a good year, and SCSU-transfer Jase Weslosky maybe stepping up?

Weslosky has great experience in the WCHA, but who knows who Seratorre calls to the position!

beware of jase, he is a slacker who would rather smoke the ganja and play halo then go to class

Re: Bemidji State offseason, WCHA, BREC here we come!

Met some cool Bemidji fans this past weekend, needless to say I'm pulling for them now in the new conference. Whoever the guys in the parking lot rocking the wigs and the roller blades, hats off to ya.

Re: Bemidji State offseason, WCHA, BREC here we come!

FYI, the 2010-11 schedule isn't on the BSU website at the moment, so here it is:

10/15-16 North Dakota
10/29-30 Minnesota Duluth
11/5-6 at St. Cloud State
11/12-13 Alaska-Anchorage
11/19-20 at Denver
11/26-27 Northern Michigan
12/3-4 Nebraska-Omaha
12/10-11 at Wisconsin
12/31-1/1 Mariucci Classic
1/7-8 at Ala.-Huntsville
1/14-15 at Nebraksa-Omaha
1/21-22 St. Cloud State
2/4-5 at Minnesota State
2/11-12 at Michigan Tech
2/18-19 Colorado College
2/25-26 at North Dakota
3/4-5 Minnesota

Saving the best team for last I see. Gopher arrogance never dies.

Re: Bemidji State offseason, WCHA, BREC here we come!

I've heard that BSU has had it's first pro signing...just awaiting confirmation. And no...it's not Matt Read!

More details soon.
