Bemidji State Beavers: Defending the MacNaughton 2017-18

I'm representin' in Huntsville this weekend. First time going there. Any advice from anyone?

Schultzie always talks about Dreamland BBQ. It has been a few years since I've been there, but have done the Space Center and also did a walk around Twickenham District. Geof or any other UAH fans may be able to give some other ideas as well. I know there is a UAH thread here on this board as well.

Re: Bemidji State Beavers: Defending the MacNaughton 2017-18

Thank you!

I have a friend who also suggested Dreamland.

Re: Bemidji State Beavers: Defending the MacNaughton 2017-18

Not a good night to lay an egg in Huntsville.... Northern and Bowling Green each won to put three more points between them and the Beavers. Mankato is idle, so we burned one of the games in hand on them. Michigan Tech lost, so therr went a chance to put three more points between the Beavers and them.

Re: Bemidji State Beavers: Defending the MacNaughton 2017-18

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH

That was unexpected. I expected a good game, but I didn't expect that result.

Sorry that I'm not up to entertaining visitors (I'm sick and missed the game last night and probably will tonight's, too), or I'd meet up with you.

Had a great time in Huntsville. Ok, except the outcome on Friday.
Met a few of the members of the UAH 1998 Championship team at Humphrey's on Friday after the game. Great guys. Ran into a few other BSU fans at Straight to Ale on Saturday. I highly recommend this road trip if you have the chance.

I'm glad that you enjoyed it! I think that we're a unique spot on the WCHA travel docket.

Well...if there was any good news for me last night it was that instead of hockey, I attended the BSU men's basketball game (we beat Wayne State 91-70). It would have been gut wrenching to experience the Lake State hockey game. Even though I missed the experience, the results seem to linger unpleasantly. Get it done Beavers!

Re: Bemidji State Beavers: Defending the MacNaughton 2017-18

Is there a possibility of the WCHA getting 3 teams in this year? Bowling Green and Northern are both right there in the pairwise and Minnesota State is a virtual lock. So my question is could Northern or Bowling Green get in by making it to the WCHA finals and losing to someone who isn't Mankato giving the WCHA 3 teams?

This scenario was discussed in the WCHA thread. I fear that ship has sailed with NMU and BG each losing once since this scenario was discussed. Looks like the best we can do is Mankato losing in the final game to get 2 in.

I agree, two is the best we can probably hope for. Mankato is pretty much a shoe in right now and someone other than Mankato would have to win the playoffs.

Re: Bemidji State Beavers: Defending the MacNaughton 2017-18

Bemidji State getting a lot of mention on the Olympic broadcast of the Korea/Czech Republic game. Former Beaver goaltender Matt Dalton is the starting goalie for the Korean team. He is keeping the Koreans in it as they are down 2-1 in the third.

EDIT: Czech Republic 2, Korea 1

Matt Dalton's line from today's 2-1 Korean loss to the Czech Republic:

38 saves on 40 shots, 95 Save%, 2.04 GAA (empty net in the last two minutes), one power play goal and one short handed goal given up.

Re: Bemidji State Beavers: Defending the MacNaughton 2017-18

Yep. I watched most of the second, all of the third and all of the OT no problem.

I had no problem as well -- stream was on all game long. The WCHA tweeted that Stretch had made an update to their player which was causing the "not available" message on Macs, and that clearing the browser cache and refreshing should work.

Really? I mean they would obviously need some help but Northern is still at 16 in the pairwise and 17 in the polls. While being just outside of the media poll. Their RPI is pretty good as well. Their SOS and Krach obviously hurt but I think if they won out all the way to the wcha playoffs and lost to bemidji or bg there would still be a decent chance of 3. Granted I'm relatively new to the whole college hockey thing so I could be way off.

The issue tends to be upsets in the conference tournaments that put someone that isn't in the top 16 of the Pairwise into the NCAAs. To be safe, you usually need to be in the top 12-14 of the Pairwise.

Very seldom is a team from Atlantic Hockey in the top 16, so that takes one spot, so you are down to 15.
