Bemidji State Beavers: 2016-17

Re: Bemidji State Beavers: 2016-17

Not trying to make excuses. I am one who has not complained about the Beavers having to go Alaska as I know the Alaska teams have to do it for every road trip to the lower 48. What bothers me this year is the WCHA Schedule Maker. As I understand it, when a team goes to Alaska, they are supposed to have a bye week or a home series the next weekend. Earlier this year, the Beavers this year went to Fairbanks and the went to Mankato the next weekend. Now they go to Anchorage and then follow it up with a trip to Bowling Green.

At least they got 11 of 12 points on the first trip. We will see if they can get 9 of 12 on this trip.
Apparently this has to do with the moving of the tournament and thus losing one weekend. A number of teams ended up with tough schedules. I feel for the Alaska schools though. You can understand the travel issues generally but then to schedule a number of the home games on weekends where no one is in town, that makes it that much harder.

Friday's game has been picked up Nationally via the American Sports Network online, in Canada through TSN as well as locally via MEtv in the Twin cities. Great to get some national and Canadian television coverage and interest. Now don't blow it Beavs

Looking forward to breaking out the trusty pair of rebbit ears and watching tomorrow night's game on KSTC MeTV out of the Cities!

Millsy, you better listen too! Weird seeing Mr. Bob here in BG...and not you!

I will be listening as well! Good thing I got all of my hockey travels out of the way when I was single. Family life and two kids in hockey now slow down the travel schedule.

Re: Bemidji State Beavers: 2016-17

Getting Dominated outside of the first 10 min. Seems like we're out of gas. 5 penalties through 1.5 periods

Not a well played second period at all. Lucky to only be down 1. BG is playing very aggressive on offense and it is flustering us. Because of it they are prone to giving up odd man rushes which we got a couple towards the end of the period just have to take advantage

BSU's Magic Number to win the MacNaughton Cup outright is at 24 points. I think they are going to need a little help from teams on the Huskies' schedule

The remaining WCHA games for the Beavers and the Huskies.

BSU (49 WCHA Points, 8 games left)
-Ferris State
-Michigan Tech
-at Alabama-Huntsville
-Mankato

Michigan Tech (36 WCHA Points, 12 games left)
-Alaska-Anchorage
-Mankato
-at Alabama-Huntsville
-at Bemidji State
-Ferris State
-home and home with Northern Michigan

GO BEAVERS!!!!

The next two weekends are going to be really key for Mich Tech as we are off this weekend are out of conference with the NorthStar Cup those 4 games in hand could really make a difference. If Tech wins all 4 we might be in trouble going into the series against the Huskies. Things will probably get very interesting and that series the first weekend of February will be extremely important in deciding the winner. Should be a very interesting last month and a half

Those games against Tech will be huge as each one could be a six point gain for the Beavers (+3 for the Beavers' win, -3 for the Huskies' loss). But the Beavers also need points against Ferris before that and it would be nice if Tech stubs their toe a litte against Anchorage, Mankato and Huntsville. Anchorage has been playing better as of late and strange things always seem to happen in Huntsville.

BSU's Magic Number to win the MacNaughton Cup outright is at 21 points. 8 points gets them home ice in the first round, 13 points gets them home ice in the first and second round.

Geoff - My numbers show BSU 67 pts, MTU 66 pts. What do your numbers show?

Re: Bemidji State Beavers: 2016-17

Well, this sucks for those of us that don't live in the Bemidji area. Lakeland Public Television will not broadcast the BSU home playoff games. It would be nice if they could find a way to "blackout" the local area like the NFL used to do. From Lakeland News out of Bemidji.

Re: Bemidji State Beavers: 2016-17

So with the talk of BSU pulling the home playoff games off of TV, the discussion of ticket prices has come up. Here is what I was able to gather from the various athletic websites around the league. I am not including any "premium" games or fees that may be charged.

BSU: 18, 25, 30, 45 (12 youth)
Alabama-Huntsville: 13, 8
Alaska: 19, 11
Alaska-Anchorage: 23.75, 19.50, 10
Bowling Green: 20, 15, 13
Ferris State: 16 (10 youth)
Lake Superior State: 12 (6 youth)
Mankato: 16 (8 youth)
Michigan Tech: 18 (10 youth)
Northern Michigan: 16, 15 (10 youth)

Looks like there may be some wiggle room for BSU, especially at the upper end.

Re: Bemidji State Beavers: 2016-17

The Beavers unveiled a whole new ticket scheme for the playoff push. Youth tickets for all remaining regular season home games are $7, adult tickets for all remaining regular season FRIDAY games (not Saturday) are $16, and $55 will get you into the club level for all remaining home games with an all you can eat buffet (drinks extra).

It's a start, I guess. If I was looking at the price points, I would look at $25 for club level, $18 for the sides, $14-$15 for the corners/end and $10 for youth. That would put BSU right in line with the rest of the WCHA. That would also leave you some wiggle room for the "premium" non-conference games (UND, Minn, SCSU and UMD). I would also look at bringing back the family four pack that they tried several years ago. Two adult end tickets, two youth tickets, two popcorns and four drinks for $50.

Of course, this would also then require some adjusting of season ticket prices as well.
