Bemidji @ Minnesota - Rodents, Rodents, Everywhere

Re: Bemidji @ Minnesota - Rodents, Rodents, Everywhere

That was a very pretty goal by george.... Someone might want to check the gopher's locker room for kangas's jock.... Good game so far. Gotta love the hits.

I will give you credit for manning up. Kudos, good sir. :)

Minus that whole 5 on 3--4 on 3 deal.....MN dominated the play. It finally started resulting in goals in the third.

And Bakala's mask? *ing AWESOME. I am bowing down in reverance to it. So epic.

Re: Bemidji @ Minnesota - Rodents, Rodents, Everywhere

I only got to watch during the SCSU/UND intermissions, but BSU didn't look to good tonight on the offensive end. They sure had great effort, but I didn't see much skill.

Re: Bemidji @ Minnesota - Rodents, Rodents, Everywhere

Very good game, I am proud of both teams. Tomorrow should be a good one. And even though as a proud bsu grad, I am very thankful the gophers started to play up to their potential. Great physical game. What are the gophers going to do now that they are down to 21 players? To bad loft decided to quit, he might of actually had a chance to play tomorrow.

Son you are a SCSU fan.... you wouldn't know skill if it bit you on the arse and called you mama...... :D

Anyone have update on Flynn? It took me forever to figure out who was out of the line-up. Hope he's OK, we can ill afford too many more injuries.

Thought the Gophers played pretty well. Also thought Bemidji played pretty well...not supposed to sound like a slam, but they didn't show a ton of raw talent but played a very hard, physical game and showed a lot of "hockey sense"....something the Gophers often seem to lack.

BSU's game is ABC hockey (not an insult, btw):

Play tough
Don't make mistakes, don't be flashy
Counterattack, rather than all out attack

This works for them, due to the players they end up getting, although it might adjust a little when they join the "big boys" of the WCHA (more tv presence, more exposure, etc etc etc).

I mean, it's pretty simple: you attack when you can, and capitalize on opponents' mistakes when they bumrush your zone (which happened a few times tonight against MN, who looked like they went in all-out-attack-mode all night). Get that lead, and hopefully your bread and butter defense can hold 'em.

I see WI in a similar vein, except they employ the trap, and have higher skill players (obviously).

I think the turning point (or for you ESPN TMQ readers, the "game over" point) was the killing of the super-extended BSU powerplay. After that.....they were, dare I say, listless at times. That was a BIG blow to their hopes for a second goal.

Edit: remember the Greatest Show On Turf? The StL Rams? The question was, at the time, how do you stop them? The answer? Punch 'em in the mouth, like the Pats. Basic football. I see the same thing with BSU. They punch the flashy teams square in the mouth, and win.

Re: Bemidji @ Minnesota - Rodents, Rodents, Everywhere

The gophers deserved to win tonight. The officiating was a mix of confusion amongst the officials. The game had a very positive flow up until the second period until Shepard and Anderson appeared not to know what each other was calling. It was obvious as a fan that the miscommunication between them changed the flow of the game.

Hats off to the gophers. Too bad they won't let the kids play the game and insist on dictating the flow of the game.

BTW... the seats at Mariucci were very good. Even better than our seats during the F5 at the Xcel. Comfy. mmmm

I love their Christmas song, might have to go over to youtube and see if I can find it.

Their "Great White North" album is excellent. I'd recommend it.

Well, it IS the Mecca. ;)

And I know I've said it before, but congrats on your new arena, to replace the arena that is dwarfed by many TC-area hockey arenas. :p

Shepard is always a peice of S%%T he is the reason that they took the names of the officials off their uniforms this year....... I guess he did like it when all the fans at Mariucci are yelling F%%K YOU SHEPARD....!!!!!!!! after his natoriously bad calls.

Re: Bemidji @ Minnesota - Rodents, Rodents, Everywhere

You can't swing a dead cat in a WCHA rink without hitting a Shepherd.
