BC vs Wisconsin...for All the Marbles

Re: BC vs Wisconsin...for All the Marbles

BC brought their A+ game tonight and Wisconsin brought their C-game.

Congratulations to BC

Re: BC vs Wisconsin...for All the Marbles

Congratulations BC. Great game tonight, you were the best team, no doubt.

Please don't let the rest of my post take anything away from the effort of your boys tonight, you played awesome.

I am just a die hard Badger fan, and I need to vent some things to make myself feel better (IF the game went the other way, I'd let you do it).

A couple bad calls by the refs really hurt the Badgers momentum. BC's first goal was on a bad call (in my opinion). Mitchell's elbow was a bad call. Turnbul's contact to the head looked bad, although the tv did not get a good view of it. I was also surprised at how many times Geoffrion was kicked out of the face off circle.

That all being said, a great team should be able to overcome the refs, and we did not do that tonight. We had a lot of great opportunities tonight that we either did not convert on, or Muse came up HUGE.

Davies normally can stick handle "inside a phone booth", and he showed that when he caught that pass out of the air....but then the puck hopped over his stick, and he didn't even get a shot on that break away. (I'm not blaming you at all Davies, two great opportunities just did not work out...you still rock

We had a ton of opportunities where we could not put the puck away (being our own fault or Muse's awesome saves).

Ok, thanks for reading all of that (if you still are), and congratulations to BC on being the 2010 national champions, and congratulations to my Wisconsin Badgers for an unbelievable season. My hat is off to you both.

Oh yeah, one more thing...if this was a 7 game series, my Cardinal colored glasses say we win 4-3. :D

Re: BC vs Wisconsin...for All the Marbles

Muse will get credit for a SO

And the D will get credit for the ridiculously few shots allowed.

And the O will get credit for the respectable number of shots on, including a few real snipes.

Here, credit. Take it!

So, here's hoping your whole team consists of seniors or NHL players who leave tomorrow. :D

Honestly, I don't think Buckie played badly. True, they didn't get the bounces but even if they had the Eagles win 5-3. Let's be real aint no team in CH going to stop that train.

3 in a Row; Go Hockey Beast !!!

Before we let you get carried away a quick history check of the last ten years--the national title scoreboard looks like this

WCHA 5
Hockey Least 4*
CCHA 1

* 3 of these are BC's

Again, great effort by the Eagles, they won...but if (and I know that if's and but's don't matter) the Badgers score on a few of those opportunities, it is 4-3, and then (BC's 5th was an ENG with what 4mins left?) the game is different then 5-0.

I'm going to keep saying this...great game Eagles. I hate when losing teams in Badger threads say "but if", and since I am doing that thing, I apologize...but if... :D

Re: BC vs Wisconsin...for All the Marbles

Props to the Bucky fans who came back after getting dominated.

I hope that the guys preaching Bucky "depth" now understand what real depth looks like - rolling 4 forward lines out evenly and repeatedly all night. That situation, if all 4 lines are true quality lines, is a tough one to face down. Props to the BC coaching staff for recruiting the right people to make this a reality.

Any one think that Jerry York needs to write a book? How does he get so many different teams playing their best at this time in the year? Even when BC doesn't win it all, they still are a very tough out and still advance to the FF nearly every time they are in the NCAAs.

In closing, I hate to say I told you so, but . . . . . . . . . . . . .

This is definitely a special team - you won't see a team completely destroy two top notch squads like Miami and Wisco in the same weekend. I'm blown away, and won't ever forget this BC squad.

And John Muse, you da man! Stop 'em when they count, buddy!

Before you get carried away, let's look at the last 3 years.

Commonwealth Avenue - 3
Rest of the Free World - 0

Congrats to BC! Hopefully we can meet again soon for the rubber match, as it stands at 1-1 now... :)

Re: BC vs Wisconsin...for All the Marbles

My veiw on the game again just my veiw
-UW did not have puck luck

-Game was very enetertaing and competitive until after the second Goal when UW started pressing and taking more risks, which BC took advantage of

-BC's speed was incredible UW could not match it

-if UW converts on one of their oppurtonities in the first two periods I feel it would have been a different (closer) game but not enough to get UW the win

-Congrats BC

Re: BC vs Wisconsin...for All the Marbles

Speed kills... I think that point was made abundantly clear today.

That said, BC won a lot of battles on the boards against a much bigger team.

I'm going to pick out this paragraph to disagree with. I kept saying to my dad that our third and fourth lines were putting more pressure on than our first and second tonight. We do have depth. That being said, we did lose, so I won't say any more about that.
