Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

To clarify, I wasn't commenting on other teams, but more what we're used to seeing from a BC team. I don't feel the secondary scoring is as strong on this BC team compared to others. Now, that really might not mean anything at all in the grand scheme of things. We'll see. I do think there's a difference when you just look at a team's top three scorers and not whether all three of those guys play on the same line. You can see a more even distribution with say the top four scorers spread across two lines.
FWIW, QU's top 3 scorers are on the same line (Jone's brothers and Anas). I didn't check any other teams, but my guess is the results will be similar.

I'm going to post some FACTS and hopefully put this secondary scoring thing to rest. OR, at least help some folks sleep better at night. ;)

From 12/6/13 through 2/14/14 (16 games played, 15-0-1)...
The G-A-H line has scored 35 goals... 6 of them game winning goals (4 ENG).
Secondary scoring........... 37 goals... 9 of them game winning goals (1 ENG).

Does that make anyone feel any better, or is there more that should be expected from this team?
FWIW, no worries on my end. This team works so hard that good things will, and do happen.

Remember this... last season BC had one super scoring line and ZERO secondary scoring. The super line was broken up, resulting in little primary scoring and still ZERO secondary scoring. I would suggest that this years Eagles would wipe the ice with last years team. JMO.

in other news, i believe sterlippo brought up that it doesn't seem bc has been on tv as much compared to previous years. my father emailed bates about this topic and bates got back to him within a few hours, said they have already met with NESN to discuss. says there are some possibilities.

cool

The UVM color guy was unreal

he "cant stand BC " and called the team "annoying" which made him sound like a 14 year old girl. What an asshat.............. A little hairy at the end there but we'll take it.

Last year's team was the worst one since prior to the 97-98 season. No joke.

I thought it was interesting that Demko tracked down the guy that gave Matheson a little hit after the final whistle.
The kid has grit. Will help keep his team focused for tomorrow night.

I change my weekend prediction to sweep. Handily. ;)

Game highlights with Demko going after #2 Michael Paliotta at the end of the game. It looks like #21 Mario Puskarich actually took Matheson down.

You wanna pay 9.95 for equally bad commentating like other HE schools? ;)

good point:cool:

Johnny Hockey has to be the odds on favorite to win the Hobey Baker, will it even be close?

shouldn't be but you never know, he is from an eastern school after all:rolleyes:

you need to let this go ;):p

The UVM color guy was unreal

Yes, he was. I took stock of THAT situation real quick by muting my Mac's audio and watching and listening to the previous season of 'House of Cards' on my iPad. There was no replay, so I needed to 'rewind' to see the goals again. Also, no penalty clock which made for a 'Who's-On-First?' viewing experience.

but it really was comical after a while. I lol'ed a lot so make sure to listen tonight!:D

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

then there was THIS classic

“BC is really irritating in that they win all the time”

hahhahahahhahahhaha!!!!!!!!

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

Here's to hoping the Eagles tighten up the D tonight, and Demko is a little sharper in net.
This shouldn't be a cat & mouse game... bury those bahstads!

I noted this as a little odd... is Demko looking to get his *** kicked? I'd be surprised if he didn't get a little more action tonight physically.

I thought Matheson was looking for it all night to be honest, by the end of the first I was thinking Brickley had found his target for the night.

Sorry for the commentators... I've never really watched a game online but I'm sure they are like most home team announcers. Good game either way, Demko's awesome and the BC D is great. I think at least from those of us who aren't fans of BC that is the under rated part of the team. You hear about Demko, and the offensive power but the D was what impressed me. I hope our streak of playing better on Saturday continues...

By who? It's not like he came in there guns blazing. He strolled over and had some words, nothing serious. Plus at his size with all that padding...and the fact if a UVM player really wanted to start something with him the whole BC team on the ice would have jumped in (as would any team in protecting their goalie). Didn't seem like much to me. To be honest, I didn't think the hit/trip (whatever you wanna call it) on Matheson was all that bad either.

I thought Matheson was looking for it all night to be honest, by the end of the first I was thinking Brickley had found his target for the night.

Knowing how he plays, he probably was. But, he is very capable of holding his own in that department. He has some crazy in him and can play a physical game. Having said that, I'm ok with him playing on the edge if you will provided he produces in the end. +3, one assist and zero PIMs on the night. If he can do that while still playing with an edge, that is exactly what I'm looking for.

On the pregame they were saying maybe Vermont's biggest crowd ever at Gutterson, but only got listed as 4,007. Capacity on USCHO is listed as 4,035 but that doesn't seem right.

Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

glad i didn't watch after hearing this. that's embarrassing.
It was the entire game, too. It *was* pretty funny but also had to have been really embarrassing for the other, younger guy, because he kind of shrugged it off each time and was really a pretty quality announcer.

Here is the GIF post -- highlights were already posted above.

I think the announcers were just getting carried away... The Gutt is nearly always a sell out so how it can be the "biggest" game ever is beyond me. Tied for the biggest game I guess... Capacity is just over 4000 so that is about right. We desperately need a new arena with about 2000 more seats.

As for Demko, my point was not a brawl occurring just that whining after the game likely results in a few more sticks slapping at him, maybe a few more whacks at the end of the play etc. Someone got under his skin enough so he felt the need to go have words after the game... that's precisely where UVM would like to be... under his skin. And I am sure no one on the team is too concerned with the whole BC team jumping in. If they feel like they need to, I'm sure UVM would be happy to oblige.

With Matheson, I would agree very much... if he can be needling players and taking a few liberties with them, getting under their skin and still produce... heck yeah. That's what we would like from Brickley, unfortunatey the refs watch for him and call the slightest thing making it ... less successful.
