Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham
Anyway, nice Piszpot win last night.
Northeastern impressed me. They really were running with BC and dictated the game during that 2nd period and were banging BC up on the walls pretty good. It was very odd to see, not many teams can pull that off. Witt is a very good goalie. Where this guy came from I'll never know but he is a very very good goalie.
Was waiting for some secondary scoring and thought it would be Brown or Cangelosi. Jeez, Straight almost scored the winner in the 3rd period with a nice cut-in move. That would have been something else.
I'm always impressed with the way this BC team functions and the culture they are able to cultivate annually. Brown last night was interviewed by Channel 5 and he immediately said how happy he was to win it for the freshmen and get them their first Piszpot. And it was genuine. I thought Arnold was a shoe-in for the C but Brown is a great captain and the team seems to have the intangibles that will help down the line.
Once again we see BC being able to win any type of game. That also is a good indicator.
Liked how the refs let them play. NU got 3 pretty soft calls. They run Demko no call. They haul down Sit and no call, but a kid goes falling into the goalie by himself before Linell touches him and they call the penalty on Linell. OK. Gaudreau got hooked down so bad in the 3rd period by the NU bench it was laughable. Whatever, made for an interesting game and didn't cost BC luckily.
Demko is obviously a pimp. This kid coming in at 17 keeps him around a year longer than he would have if he came in next year as an 18 year old. This was a huge recruiting coup when BC pulled him in. Have to think we can get 3 maybe even 4 years out of him, hopefully. With this kid, BC is a national title contender in any year.
Trophy season, yay. On to the next one. BC will probably win a trophy (the Dick Umile Memorial Trophy) this weekend away from Conte.
