Re: BC Hockey '13-'14: The Quest To Make Holy Cross Transitive Property National Cham

So theoretically the Eagles could clinch as soon as next Monday? Which would also give them the beanpot title?
The Beanpot games are nonconference so they don't count in the conference standings, but assuming a win against Merrimack on Friday, we would clinch home ice if UNH doesn't sweep Vermont this weekend. So yeah as another poster said, it's almost a mathematical certainty at this point.

there are no alcoholic drinks sold within the stadium, correct?
Correct, though as profromdover said, the alumni club has alcohol I believe.

But is there still a concession for popcorn or pop or water?
There is no pop but plenty of soda :D

What is the closest and/or best pub to grab a bite to eat before the game?
Obviously not relevant if you end up going with pro to the alumni club, but there are a few choices about a half mile away in Cleveland Circle -- Cityside and Roggies to name the favorites. Maryanns if you don't want to make it to the game later. There's an Applebees as well if you want to go to more of a chain restaurant place.

We are coming straight from TD and the Bruins game that afternoon (hoping to get into the Saturday game as we arrive late Friday night and the series will be over by Sunday :) ), so if Google transit is correct it is about a 50 minute train ride to Conte?
That seems about right, although the B line can be kind of a b!+c# at times and it can end up being a bit longer than that. Reason being, the B line stops at almost every intersection, is in the middle of the street, and goes through the scummy end of Comm Ave (which is to say, Boston University's campus) where it gets pretty busy and holds up the trains sometimes. If you take the C or D line it's much faster and you end up right next to the aforementioned sports bars, though a half mile or so from the actual arena.

Also, I understand why you want to keep Johny Hockey, but comeon', you had him for three years! Share the wealth :P
But he's so GOODDDDDDDD...

So Grant, we really needed Harvard to beat Northeastern in the women's Beanpot so we would have a chance to beat them and improve our PWR?? That right? I cant believe that BC is so close to not making it looking at the women's PWR, only #7. The league isn't strong at all huh?

It didn't really matter if it was Harvard or NU, playing HU would only have helped us out a little bit.

We're in 7th but pretty far clear of 8th and are are a TUC/CoOpp win away from flipping the RMU comparison for 6th. We're also closer to 4th than we are to 8th and are on one of the biggest hot streaks in the country.

We'll be fine.

Nope, she's burned for the whole season. Redshirt.

Which is good, because her and Skarupa will both be seniors in 2016 this way (the FF that year is at UNH).

Thanks very much for the information, a lot of clarification there. I would definitely like to take the most direct route, I know getting everyone to the stadium will be like herding cats... but if it saves us a lot of time then a short walk won't be so bad. Assuming it is decent outside... whats the weather like on St. Patrick's day around there? Can't be much colder than the -22 F we have here.

It'll probably be in the 40s or so. March can vary wildly, you could have 20s or you could have 60s. But 40s is a good guess.

The B line is more "direct" in that you won't need to change trains at all. The D line is much, much faster but you'll have that walk. Adding in the walk you're probably better off just sticking with the B line.

BC students all take the D line because there is a campus shuttle bus from the Reservoir stop that goes in to campus. Anyone can use it (you don't have to be a student) but if that's not your cup of tea it might be easier to just bite the bullet and take the B.

Once you get to BC's campus though it's very compact and easy to get around. One of the nicest campuses you'll ever see.

Rewatching a little of Monday on the DVR several things, only through 1st period but much more encouraged:

In addition to the Fitz goal, in the first 8 minutes of the game BC had 3 2 on 1s that they just missed and cangelosi all alone. Credit o'connor for making the saves

Also Demko can really handle the puck, was huge on thePK

We have a booster club that sells good food, beer and wine before the game and in between periods. I'd be happy to buy you a beer, or two, when you get here. Contact me offline.

if those guys bring an girl traveling with the stag party and she is ok taking pictures with old(er) type guys, they will get a beer or three!! :D (isn't that right ;) )

Ignore mookie. He supports BU and his school doesn't have a campus. It's a scummy stretch of Comm Ave filled with homeless people interspersed with the occasional academic building.

with an interstate running through it:p

Yes but it's still true you cannot discount what Gerbe did in the 2008 postseason. He probably had the most dominating Frozen Four in the last 25 years (better than Vanek in 2003 I think). He was unstoppable.

mookie has already typed this too many times to count... but nate was the only player that when he jumped the boards i watched... puck or not... until he left the ice. and i've been watching bu hockey since the fall of 1986 (disclaimer: didn't see a game in person in calendar year 1992)

with an interstate running through it:p

that of course has nothing to do with claiming bc has one of the nicest you'll ever see!

if you are comparing nu/bc/suffolk/emerson/bc there are some with a point i could see claiming bc is the nicest... but even then if you want to go to a bar you have to hike or drive to cleveland circle. so it would not be on my list out of those 5.

The Hockey Booster Club is called Pikes Peak and a member with an extra card can escort you up. It's not very big but it's there.

It has that nice community college feel too it.
