BC gearing up.

Re: BC gearing up.

Be careful what you wish for. BU beat BC four times in a row in 2006 and then lost the one that mattered the most, at the NCAA Regionals in Worcester. Maybe it would be sweet for YOU - I'm guessing that the team probably does not want to play them again.

Man, you guys have really gotten spoiled. This is HOCKEY we're talking about. Do you realize how difficult it is to win a National Championship? Did you forget how BC hit the post against Wisconsin with one second left that would have tied the game? How about when North Dakota wiped out your 2-0 lead and almost won in regulation before you won in overtime? How about the Hockey East semi-finals against UNH and the overtimes? Remember when you almost lost to Mercyhurst (I think it was them - one of those teams) in Worcester? Anything can happen in one game - this is not a best-of-seven. One bad bounce can end your season. Do you think Miami was disappointed in 2009? They haven't even been CLOSE to being back since then. Just count your blessings, buddy.

er...since I live in Massachusetts I would not know how the weather is in Grand Forks (I assume you're talking to me, since I happened to mention North Dakota - I guess I can't name a team without you assuming that I'm from there). How's the weather on the South Shore? Have you lost any more coastline yet?

Oh, that's right. You went beserk when a few of us suggested that we should root for BC last weekend so that we would have a chance to finish second. Silly me for opening my mouth. I'm sure that the teams are waiting with baited breath to hear what I have to say! As I told you on the other thread, this is a DISCUSSION board! I'll say what I want, just as everyone else does. I think you have an obsession with BC. I don't care who is "superior" to whom. Anyone can win on a given night. I wouldn't say they have exactly annihilated us this year...except for one instance, the games have been close. My comments were directed at BCeagle. I haven't told YOU what to say in any of your 21,300 posts.

I hear you and I knew I would get some flak for that...HOWEVER, I don't really like being TOLD (or even "asked") to "dial it back" (even if she did say "please"). I think that anyone who goes to that extreme is taking themselves too seriously. I'll repeat this again - it's a discussion board and we are entitled to voice our O P I N I O N S. It's not that I don't respect Scarlet, and I guess "longevity" carries with it some rank. On the other hand, I don't really appreciate the condescending tone of some of the posters here - be they "veterans" OR "newbies." The fact that you think I am "new" has nothing to do with anything. I may be new to this board, but I have been around a LONG time. I graduated in 1976 - and I don't claim "rank" as a result of that. The fact that she (or anyone else) has ten million posts does not carry with it the right to "admonish" me. So I was just standing my ground, that's all. Actually, the whole thing is kind of funny given that it is taking place on a BC thread...
Appears to me you're either: (choose all that apply)
1. Gullible (you' think this is a BC thread)
2. Senile (you did just basically tell us your age) ;)
3. Arrogant (you can do the admonishing, but don't admonish you!)
4. Need to take a good dump. Letting that stuff build up inside can make one pretty ornery. :p :D

1. True
2. Yup. When Nimini arrives on December 21, 2012, I'm hopping on to go live with the Anunnaki
3. Not true - defensive, yes. Arrogant, no. There are enough BU and BC fans like that already.
4. Yeah...that happens when one gets older, as well.

But, seriously, I have a real hard time when some (and I don't know her age, but I assume she is yonger than I) one who I presume is either a student or not long out (I don't know Scarlet and wouldn't know her if she were standing in front of me) tells me to do ANYTHING. Apparently there is a double-standard - the "veteran" posters get to decide who says what. As I mentioned before, I graduated from BU, so I cheer for them, because they're my school. But I do not HATE the opponents. And any of these morons who are admonishing me perhaps should listen to themselves. If you want to talk about arrogant, how about a cheer that goes "_ _ _ _ 'em up - _ _ _ _ 'em up! BC _ u c k s!" Even when we're not PLAYING BC!!!! I imagine the opponents fans must think we've really lost it. Hence, my comment about the "obsession" with BC. Personally, when BC wins the National Championship, I feel as though it makes the league look better. Why would you want some team from the CCHA or WCHA (who has won like a gazillion titles more than the rest of the leagues put together) to win? So who's the one who is screwed up here? If a nuclear bomb blew up Massachusetts and the only place left were BC and Scarlet had to have lunch, she would starve rather than go there. And I'M being called the arrogant one? I don't think so. But I'll just go away now and make everyone happy, because I've made my point and nobody wants to listen to this anymore. P.S. I'm glad you had a good time up at UNH. The fans there are great. I always enjoy the games against them!

Re: BC gearing up.

This thread sucks.

And for the record, if I found myself rooting for bu just so BC could end up SECOND IN THE STANDINGS (??) I would burn my diploma.

Re: BC gearing up.

It seriously does not compute in my head how you could be happy when BC wins the national championship. The night bu won, I was not a fun person to be around.

I don't believe I said "happy." I said that it "makes the league look better." The more the league wins, the better talent they will attract and the more competitive the league will become. If you want to burn your diploma, go right ahead. When you grow up and become a little more mature, you will have a different perspective on things. If you think it's outrageous that I don't "hate" BC, then that's YOUR problem, not mine...

I laugh when people say "Why can't we all just get along?" "Why do we have wars?" People can't even get along with their families and neighbors, how do we expect people from different cultures to coexist?

Agreed. The night BC won last year I was not in the greatest mood(from what people tell me) like "yay HE won a national title!" Part of the rivalry is to never root for the other. I couldn't force myself to root for BC this weekend no matter what the consequences were for us. I just think there is a difference between respecting the opponet and rooting for them to win a national title. I respect BC as a program but you will never find me rooting for them in any way.

Thanks. I know I'm idealistic and things will never be the way I envision them, but I just love the game and don't need all of the "extraneous" stuff to motivate me. And I only get defensive when someone assaults me. :)
