BC gearing up.

Re: BC gearing up.

IF BC doesn't win the national title this year, the 2010-2011 season will be a disappointment.

Well, yes, it will be a disappointment if they don't win it. That being said, there are other teams out there who would feel the same way.

What? Arrogance isn't just a Minnesota thing? Well gee... I need to move.

Wait, who was being arrogant?

Re: BC gearing up.

Honestly most BC fans would rather have the HE Tournament. Coming in 2nd place would not be a big deal. Vermont did beat BC once this year but UMass plays BC tougher. It would be sweet playing BU again in the post season. It's possible we could play them 2 more times, HE Tournament and NCAA's.

Be careful what you wish for. BU beat BC four times in a row in 2006 and then lost the one that mattered the most, at the NCAA Regionals in Worcester. Maybe it would be sweet for YOU - I'm guessing that the team probably does not want to play them again.

Man, you guys have really gotten spoiled. This is HOCKEY we're talking about. Do you realize how difficult it is to win a National Championship? Did you forget how BC hit the post against Wisconsin with one second left that would have tied the game? How about when North Dakota wiped out your 2-0 lead and almost won in regulation before you won in overtime? How about the Hockey East semi-finals against UNH and the overtimes? Remember when you almost lost to Mercyhurst (I think it was them - one of those teams) in Worcester? Anything can happen in one game - this is not a best-of-seven. One bad bounce can end your season. Do you think Miami was disappointed in 2009? They haven't even been CLOSE to being back since then. Just count your blessings, buddy.

I'm fairly confident in saying York and this group of players doesn't care one bit if they have to play BU again.

I don't even know if the person you quoted is a BC fan.

As for your specifics, I don't recall UND almost winning that game in regulation, but maybe I'm just forgetting a play. Regardless, winning the national title is not easy. I think that person was joking...

Dial it back, please. We all remember that year. BC's team that year was far superior to BU's team this year so we will not see a repeat of that. I know I want no part of seeing the Eagles again this year.

1. BC would LOVE to end BU's season.
2. Comparing this year's BC team to the terribly overrated BU team in 2006 and this year's mediocre BU squad to BC's 2006 team is total buffoonery. Not even close on either comparison.

Me neither. The breakaway save by Clemmensen was in overtime. BUT... Gionta almost won it with a great bid in the final 10 seconds of regulation.

Re: BC gearing up.

Once again Boston College is hitting its stride just in time for the NCAA t'ment,Eagles captured HE regular season title with home and away victories over closest rival UNH this wknd.

Newbies are awesome! :D

How's the weather out in Grand Forks? ;)

Nah the team could care less who they play. If BC happens to play BU again then let it be. From our POV seeing more HE teams in the National Tournament the more exciting for HE fans. UNH, MC, BU, Maine, etc. are all good teams from a strong Conference, unlike some others.

Re: BC gearing up.

If you're talking about the breakaway in Albany against Lundbohm (?sp), that was in the 2nd period.

Probably right. Did he have two breakaways that Clem saved with the glove? I looked back on the Heights article and it seems he had one in the 1st or 2nd period (tough to tell what period he was talking about) and one in overtime:

With less than two minutes remaining in the period, BC was caught deep in the North Dakota zone. While all five Eagles were trapped up in their offensive zone trying to net the game's first goal, North Dakota's Bryan Lundbohm crept up toward the BC net. A long pass through the neutral zone found his stick and Lundbohm was in all alone on Clemmensen with a chance to score. Clemmensen stood his ground, cut down the angle, and baited Lundbohm to go glove side. Lundbohm looked to top shelf the puck past Clemmensen's left shoulder; instead, Clemmensen made a brilliant glove save, preserving the shutout period.

They certainly did. BC came out with more intensity than they had in the game's opening. North Dakota had the extra period's first chance when Bryan Lundbohm broke free with 17:50 to play. Lundbohm fired a shot toward the upper corner, but Clemmensen's glove was there to save BC once again.

I'll have to watch it again sometime. Nothing beats being there, though.

er...since I live in Massachusetts I would not know how the weather is in Grand Forks (I assume you're talking to me, since I happened to mention North Dakota - I guess I can't name a team without you assuming that I'm from there). How's the weather on the South Shore? Have you lost any more coastline yet?

Oh, that's right. You went beserk when a few of us suggested that we should root for BC last weekend so that we would have a chance to finish second. Silly me for opening my mouth. I'm sure that the teams are waiting with baited breath to hear what I have to say! As I told you on the other thread, this is a DISCUSSION board! I'll say what I want, just as everyone else does. I think you have an obsession with BC. I don't care who is "superior" to whom. Anyone can win on a given night. I wouldn't say they have exactly annihilated us this year...except for one instance, the games have been close. My comments were directed at BCeagle. I haven't told YOU what to say in any of your 21,300 posts.

Actually, it was either the end of the first or the beginning of the third. I think it was the first. The Flickertail goalie was to my right in the 1st, 3rd & OT. I spoke to Lundbohm's younger brother the next year, while I was out to UND, and he told me his brother said it was the best save any goalie had ever made on him.

Re: BC gearing up.

After UND had tied the game, I recall there was a wicked slappuh from about 20 feet out that Clem gloved. It wasn't a breakaway, but off a faceoff, IIRC. Clem was hugging the blocker side post and the shot had the top corner, glove side pegged. It was a real blast and Clem gloved it! I thought the game ended right there. Can't recall if it was late in the 3rd or in OT, but I'm guessing OT. A spectacular save. :)

Pretty sure that save was in OT.

i think from what i've read of your posts that you're pretty good though you don't post much, you should.:) your career here, then, is still in it's nascency:eek: therefore, i think that trying to flame with scarlet is kinda like a no mas:mad:, especially here. we like scarlet and I get what she's saying except in the reverse but forget i said that;):p and you are right IMO on the "anyone can win on any given night" thing and I for one would prefer to not play someone i am 4-0 against in the same year but that's just me, continue

I hear you and I knew I would get some flak for that...HOWEVER, I don't really like being TOLD (or even "asked") to "dial it back" (even if she did say "please"). I think that anyone who goes to that extreme is taking themselves too seriously. I'll repeat this again - it's a discussion board and we are entitled to voice our O P I N I O N S. It's not that I don't respect Scarlet, and I guess "longevity" carries with it some rank. On the other hand, I don't really appreciate the condescending tone of some of the posters here - be they "veterans" OR "newbies." The fact that you think I am "new" has nothing to do with anything. I may be new to this board, but I have been around a LONG time. I graduated in 1976 - and I don't claim "rank" as a result of that. The fact that she (or anyone else) has ten million posts does not carry with it the right to "admonish" me. So I was just standing my ground, that's all. Actually, the whole thing is kind of funny given that it is taking place on a BC thread...
