Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

Re: Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

So not having read the comic books and knowing nothing of the storyline, I have to say I find the reveal in previews for BvS a bit annoying. Not in that I wouldn't have expected something like it along the way, but I'd have preferred it be out of sight out of mind leading up to it.

Re: Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

Another case for "trailers reveal too much "

I get that they are meant more to drive interest and get butts in seats, regardless of how it impacts the viewing experience. But still.

Re: Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

As someone who has followed the production from the word go in crazy ways, I can tell you the trailers reveal ****ed near nothing. In fact the trailers muddied the waters more and made things less obvious than they were. We (the weirdos following this movie religiously) all have more questions now than we did at Comic Con last year before the first trailers hit. In fact, you can read this months Entertainment Weekly and get more spoilers than any trailer gave. Hell half the trailers are the same footage only enhanced. (like Superman saving the rocket, Batman flying the Batplane, Wonder Woman in one scene) The movie is 151 minutes and we have seen like 10. (actually one guy clocked it and with tv spots it is like 11)

Lets put it this way, and I wont give spoilers cause I have done my best to avoid them (though they are out there) the trailers are cut the way they are for a reason. The things that have been revealed (like the big one in trailer 2) were done so tactically. WB and Snyder went hardcore on security for this film like nothing I have ever seen. (think Force Awakens) What has been revealed from time to time has always been to steer conversation a certain way only to flip it a month later on the next reveal. Just from the few spy pics we got though I can tell you there is a lot that hasnt been revealed yet including characters and plot points.

Long story short...if the freaks like me who followed this hour by hour and have seen way more than the general public dont feel like the trailers showed too much, then it probably hasnt. We will see in a week though.

Slap Shot,

Just because a certain character shows up doesnt mean it will follow the storyline they are best known for in the comics. In this case I would almost bet on it.

Since I am going dark on the movie til I see it next Thursday though, I probably will not be seen in this thread for a while on the off chance spoilers end up here.

I honestly just named the thread this because those were the two biggest movies coming out, that I could remember. I doubt I'll see either in the theaters. :o

Funny, cause Marvel's Civil War is going to destroy both of them at the box office.

Re: Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

It probably would be best to start a different movie thread and leave this one for the discussion of those movies so people dont get confused. This seems like a spoiler thread not the general movies thread. Just my 2 pennies.

Re: Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

Yeah, I did not think this was supposed to be the standard movie thread at all. Brent fails at the internet.

....Again.

Handy - a lot of that makes sense thanks.

And although I didn't read the cbs I will mo definitely see this one with the kids in IMAX.

Except it says "Movies Thread" and not "Spoiler/etc Discussion." :p

Go ahead and start a new movie thread, though. *shrug* :)

Re: Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

I just saw the Ben-Hur trailers.

Trailer 1

Trailer 2

Morgan Freeman reprises Hugh Griffith?? Next, somebody will remake Casablanca.

Re: Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

I have now seen everything. Zootopia, the new Disney movie, has Tommy Chong as a voice actor. Tommy Chong. In a Disney movie.

10 Cloverfield Lane was terrific..until the last 10 minutes. John Goodman was outstanding and terrifying. Then, in true JJ Abrams fashion, things got way too effed up at the end. Several of us were laughing out loud at the ridiculousness of the final scenes.

First 95%: Solid B+ movie. Last 5%: D-. That bad.

Along the M. Night directorial line of thought? (If that can't be answered w/o spoilers I understand)

The Good Son (not the Culkin movie)

Documentary on Ray Boom Boom Mancini overall, but with a purpose of him meeting the son of the guy that died due to a boxing fight with Mancini. Really good documentary.

Also watched Primal Fear, it was pretty solid, although once the little twist was revealed, you knew what needed to be done at the trial, and 5 minutes later you knew how it was going to end. That being said, the execution of it was done very well.

Not quite that bad. They allude to many possible endings (reasons they are in the shelter) along the way, and the one that was chosen just seemed...silly. And a few things that happened during the final scene were just so unbelievable, considering the first 95% was completely within the realm of possibility. Entertaining though, and worth a rent, if you liked the trailer. Again, John Goodman was outstanding.

There's going to be a Lego Batman movie in 2017, as a spin-off from 2014's The Lego Movie.

"I only work in black, and sometimes, very, very dark gray."

"Guess what, you big dumb baby? Your car's a baby carriage."

"If this relationship is going to work out between us, then I need to party with a bunch of random strangers whenever I feel like it. I will text you."

Re: Batman Vs Superman, And Oh Yeah, Suicide Squad: Movies Thread

Leonard Maltin reviewing Batman Vs Superman, "When was it decided superhero movies shouldn't be any fun?"

It's getting 30% on Rotten Tomatoes. Something didn't sit right with me about this film before the reviews were released, now I really don't want to see it.
