Basketball 2017

Re: Basketball 2017

The Lakers have roughly a 2 year window with Lebron. He's going to be 35 in December, and this will be his 17th NBA season. He's already over 46,000 minutes played, plus the playoffs, plus Olympic ball. There's a LOT of miles on that engine. Only 6 guys in NBA history have topped 50,000 minutes. Outside of Jason Kidd, all of them are big men. I got the feeling that Lebron is not going to age gracefully.

Having said that, the West is wide open this year. Durant may or may not ever be the same again, Klay tore his ACL, and the rest of the Warriors have a lot of guys on the wrong side of 30 now. They've played an awful lot of ball the past 6 years, too. Houston is still there, but then......? The West might very well be there for the taking next year.

Re: Basketball 2017

Depending on Davis and when the trade is made official, they will have between 23 and 32 million in cap space and are rumored to be targeting Kemba Walker?

If they get Kemba its a lock assuming they stay healthy.

Re: Basketball 2017

Kevin Durant to the.....Nets? Looks like $164/4

And GSW turns around and gets D'Angelo Russell on a sign-and-trade. Good Lord.

This night might be the maddest night in the history of the NBA.

Re: Basketball 2017

Khris Middleton got the 3rd largest extension in the history of the NBA or something like that getting a 5 year $178 million deal...

And the Knicks got..........................nobody :D

I know they're getting crap for not giving Durant the max and losing him, but with the severity of his injury and him missing an entire season, I don't know if they're that much in the wrong. It could end up being nothing and he's just as good come 2020, but this isn't exactly a minor injury. That said, waiting for the perfectly healthy player to come along at the perfectly right price is a fool's errand and they would need to do something at some point...

Hearing scuttlebutt on Reddit that other GMs are privately saying that passing on KD was the right call.

Flat Earth Kyrie's not exactly a whiff of sunshine and roses in the locker room either.

Still, that fanbase is all but stocking up torches and pitchforks. They have to do SOMETHING.
