B1G Championship in Detroit

Re: B1G Championship in Detroit

Let's play the hypothetical game. What if the B1G did add affiliate members and did have North Dakota and Miami.

Would Sioux fans show up?

Second time you've brought that idea up. Stop sniffing glue, it's bad for your brain.

Re: B1G Championship in Detroit

We show up in Oxford and Denver in the regular season. You tell me.

Better? Turn on CBSSN in a couple hours.

Wasn't there a regional a few years ago against Yale where you didn't?

Not criticizing that - your fan base travels very well. Just wondering if Sioux fan would go to Detroit.

That was in Grand Rapids which is technically closer to Grand Forks.

Re: B1G Championship in Detroit

B1G opened Pandora's Box when they added Johns Hopkins as a lacrosse-only school.

That was to create a lacrosse conference. And for the sweet Johnny Hopkins research money.

We already have the hockey conference. The only affiliate member I can see for the Big Ten is ASU due to the partnership we have with the Pac12, and even then I wouldn't be a fan.

ASU will be a ***** to recruit against.

Re: B1G Championship in Detroit

I think you missed that "Oxford" (Miami of Ohio) word. There were UND fans there a couple weeks ago. Like in Denver or MSP? No. But better than that OSU/PSU "Fiasco at the Joe" yesterday.

Re: B1G Championship in Detroit

How many fans? Thousands? Dozens? Proof?

There were Wild fans at an Iowa Wild game at the Bradley Center this season too. I was one. I live in Milwaukee. Travelled 10 minutes. Your point is still lost.

How does anyone prove how many visiting fans were at a game?

Instead of whining, some of us actually do show up. Obviously some of you think you are a better person since you support hockey better. Not sure why you think that, but you do. Good for you and your psyche.

Regardless, it's not about the rink money, it's about the tv money. Btn gets more money than fox did, so the ticket sales don't matter. If they did, the big ten would bother to just send a press release to the news in the area. They didn't. Nor a hotel or ticket packages and the ticket prices are higher than home games for Michigan and State. Easy way to avoid fans there, charge them more to see teams they don't care for. Brilliant.

As I posted before, promoting this is easy, as is filling the rink. The big ten needs to just try.

How did you glean that from my 4 words? You are wrong. I think its great that you went. But the "we know the stadium won't be empty" couldnt have been more wrong. I thought that was hilarious. You can get angry about it or have fun with it. Your choice.

Unless it's thousands of fans that would show up in Detroit (which I doubt), then does it really matter in regards to the original topic discussed?

Question asked was would enough UND fans travel to Detroit to make a difference? I have my doubts that thousands of fans would. Hundreds of fans wouldn't make a difference, the turnout would still blow.

No one is doubting UND fans would travel, and UND fans in the area would attend. I just don't know that it would be enough to matter.

And watching your conference game in Mpls and games in Denver (where UND has strong alumni bases) doesn't prove anything in regards to their possible turnout in Detroit.

That's my point.
