Aurora University wants to add D3 hockey

Re: Aurora University wants to add D3 hockey

The assistant baseball coach is going to slide over and coach hockey, too. Wow. This reeks of "small town high school". If they do that, it's going to show on the scoreboard. I don't think Aurora knows what they're getting into if they pull a move like this. Half the NCHA is going to have no class at some point in the year.

Maybe he is two sport ---

Ryan Buchanan – Head Coach (NAPERVILLE NORTH HUSKIES HOCKEY CLUB - Naperville. Ill)
Ryan joined the NNHHC bench for the 2005/2006 season. A two-time Chicago Showcase player, Ryan has coached hockey since 1997 at both club and high school levels. Ryan, who is also a level 3 hockey official, has served as an instructor for power skating in addition to his other hockey coaching duties. Ryan led our 2005/2006 JV team to Tournament Champions in the Montini Invitational Tournament, to Finalists in a Big Bear Tournament in Ann Arbor, and advanced the JV team to the All Metro Playoff Round in the Metropolitan High School League for the first time in 6 years for the club

He hung out here.

They play their first game THIS Saturday 9-14-13.

Re: Aurora University wants to add D3 hockey

Nice , Woodward was drafted in 1989, that's 24 years ago, and the other 3 players you mentioned graduated HS 13+ years ago. That gives us 7 non-AAA players identified over the past 24 years, and I'm sure that number is 3x that, which is still only 21 over the 24 years since Woodward.

However, I'm talking about NOW, Aurora is recruiting NOW, and the examples I gave you are RECENT players/guys playing NOW. Again, I said circa 95% didn't play HS hockey. That leaves 5% that did. The fact is that if Aurora relies heavily on Illinois HS players to fill their roster they're toast in the NCHA. That is not trolling that is what it is.

Offer your pal DJ LaVarre this inquiry," If your Loyola Ramblers played 25 games against the AAA Midget Majors in Illinois would they win more than 3 games ? That should clarify the CURRENTdisparity beween IL HS hockey and IL. AAA hockey, because DJ's team is generally the #2 team in Illinois HS . Most of the guys playing Illinois HS hockey have no goal of playing D1 or D3 hockey, they're happy to play club hockey if anything at all. The Illinois Tier2/AA players play at that AA midget level in hopes of either catching on in the NAHL, or just play that AA level because their HS doesn't have a team.

You said 4 players in a 35 year span, so I proved you wrong.

L.A. would be lucky to win 3 of 25 games vs the local AAA Tier 1 programs because as we agree, IL H.S. hockey is more on par with AA Tier 2. However, L.A.'s top Varsity team does play in the MWPHL as well http://themphl.pointstreaksites.com/view/themphl#.Ui8jm7zHQhQ which produces top level talent every single season (Matt Dumba of Edge School, Mark Jankowski of Stanstead College, etc.) so maybe they aren't complete ***-wipes? But of course, you know all of this already. The point of my original post in this thread is that Aurora will be in serious trouble one year from now if they continue to rely so heavily on IL H.S. kids. And, I would honestly be worried about the physical safety of some of these players. Get it?

Calm down and quit being such a tool. SE Wisconsin can't be that boring...

You know you've lost the discussion when you resort to calling the other person names and using profanity. First a troll:D, then a tool:confused:, then ***-wipes:eek: ?

So what if Loyola plays in the MWPHL ? It says nothing about their skill level, only their opponents'. Almost every year Loyola is deeply planted in the cellar.

At least we agree on your point that Aurora is in serious trouble if they are relying heavily on IL. H.S. players. Whew !! that wasn't so hard.;)

P.S.-All is well in SE Wisconsin, but how are things really in Utah?

Re: Aurora University wants to add D3 hockey

Utah is extremely boring. Nothing fun to do out here at all, especially outdoors.

P.s. I feel like I completely dominated you in this debate. Lets just call it a draw.:)

Feel like you want if it soothes your ego.

However, I deal in reality.:)

Citing a few players from two decades ago to make your point about recruiting in the year 2013 and beyond when we are talking about NOW is laughable. The game of hockey is in constant flux in matters of structure and player development, and that is the case even in Illinois. Pointing out the handful of players from 'days gone by' actually proved my point that IL. HS hockey doesn't develop the quantity of quality players needed to stock an NCAA program.

Re: Aurora University wants to add D3 hockey

That's exactly what I said in my first post, that Il. H.S. Hockey doesn't produce NCAA ready players. Go back and re read.

Hey, how come we can't send private messages through USCHO anymore? I wanted to apologize for calling you a tool. I have inferred from a couple other threads that we both may be alums of the SNC program. :)

Re: Aurora University wants to add D3 hockey

There is no need to apologize.

As avid fans with an opinion things get said. We agreed on the quality of IL HS hockey, but differ on the quantity of players having emerged from that level.

The only thing I have for SNC is great respect, and a level of satisfaction knowing they're aligned in a conference with teams I have ties to.
