Atlantic Hockey Adds to Scholarship Limit, Mulls Expansion

Who is covering the extra hotels, meals and bus expense to Buffalo or Pittsburgh from Houghton or Marquette?QUOTE]

What about next season when NMU plays NC games in Grand Forks.
Extra hotels and meals are in this NC tilt.

Just like when NMU went to Denver 3 yrs ago, or when any school makes a one time trip with no return, the host school (in this case, North Dakota) gives the visitor a financial guarantee. Sorry Pony, zero expense for NMU here.

Small point: Cornell is an Ivy (except for the Agricultural College which is a SUNY, right?). But your point is a good one and still stands.
I know, but I was also counting them among the New York contingent.

Yeah, and that might figure into the decision. If RPI left, maybe RIT would be favored. If QU left, perhaps HC would be favored.

That info will be released when the school announces the schedules.
I can tell you that Wisconsin will have "away" games against NMU every now and again, but those will always be in Green Bay when they happen. I sincerely doubt that Minnesota is going to Marquette any time soon, if ever again. I have similar doubts about Michigan and Ohio State. I guess I could see Michigan State or Penn State going there, but it be more surprising to me than if they didn't go up there.

Seriously? I wonder if the 11 team schedule opens up more traveling.

There is no American International trip to NMU in the works. The Pony is just a troll who thrives on the absurd.

Re: Atlantic Hockey Adds to Scholarship Limit, Mulls Expansion

AIC has played Minnesota Mankato(during an Air Force Colorado year) and went up to Michigan Tech. This year it is Michigan State. Usually they do this in years when they do not go to Air Force. This year with the Hockey East change in their conference schedule, it seems that Hockey East teams are more willing to schedule AIC, as other than going to Michigan State, the rest of the non conference games are against H.E. teams (1-Providence, Lowell, Amherst and 2-Maine)
I'm rooting for a trip to St. Lawrence next year.

On a tangential note, St. A's has announced they are exploring a drop to D-III for all sports. This was discussed on this board (and roundly scoffed, I might add) about a year ago.

St. A's passed on joining AHA due to cost concerns. That concern dovetails with previous comments and this announcement. St. A's is not interested pouring huge coin into athletics in order to "keep pace" with others. They are not alone.

Keep this in mind when pounding the table for more scholarships. It can (and likely will) result in shrinking the sport.
