Having an extra hard time motivating myself today after conversations with HR and plant manager yesterday. I've had an open position in my department since July. We've made offers to 3 canidates over the months, but either they end up turning it down or counter offer to a price we're not willing to pay. It's hard being in an autmotive heavy area and not competing with automotive compensation.
I was really excited about getting an intern this Summer, because that position would be easy to fill, but, all our internships were put on hold as corporate has a great intern program...which we won't be part of because our division was sold and the deal should close this quarter. Ok, fine, no intern. Now I find out we're basically in a hiring freeze and our open quality engineer position won't be filled. I get that volumes are down, but there's no way I can support a new product launch without an engineer.
I had interviewed an internal candidate yesterday who seems promising and had finally heard from talent acquisition with some promising resumes after 2 months of silence from them. The end seemed in sight, but now I'm depressed and thinking it's time to hit eject on this job. Stinks because I like this job more than most that I've had, but after telling myself it'd get better after October when we were through ISO audit season and the last new product launch, it didn't get better.
Anyway applied to a job yesterday and may do some more job searching this weekend.
