I did a site interview for a new job yesterday and now it's in the hands of the hiring gods. Put some good vibes out there, please.

Good luck to both of you guys!

I have a team meeting in three minutes to discuss 2024 objective setting and the new performance metric, which used to be a 15-number scale and now it's only three. Good times. Can't wait.

Union violation! That's the point guard's PARENT'S job.

The ironic thing is that Dartmouth men's basketball hasn't been relevant in 75 years. They play in a gym smaller than most high school auditoriums, are about 10th on the pecking order in the athletic dept. behind football, both hockey teams, skiing, women's hoops, both lax teams, and a couple others; and bring in minimal revenue outside of their slice of the NCAA tourney shares that get distributed thru the Ivy League.

I have no problem with the ruling, but it's funny who got it. It's like having some random local 2-store fast food franchise get a ruling that affects McDonald's.

The year is 2024 and people still don't understand "Reply All" means you're replying to every one of the thousands of people on this email list.

Fire every single one of the people who replied to it.

Why is "Reply All" still an option for something like that in 2024?

I think that is the more important question that needs to be asked. Everyone knows that there needs to be some "idiot resistance" built into the system. Put a simple prompt that says "Do you really need to send this message to 1,000+ people? Y/N" before any e-mail that is sent to more than 50 people.

About 10 years ago, somebody accidentally sent a broadcast email to the entire company when he meant to send it to a similarly named email list. Reply All took down our entire email system that day. 260,000 people in the company at that time.

Since then, each person and group mailbox has a hard limit on how many people hey can include on a single email.

It was not in the RTX mail system, which fed 200,000 people. There were tiered privileges up to the CEO who could theoretically address an email to all 200k, but the presence of large groups in emails automatically disabled Reply All and/or shunted the originating message through a system server which did not allow any replies.

I mean, I reply all to a couple dozen people every day in a group I support. So it has an important place in email.

Microsoft used to have that prompt. I can't find it in the latest version of outlook.

I think the most infuriating part was the person/group that sent out the original email with the list on To: did the same motherfucking thing an hour after the last reply all came through.

I just about Teams messaged their director and to tell them that they need to fix this but I despise that group so I decided to let them burn.

The version I have of Outlook, or at least my company implementation, has a warning whenever the number of recipients is over 50. But it also lets you fire and forget.

Having an extra hard time motivating myself today after conversations with HR and plant manager yesterday. I've had an open position in my department since July. We've made offers to 3 canidates over the months, but either they end up turning it down or counter offer to a price we're not willing to pay. It's hard being in an autmotive heavy area and not competing with automotive compensation.

I was really excited about getting an intern this Summer, because that position would be easy to fill, but, all our internships were put on hold as corporate has a great intern program...which we won't be part of because our division was sold and the deal should close this quarter. Ok, fine, no intern. Now I find out we're basically in a hiring freeze and our open quality engineer position won't be filled. I get that volumes are down, but there's no way I can support a new product launch without an engineer.

I had interviewed an internal candidate yesterday who seems promising and had finally heard from talent acquisition with some promising resumes after 2 months of silence from them. The end seemed in sight, but now I'm depressed and thinking it's time to hit eject on this job. Stinks because I like this job more than most that I've had, but after telling myself it'd get better after October when we were through ISO audit season and the last new product launch, it didn't get better.

Anyway applied to a job yesterday and may do some more job searching this weekend.

I have accepted a new job and am in crossover. So I have moved from job hunt tensions to new job imposture tensions. The tension headaches are similar. No doubt once I start they will become firehose tension headaches.

What is the problem of finding a job that will bring pleasure and money? When I studied at the university, I realized that this was not the profession I wanted to pursue. It's good that I found someone to do my dissertation on https://ukwritings.com/write-my-dissertation and used it often. Now I'm thinking of going to university again, but already for some good profession that I will like.

The answer to that is the $(@#ing computers got involved and made things pure hell on a cracker for job seekers.

Good. I'm guessing they're dam lucky to have you.

Good luck Kep!

I have a second interview in two weeks. It would be next week, but current job is doing a major system upgrade this weekend and I genuinely can't get a half day off this week. I had a talk with HR and found that the pay scale is well below what I'd hoped, but certainly livable. And my goal is to regain my life, not claw extra money. So I think as long as it isn't on the low end of the scale, I may accept the pay cut.

My salary right now is really good, so I'm incredibly fortunate that I can take a substantial cut and still survive. But we'll see how the next interview goes. It'll be a panel, so the other directors I'd work with as well as some managers. We'll see.

Now I need to come up with examples of things. What processes have I changed? What "tough" conversations have I had? Fun stuff.
