Dang, that might work. You couldn't hire enough scabs to fill all of those gaps.
Lol, they can’t even hire people now. They only pay $15-20 (depending on what part of the country) as starting pay. Yeah, there’s great benefits but new hires don’t get those until 12 months. Why bust your *** at 4am for $18 an hour and only a guarantee of 3.5 hours, so you can get a full time driver slot? Oh wait, they don’t put newbies in those because they just slot them into a “flex” shift where you deliver but at a lower pay rate (thanks Hoffa).

Things got so bad they were offering us bonuses for referrals last year, that’s when we knew they were going to be ****ed during a strike.

The Teamsters President has specifically said that Amazon is next if they’re successful with the UPS contract.

Also, Amazon doesn’t have pilots. They outsource that work to Atlas Air AFAIK.

Interesting. I thought I had seen Amazon liveries. Maybe it was just that though, a livery on an atlas.

“I will be crafting an email…”

Crafting? How often two you sniff your own a** to start talking that way without even a hint of irony?

IIRC, Amazon originally began by wet-leasing planes from other cargo operators. In the last 4-5 years, they've started to outright purchase their own fleet, but crewing, maintenance, etc. continue to be contracted out.

Last night, I received a call from an HR representative at my job, and it was a refreshing conversation:

She apologized for the fact the previous rep in charge of Workman's Comp failed to educate me about the process last September. I've been stuck with facial injuries and medical bills as a result, so she is going to ask if any of these issues can retroactively be solved.

With the ongoing arthritis in my right foot and upcoming corrective surgery this September, she praised me for being proactive and attempting to get in front of the situation, then let me know what had to be done so i can be put on light duty.

Well, negotiations were moving along, UPS offered some concessions, but now they’ve broken down again.

I feel like the company is just dragging this out. The Union’s been pretty clear that significant pay raises are needed for the part timers but it looks like the company won’t budge.

On the personal front, we start practice pickets at my center tomorrow.
What is accomplished at a practice picket? Is this where people learn how to not drag slogan/demands signs on the ground?

Okay, the first question is serious.

I did not know this:

The United Auto Workers' (UAW) national contracts with Detroit automakers Stellantis NV (STLAM.MI), General Motors Co (GM.N) and Ford Motor Co (F.N) are set to expire on Sept. 14.

Union leaders are ratcheting up pressure on the automakers for substantial changes to the current master contracts. The union wants an end to the current two-tier wage system under which new hires at the Detroit Three earn 25% less than UAW workers with five or more years on the job.

It may well be Strike Season in this country.
