And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

Nothing is ever perfect but considering the time, effort, and money that goes into these things, is expecting them to try for perfection too much to ask?

Name a movie that is perfect...in fact don't come back until you do :)

I caught a spelling error in the first 15 minutes. #bestintheworld

And I liked it. Loved the twist at the end.

But I will leave this thread, so you can enjoy a good Nolan circle jerk, because there really isn't that much to say about this movie.

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

BTW I saw it in Imax last night...it was definitely made for Imax

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

I do agree with Foxton on being disappointed with Bane not being all that badass and brilliant afterall, though.

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

Saw it this afternoon; liked how Nolan attempted to pull the story around to make the trilogy a self-sustaining whole. Some parts were very effective, some were overwrought, but for a comic book movie it was entertaining and had a story that hung together plus some interesting effects. I think people are being too hard on Bane, he started out as a very interesting character and... well, they did what they did; spoiler: apparently Nolan believes we are not familiar with The World is Not Enough. He also believes Occupy Wall Street is the Reign of Terror. Somebody wanted to keep getting invited to parties by his rich friends...

I think the series followed the Rule of Trilogies: A, C, B. I went in with very low expectations and it exceeded them substantially, so I'm quite happy.

Estimates are in: $163M for the weekend (highest ever debut for a 2D film) and a $77.2M Friday which is third-best day ever and highest ever for a 2D film. The numbers could have been much higher, but the shooting in Colorado hampered attendance. However, the film is expected to have longer legs because of that as the shock wears off.

I thought Anne Hathaway played a heck of a Selina Kyle...

That is lower than it was tracking at (early estimates were $190) but that is still pretty ****ed good :)

Concur. I thought she did an even better job that I had hoped, and I had pretty high expectations. Doesn't hurt that she wears the catsuit very nicely either. Someone asked at IMDB and votes were 10:1 in her favor. I don't know the comics, but it seemed to me Hathaway played Selina Kyle from Batman: The Animated Series from the 90's. Much like her, there was a lot more to this Catwoman than just a jewel thief and she and Bruce Wayne are meant to be together, but never quite make it because something keeps them apart. In the dreamworld set up by The Mad Hatter, Bruce dreams that he is married to Selina and neither of their secret identities exist. I was very satisfied with the ending of those two finally ending up together.

Estimates now are at $161.1M...won't have official numbers until tomorrow. Over at the Hollywood Stock Exchange BATM3 is at least a million dollar short. The insiders missed on this badly.

I'm curious if they keep state-by-state figures. CO would likely be down from estimates due to the shooting. I'm certain it's impacted numerous people's decisions to see the movie.

The one thing that really bugged me (not to go all Foxton on the bit):

Ok, the bomb is over the bay. But it's a NUCLEAR F*ING WEAPON!!!!!! Yeah, initial blast? Safe. Nuclear fallout? Have fun with your mutant kids, Gotham!

Other than that, my beliefs were suspended for the movie. I loved it.

That has been discussed on IMDB and elsewhere...the bomb was low yield, detonated at low altitude and over water and the prevailing winds (assuming Gotham=NYC) means most fallout would fall away from the city. However, they forgot the giant tsunami that would have swamped most of the city :p
