Best part of the movie was Bruce telling Gordon who he was. I would have been much more satisfied had Bruce actually killed himself to save Gotham. Would have turned the trilogy into a true epic tale, instead the last handful of minutes were just a big wink and nod to the camera. Still a really fun movie, but Dark Knight was better based on the morality tale it spun, IMO.

Agreed completely. If the central idea is sacrifice, then the final fake out undercuts it.

Though I loved the romance of the scene in Florence. I'd have preferred to have Alfred just look, with no shot of them. Leave it ambiguous. Then the viewer can take whichever fork they prefer.

People at IMDB are confused and think they are still watching Inception and the Alfred scene in Florence is just a dream.

Hell, the whole movie could be a dream if it floats your boat.

Edit: Or better yet, just one of the Joker's paranoid, schizophrenic delusions.

As his parents are shot, Bruce falls and hits the pavement, and hallucinates his entire life.

Throw in the FBI and heroin and you have a Philip K. Dick novel.

I think the movie was very well done... Very deep story to it and worth a 2nd look to be able to take everything in... I do have a remaining question however:

Bruce left Blake the location of the Bat Cave, knowing that he would track it down... One has to assume that Robin will be taking over as Gothem's "Watchdog" especially given numerous the references to "wearing a mask to protect loved ones"... Does this mean that he's now a viable character option for future movies like Justice League or was this truly the end of the series?

I'd say that this was my favorite movie of the series... Bane did lack alot of the character aspects that you had with the Joker, but at the same time, he was the most intelligent of the villians... That more than makes up for it... I have no qualms with him taking the role he did...

From what little I read, Bale is done with Batman unless Nolan is the guy. However, Nolan said HE's done with Batman.

I think that your spoiler point was just kind of a lead in for the audience to realize what's in the future for Gotham. If that story HAPPENS to be told in future movies, it wouldn't have come out of nowhere. As of right now, it's up to the audience to imagine what future storyline there is.

I thought the third one was a little more over the top than the first two. Didn't like Bane as much as the other villains - half the time I couldn't make out his dialogue over all the Vader-esque growling into the respirator. Preferred the more psychological adversaries of the first two films; the time bomb is a huge cliche. Of course, you knew he'd survive the nuclear blast - it's a superhero film.

I liked Bane more than Scarecrow. I actually thought Scarecrow could have used a bit more screen time (it might have made me change my opinion about the rankings). Obviously, I think we are all in agreement that no one will ever top the Joker.

In the first one, dummy. :p But I do love that play on the old joke. ;)

And:

The Clean Slate thing: Wayne DID make the sacrifice. He ejected out of the Bat early (hence autopilot being fixed). He sacrificed his name, the Batman, ALL of who he was in the name of Gotham. So that final scene doesn't bother me. He is not "him" anymore. He's Joe Schmo. Just like Salina. A fresh start.

Batman ejected early (if you believe what I read...and I do), most likely at the point there was the explosion before "The Bat" passed over the bridge. Bruce was nowhere neat the blast, hell the bus with the kids was closer.

Bane vs. Batman in their battles was better than anything else in the trilogy. They went balls to the wall!!

I really liked the French Revolution overtones, this movie really could have been called The Dark Knight Rises, or a Tale of Two Cities.

One thing I enjoyed about the movie is that it gives you things to think about and talk about afterward.

I had a question about the last scene, if anyone else noticed?

Was Selina wearing the necklace in the cafe at the very end? The shot came and went so quickly and she was a bit out of focus...

True, those were good fight sequences. Am I misremembering or weren't there good Wayne vs Ra's al Ghul fights in the first one?

Since the movie just opened and I know some people didnt see it yet I would rather keep spoilers around for a bit just in case. I figure by the end of the week though I would feel better about openly talking about major plot points.
