And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

that is just comic fanboy dreaming pushing it to be as such.
Remember the fanboy code is that whenever two women are in the same room there has to be a touch of lesbianism.

This is what you get when your consumer base is composed of guys who won't get laid until they're 35, if ever...

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

On one of the comics sites I read, one of the fanboys suggested:

A scee on the bridge where the Joker is seen walking/dancing across giggling in hopes of getting Gotham nuked...that would be hilarious!

Fact is though, if Heath was alive this movie isnt made. They would have made a sequel based on the Joker most likely.

I just met a guy who is either an MTU or an NMU alumnus. I can't keep them straight and I'm always calling him the wrong one; it really drives him crazy.

I need an ECAC equivalent. If MTU is RPI what is NMU? Union?

Went and saw it last night. Went with a friend. I loved it. He was visually angry after the film. I asked him what was wrong. He was upset that the two main protagonists were "denied" in the end. I find that deliciously ironic cause I never cared for either of them.

Selina Kyle stole the show.

It's been a week. I think we can lift the "ban" on spoilers.

K. His point was that Bane was nothing but a minion in the end. And Batman didn't even get to finish him. Since I cared about neither of them I didn't care so it greatly increased my enjoyment of the film.

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

i got ya. i was kind of wondering if you meant the chick as the 2nd protagonist, for the half the movie anyway... but then i didnt know if you meant JGL, gordon, AH, alfred??

so i had to ask

that motorcycle was pretty badass, it was blasting the sh*t out of everything when all the other guns in the movie were worthless (including the ones on the bat and the tanks)

That's my major beef with this movie. Because in the end he was just Bane from Batman and Robin, if a bit more articulate.

And Batman didn't even get to finish him.
Batman doesn't finish anyone, or stop being batman.

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

I thought Bane was more than a minion. A plan is just that: a plan. Bane still had to make it work. He had to be smart enough (and tough enough) to see it through, to adapt if anything came up that could derail the plan, etc etc. He wasn't some simple henchman.

He wasn't a simple henchman, he was just the head henchman, but a henchman nonetheless. When Talia finally showed up, Bane turned to a doting school boy looking at her. It completely killed his presence. Honestly, the Talia reveal was handled with the grace and aplomb of a brick hitting the sidewalk. It would have been much better had the audience known who she was earlier. Could have shown more of the plan, more between Talia and Bane showing a more even relationship instead of the "I would do anything for love, but I won't do that" vibe he was giving off to her. Plus knowing Bruce/Batman was duped into doing what he did would have given more 'oomph' to when Talia finally turned on Batman. You'd be more invested in the Talia/Bruce relationship that way, knowing what was real vs what was going on on Bruce's side.

I think Nolan wanted a similar reveal to the Ra's thing in Begins, but you knew Ducard shared different morals than Bruce, so they were on different sides from the start. Bruce trying to convince Ducard his way was right was still an uphill battle, the only thing that reveal did was show you how impossibly uphill it was. This reveal was a reveal for a reveal's sake. And I don't think it added anything to the movie, besides taking away the amazing presence and drive that Bane had.

That said, it was still a fun movie to watch, it's a pretty good end to the trilogy. He didn't mess it up like with X3 or SM3, so that's a huge plus.

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

Very good movie...unlike the last movie which was outstanding. The previous movie was impossible to beat with a subtle tour through the complex argument of vigilantism vs. law...and an incredible collection of acting highlighted by an unbeatable portayal of the joker.

This movie struck me again as very good...but I found it odd that they kept batman down for so long. It seems like the whole movie he could barely walk and was a social nothin. I get the 'how can he possibly overcome these odds' syndrome...but it seemed he was worthless for 80% of the movie. Minor pick in an otherwise very good movie.

That is such a load of crap I am not even sure you believe it. Bane destroyed Gotham, Bane broke the Bat, Bane put everything in motion Talia was just a female version of Ras from Begins. (hiding from the shadows, though hers was a different method) That he turned out to be #2 instead of #1 didnt really change anything you just knew his motivations were a bit different. Last I checked it didnt change his beating the tar out of Bruce in the sewer.

That you could with a straight face even mention him in a sentence with the dreck from Batman and Robin proves you are not even worth paying attention to anymore. (which to be fair most people knew but I held out hope :D )

Rimmy,

I see where you are coming from, I just happen to disagree I guess.

Scooby,

I thought JGL stole the show, my lord he was awesome in the movie all the way through.

Ra's played the number 2 position in an evil plot from the actual number one spot. Talia didn't play a position in the evil plot to the audience at all because it wasn't revealed until the very end the truth about her. That's why tipping her hand to the audience would have been a better decision (IMO, but I'm not making movies that make a billion dollars, so I'm in a very small place to judge!). Yeah, what Bane did was freaking awesome, but the motives he spouted weren't his actual motives as portrayed by the end. He, from what is revealed, did all this stuff for Talia because he loved her....ultra gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. I'm still going to watch it in IMAX again though. :)

And yes, JGL was great. The bus scene with the kids was sweet, and some of his conversations with Bruce were so heart wrenchingly uplifting.
