And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

That is such a load of crap I am not even sure you believe it. Bane destroyed Gotham, Bane broke the Bat, Bane put everything in motion Talia was just a female version of Ras from Begins. (hiding from the shadows, though hers was a different method) That he turned out to be #2 instead of #1 didnt really change anything you just knew his motivations were a bit different. Last I checked it didnt change his beating the tar out of Bruce in the sewer.

That you could with a straight face even mention him in a sentence with the dreck from Batman and Robin proves you are not even worth paying attention to anymore. (which to be fair most people knew but I held out hope :D )
Bane ending up number two destroyed much of his build up throughout the film. He was just a pawn, a chess piece, instead of the head banana. A lot of folks had an issue with that. I didn't because I didn't care about Bane at all to begin with.

JGL was good, and I liked the ending around him. But Hathaway was by far the best, and she eliminated Bane while Batman sat around again like he did most of the film.

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

Ra's played the number 2 position in an evil plot from the actual number one spot. Talia didn't play a position in the evil plot to the audience at all because it wasn't revealed until the very end the truth about her. That's why tipping her hand to the audience would have been a better decision (IMO, but I'm not making movies that make a billion dollars, so I'm in a very small place to judge!). Yeah, what Bane did was freaking awesome, but the motives he spouted weren't his actual motives as portrayed by the end. He, from what is revealed, did all this stuff for Talia because he loved her....ultra gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. I'm still going to watch it in IMAX again though. :)

And yes, JGL was great. The bus scene with the kids was sweet, and some of his conversations with Bruce were so heart wrenchingly uplifting.

Like I said, I understand why people say that, I just happen not to agree. Maybe because I assumed that reveal was happening anyways (due to the rumors the second she was cast and the fact that Bane was part of the League of Shadows) or maybe because stuff like that doesnt bug me but it didnt hurt Bane in my eyes. I also equated his love of her as more of a father than what others assume since he was her protector and much older than her which helps too. Plus, I just watched him punch holes in a pillar of a building he can feel whatever he wants :D

BTW, when you see it a second time you can see they kind of did tip their hand on her (and a lot of other plot points) throughout the movie, it is just really subtle. After Bruce and Tate do the Hibbidity Dibbity they show a scar on her back that looks a lot like burn. It resembles the hot poker that Ras was going to brand Bruce with in Begins. Also, every time Bruce makes the assumption that Bane is the man who escapes from the prison the story stops and the subject is changed and when the story of the doctor is told (the blind dude who tells Bruce how to escape) they talk about how he was the one who put the mask on Bane to help the pain but when they show the kid escaping the kid has no face issues and there is a big brutal guy fighting off the fellow inmates to help the escape. It is kind of fun to watch a second time because you slap your head going "DOH!". :)

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

What Handy said about the tips.

I noticed the scar the first time I saw it, but brushed it off as a red herring of sorts. Yes, mistake on my part, having seen many Nolan movies. And the old man telling the story always said "the child" (non-gender), and never corrected Wayne when Wayne assumed it was Bane. Of course, in hindsight it's always "D'OH!", but hey, that's the fun of seeing a movie like this.

And I don't think Bane's love of Talia is romantic. It's more guardian/father-like.

And I still stand by my stance of Bane as a sort of 1A, and not truly a 2.

And on the second viewing, I did notice this. Dammit.

Hardy was doing a Romani-latin accent, which is pretty gypsy. Makes him hard to understand at first, but it works.

Yep. Think: Pitt in "Snatch." Hard to get at first then it's second nature.

And soh: Taken 2? Rade Serbedzija?! YES! YES! YES!

Sweet Jesus I can barely wait.

Going back to the voice thing, how hard can it be to do a badass voice knowing that it will be altered in editing? I would guess that it would be pretty difficult.

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

Tough, yes. Glad I saw it a second time. I mean, the actions illustrated what Bane was saying but due to the OMG LOUD policy of theaters it distorted enough to not make the speech clear.

Either way, worth seeing multiple times.

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

Agreed about the sound thing. Every time the Batwing (I'm calling it that regardless of what the movie says) appeared, I dang near had to cover my ears. Effin A.

There has NEVER been a 1A villian in comic books. EVER. Bane is a minion. That's how the system works. That's how it's always worked. And that's why people are upset.

Then break the system. :p

Honestly, why can't there be a 1A? Because that's the way it is? That is a dumb reason if you ask me. Break the rules. Cause a little chaos ;). Let's have a 1 and a 1A. Just to eff with the traditionalists. :D

That is actually not true at all. If any comic fan says that they are either ignoring some comics or just looking for reasons to be mad. Villains have teamups just like heroes do. (though not as often since comics are about heroes) Hell an extreme example is the Rogues for the Flash who almost ALWAYS work together as equal partners. Lex Luthor and Brainiac have worked together (and neither was a henchmen) and Batman villains have as well to varying degrees. From what I have been told it happens all the time in Marvel comics as well.

Whoever fed you that bs never actually read any comics or read them wrong :D

So, this was a super villain team up movie? Bane was supposed to be "all that" and he wasn't. He looked awesome for 90% of the film and then they chopped his balls off with a cleaver. The only reason I didn't notice is I didn't like him at all to begin with.

Selina Kyle saved Batman and the movie.

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

This whole "Ban was just a minion" thing seems awfully over-dramatic. I expect that sort of nonsense out of foxton, but from some of the rest of you, it's kind of disappointing.

I noticed this right away. Which makes me think Batman was really Michael Weston, because he's the only one that can kick James Bond's ***.

Anne Hathaway is probably my new favorite actress. She killed that role, and looked outstanding in the catsuit.

Says you...as usual the vast majority of the people out there do not agree with you. You are in league with Foxton though so you got that going for you...which is nice. ;)

I never said it was a teamup btw I said whoever told you that in comics there is never a 1 and 1a villain is either an idiot or lying to themselves so they have something more to whine about seeing as it happens in the comics all the time :)

Its the internet...99% of what you see is hyperbolic one way or the other. The vocal minority is here, the rest of the world goes outside and enjoys their day ;)

The Joker never played Second Banana to anyone. Dr. Doom didn't. Galactus didn't. Loki didn't.

I guess Bane is just another Silver Surfer, and not as cool.

Re: And the new villain(s) for The Dark Knight Rises are...

Bane isnt supposed to be Dr. Doom and doesnt have the history of any of those characters you named...now you are just being obtuse. Every Batman villain has played "second fiddle" at some point even your precious Joker. (although he more often falls under the "plot device" ideal which is even more pathetic) Hell I bet if you wanted to you could even find stories where Dr. Doom was second fiddle, I just don't care enough to want to find them. Do you have any clue how often the "bait and switch" method is used in the comics where they tease one villain for 90% of a storyarch, usually a villain strong enough to hold the story themselves, then at the last second show someone was pulling their strings or putting the whole plan in motion all along? It is almost as cliche as supervillain monologues :)

But hey, I learned long ago you never let yourself enjoy anything. (and you have horrible taste in movies see: Jennifer's Body ;) ) Hell you are probably looking for reasons right now why Nick Bjugstad coming back next year is actually a detriment to the Gophers not helpful :D ;) I wont try and change your thought process any further my friend :)
