Really because Obama himself said that...nothing in the proposed bill will make you drop your coverage and take the public option...if you like your coverage and you like your doctor you can keep them until the moment the death panels shove the cyanide in your arm! :p

But hey, if you know something Obama doesn't please feel free to post it here so we can all read it. ;)

Fixed that for you.

First mistake - you're taking a politician at his word. Second, if the Kaiser Institute reported the numbers correctly, there are plenty of companies that will drop their employee insurance coverage like a good habit. There's a reason companies like Wal-Mart have endorsed this bill.

Nothing in the draft bill(s) explicitly said that private health insurance would be eliminated, but the draft bill(s) would have led to a single payer system with Uncle Sam as the payer. The private insurance companies would fall by the wayside. Obama was being disingenuous.

We'll have to see what a reconciled final bill says.

Here's what I know. I've had four different employers since 1977. I was always coverd under the group plans they provided.

So what if my current place of employment decdes that it wants to switch to the government plan? I have no choice unless I want to buy my own insurance.

Unless you're currently paying for your own health care coverage, the idea that everyone gets to keep what they have is the biggest load of bull being sold about what Obama and the Democrats are proposing.

Why don't they just to that already, and dump you onto the public dole? Why wait for reform, which could take awhile? They should have already done this to you, right?

Otherwise, its only logical to conclude that there must be other reasons why companies offer benefits, even though they right now by law could get rid of your insurance, yet most of them seem to offer it. What gives???

Also, just to be clear, there is nothing in any bill passed by any congressional committee trying to reform health care that makes a single payer system the law. The President has also said publicly that's not part of this reform effort (and frankly its unworkable for a country this large to just switch to a single payer system).

Which you're above, naturally.

One post he is nastier than a portapotty on a hot day about something silly and the next can sound somewhat articulate. [not here]. Both parties are acting like idiots. I haven't seen a soul that was not wailing about the awful other side.
And the more control the Gov't has of health care, the more it will get screwed up.
It is not screwed up now?

So explain how this is different from now. Your employer can decide to offer jackshiz insurance to you that is horrible and doesn't cover anything. You get what your employer offers now and there is no requirement that it be great unless you have specific stuff in a contract. (not sarcastic- I just don't get this argument at all)

so, if Obama lies to me does he pay me back? No? didn't think so.

The proposed bill will make it very hard for the insurers to operate for most of the general public. They will include provisions that insurer must take anybody who wants insurance regardless of medical condition... this means that those in the worst shape will operate in a race to the bottom with each insurer and it'll be rare that difficult care will be covered by any insurer as a result.

No, Obama's not going to force you... he's not the one that decided that the company should fold up shop after all....

You're asking me to trust a habitual liar at his word to understand the details of a document which he has likely not read. No chance.

Both parties are acting like idiots, but I'm going to forcefully get behind the one pushing socialized medicine.

You rule. Rover could only dream of being that incongruous.

By the way, your word diarrhea? Not impressive whatsoever. I don't give credit for stating the blatantly obvious. Insurance companies are trying to turn a profit? NO SMEGGING WAY!

Obama has also stated publicly that he is in favor of a single payer system, the public option, and the elimination of private health insurance. We've seen the video of that in the past couple of weeks. So he's been speaking out of both sides of his mouth. Now, if he would come out and say that he was wrong in his earlier views and has changed his position on those issues, fine, that might convince some people that what he is currently saying is true, but he hasn't done that.

There are rules already requiring insurance companies cover everyone but that is for big bargaining groups.

Well then I quote your fellow conservative Minnfan...find a job that gives you the insurance you want. I thought that was what was great about this country you have the choice...or does that not count for people like you just all of THE OTHERS! If you don't like what they offer move on and find a different job that is all I have been hearing the past few days from your fellow fans of the right :p

BTW my insurance just denied paying for my routine physical at an approved clinic...sweet so I have to foot a 650 dollar bill for something that is recommended I do with a doctor that is in the network...yep you guys are right the status quo is ****ing awesome! I wonder what world it is you all live in...

And I don't trust any politician but don't give me the hypotheticals none of you have any idea what will happen if the public option passes you just find the worst case scenario and run with it just like everyone else.

But yet you will trust the GOP and your fellow conservatives who have made careers out of lying...including the ones spouting about death panels who supported the same legislation just 5 years ago that they denounce now? Who are you trying to kid Patman?

edit: I would like someone to find me where in the bill it pushes for Socialized Medicine. I want to see it...don't give me platitudes about how this will lead to that which will roll down the slippery slope...give me some evidence. I dont support the bill or Socialized Medicine so it wont be hard to convince me...come on give me the goods!

That's not the point. The point is that when Obama says that everyone can keep whatever plan they have if they like it, he's promising them something that's not their control. It's an absurd statement and a totally empty promise.

Why you can buy the coverage you want or switch companies to keep it! Choice baby ask around! It is all the rage! :p

You have absolutely no idea. But keep thinking that you do.

Apparently not...keep on fighting the good fight one day your life in tyranny will end! :D

Sorry, but that's not what Obama said. The points that you and other have made about the possibility of employers dropping health insurance or switching to cheaper, less comprehensive plans merely reinforces my point that Obama is making promises he can't keep.
