Amazing Race 18: Jetting off to the Big Easy without Cutting the Cord

Re: Amazing Race 18: Jetting off to the Big Easy without Cutting the Cord

So the cheerleaders go home. I had great faith in Kents inability to get the task done but unfortunately their were other teams worse than he.

Re: Amazing Race 18: Jetting off to the Big Easy without Cutting the Cord

I thought this was a great leg. Multiple lead changes, multiple "in danger of elimination" scares for likable teams. A 2nd class ticket on an Chinese overnight sleeper train (if they only could have conveyed the overwhelming stench of urine on those)... India again next week, yawn.

Cheerleaders were OK but in this field were likely to go home in the 1st half. Ron and Christina and goths are probably next.

Also: It was one of the most entertaining moments of the entire series when the Goths U-Turned the cheerleaders right in front of their face.

This.

I think the Goths still have some time left on the clock with the Special Ed teams ahead of them. I'm surprised by how well the prom queen and her dad are doing -- they turned out to be a far stronger team than I thought.

Re: Amazing Race 18: Jetting off to the Big Easy without Cutting the Cord

Just watched last week and this week's episodes. A two-fer: the redheads bite the dust followed by Margie and the spoiled brat. Bu-bye!

Good move with the Express Pass.

Re: Amazing Race 18: Jetting off to the Big Easy without Cutting the Cord

After Margie and Luke were eliminated tonight I figure the Globetrotters will be next. They really are the weakest link left on the show. Nice guys, but they seem to move like molasses and it's really only a matter of time now. If Luke hadn't have melted down, the GT's may have been eliminated tonight. I mean you have to know they had a healthy lead on Margie and Luke at the last Detour and they still almost managed to blow it after they kicked paint on the elephant.

Although Ron and Christina worked well together tonight, you know it's only a matter of time before they are at each others throats again. That will be their downfall. I was actually impressed with Kent and Viksyn (or however you spell it) this evening. Kent only had one minor emotional break down during the tea thing, but otherwise they kept it together and worked really well. I think the two of them are way too emotional though and will ultimately screw themselves into the ground. I do like Zev and Justin, but you can tell that the grind is starting to get to Zev. I think ultimately they will bow out as well.

Right now my predicted final three are Gary and Mallory, Jet and Cord and LaKisha and Jen. All three seem to work really good together without the usual bickering and emotional turmoil. Other than the fact that the episodes seem really rushed this year, especially the last fifteen minutes I'm actually really enjoying this season. The really annoying teams by and large have been eliminated and the teams I like are the strongest. Should be a fun final few weeks. Although according to the previews it would seem that there's no episode next week.

Re: Amazing Race 18: Jetting off to the Big Easy without Cutting the Cord

Margie and Luke are out I am surprised they made it so close. I am wondering how far the Trotters are behind. I loved how everybody seemed upset at the beginning that they were still in China and the where do they get to go India which most teams dislike.

Very surprised that so many teams chose to do the Ganesh painting challenge since that seemed to be the much tougher challenge than delivering books. Especially since so many people in India speak English it should have been easy to ask directions, as all the teams who did it did.

As one of the racers said in a throwaway line, "what is that awful smell?"

That's India, folks. Wonderful country, wonderful people, but as *every* single person I know who has ever been there has said, it smells like poo.

That shocked me as well and led to Margie and Luke's downfall. Had they done the easier task they could have made it closer. The teams that did the book challenge shot way ahead.

I like Zev and Justin. Silver pajamas really do provide a good pick me up.

Re: Amazing Race 18: Jetting off to the Big Easy without Cutting the Cord

Luke had a tendency to melt down and it was that team's downfall. They could be good. But the surfboard thing, and the puzzle in Russia on their other season... come on, dude, why the drama? Just get it done. And that's why Jet and Cord are so good at this game. I loved them when they had to haul those boxes up the stairs of the Chinese office building. No drama, just grab and go.

Gary and Mallory are surprisingly strong but I don't see a lot of personality out of them, particularly the dad. Just not connecting with them. Every year there seems to be a strong team that I just can't connect with.

Kisha & Jen have a good shot. They might have won their year had they not stopped to use the bathroom. (that was ridiculous)

Re: Amazing Race 18: Jetting off to the Big Easy without Cutting the Cord

Ron and Christina are gone despite some missteps by the Goth's, I wonder if she caught anything from her dip in the Ganges? Also the cowboys manage to overcome a late flight, I really don't know how they missed that, the no other teams on their flight or checking for another flight as their was certainly ample time if Ron and Christina had time to go to a restaurant to eat before the flight. I wonder how difficult the Shaman roadblock really was as several people seemed to go through it quick while it seemed to take Ron forever.

How in the world did Ron get so off track tonight? Oh wait, he's Ron, he's a total space cadet. I love his explanation "Well I thought they might get tired of being holy men and want to go for a swim" or something to that effect. What a tool. Well I won't miss them. Kent and Vixsyn although not the weakest team left, aren't long for this thing. They just don't work very well together. I liked seeing the GT's go from worst to first. Good for them. Hard not to like those two. Other than K and V I like all the teams left so it will be hard seeing teams eliminated from here on out.

And just for any future teams that may read this. If you have a choice between a dung challenge and a non-dung challenge, choose the non-dung challenge. Just cuz.

I believe they didn't mention the word cow manure in the clue it was worded something like fire fuel so they probably didn't know till they got their that the task involved manure so going back to do the hay task probably isn't an issue at that point. While it was certainly smelly and disgusting it wasn't difficult.

I'd love to go to Benares (Varanasi) someday but here's a fun fact: the Ganges River is so polluted cholera can't live in it.

Idiot. I mean, the complete package. Why on earth would he think that holy men would blow off their work to go take a dip? Talk about distracted by something shiny. But he's had a history of being unable to focus on the task at hand.

Now Kent and Vyxsin need to join them on Reject Island. I don't mind her so much because she actually tries and has a clue, but he is just a little girl. With apologies to little girls. He can't even carry his own bag half the time. Sorry excuse for a man, let alone human being. Once they get Philiminated I'm fine with the rest of the teams. Cowboys and 'Trotters are my favorites, but any of the other teams have a realistic chance of winning. As has been said, I like the cowboys just do it attitude.

Re: Amazing Race 18: Jetting off to the Big Easy without Cutting the Cord

Kind of figured this week would be non elimination pretty easy tasks. Cowboys once again get the later flight. At least this time they knew and had a reason for taking the later flight. I do see their reasoning but you could also use the reasoning if the flight is delayed you are just stuck with every other team anyway. I really can't believe anyone couldn't finish the wiener schnitzel and sachertorte I would have scarfed that sucker down in less than 12. I always wonder some of the "unstated" rules for this type of challenge. They couldn't start eating until they closed the car door but could they have cut up everything into bite sized pieces so they could just stuff it down?

I really hope Kent and Vxyen go next he is so annoying I would have liked to see if he could do the chimney sweep challenge.

I think we'll have fondue next Sunday in honor of the race. It didn't look like Zev and Justin were enjoying it very much in the preview.

Re: Amazing Race 18: Jetting off to the Big Easy without Cutting the Cord

Cowboys go home  They really got screwed on the roadblock by teams giving out the answer. I don't know why the ski racer didn't just look at the odometer to see if they had the right answer rather than them writing it down. Basically the Trotters and Gary and Mallory got a free pass, at least flight time Gary may have had it correct without the help. I wonder if Jet hadn't told Flight time he got it wrong and had to start over whether flight time may not have tried to get the answer. Not sure if Vxyen overheard the correct answer or not. I am glad that they got to visit Liechtenstein though. Kent is such a friggin Baby your girlfriend has to pull you in the luggage cart they definitely deserve to go next the other 4 teams I can live with any of them winning it.

Re: Amazing Race 18: Jetting off to the Big Easy without Cutting the Cord

I used to feel a little sorry for her, but after she told him to get in the cart so she could pull him around.... she deserves the worthless crybaby piece of sh1t that he is.

Fun seeing some of those sights tonight. I used to live very near there. We could see the Matterhorn from where we skied.

Re: Amazing Race 18: Jetting off to the Big Easy without Cutting the Cord

I am so sick of that little weasel. Every time I hear his voice I want to punch a hole in my TV where his face would be. As for the Cowboys as sad as I am to see them go, you had to figure they weren't long for this race. I mean how many boneheaded errors can you make before it finally catches up to you? As for the GT's, why force the Cowboys to do the other challenge? They knew they were ahead, that was just cruel. I loved the look on Zev's face during the fondue thing. He looked like Jack Nicholson in The Shining when he was staring out the window drooling. I would think that will be their last eating challenge, that they choose to do anyways. They are clearly the strongest team left now and really can only beat themselves in my opinion.
