Amazing Race 17

Re: Amazing Race 17

I didn't even notice that the doctors wound up the same out-of-the-way as Gary and Mallory. Was that just me not paying attention, or did the editing focus more on G&M and less on N&K?
I didn't notice that either but it makes sense in hindsight.

Very good leg yesterday - it was stressful to watch! My wife and I wanted Chad & Stephanie gone. (Why did she accept his marriage proposal? Does she not see that he is an a-hole?)

Things are starting to get interesting, I hope there is some kind of equalizer because 7 hr is an insane advantage. I am surprised at how strong Jill & Thomas are - but I guess every year there's a Barbie & Ken at the end. I'm still rooting for Team QVC.

Re: Amazing Race 17

I'd imagine they'll have another travel barrier or the like to bring Jill & Thomas back to the pack.

I'm kinda shocked that nobody U-turned Nat & Kat. They strike me as a much more obvious target than Team QVC.

Re: Amazing Race 17

I don't yell at the TV for anything (even sports - ask my wife), but I swore at the Amazing Race not eliminating these clowns.
IIRC, in recent races there has always been a non-elimination leg prior to the cutdown from 4 teams to 3. They probably knew that. If the only penalty is 6 hours for any other leg, why would it be any different for this one? I don't like it either, but I think we all knew it was going to happen.

Yeah, it's kind of ruined the suspense. I guess their rationale is by then all teams have acquired enough of a following that they want to hold that part of the audience for one week more.

I think they should cut the guy and give the girl the cameraman who has had to follow them around as a new partner.

Re: Amazing Race 17

I missed the first 20 minutes of this one due to a DVR snafu. I hate it when people give up. This reminds me of the two Harlem Globetrotters who gave up on a simple challenge a few years back. They won't recover from six hours back unless there is a flight reset, but I don't think there will be since HKG-ICN is a pretty well-trodden route.

Re: Amazing Race 17

Forget about Stephanie dumping Chad, Vicki needs to dump Nick the second the Amazing Race is over for them. If she doesn't, all her friends and family need to stage an intervention. While his attitude towards her & others had seemed to improve, throughout the race everytime anything seems difficult he wants to quit. The minute they have a real problem in real "real life", he's going to be out of there. What a whiny loser. I like her, but if they won (incredibly unlikely anyway), they'd probably last longer, not to mention he'd get part of the prize so I hope they get eliminated next and I really really really hope he makes a dumbass mistake to get them eliminated.

Re: Amazing Race 17

I kind of figured it would be a non elimination leg but I really hoped that they would get the boot. I always have been in favor of having the last non elimination during the final 3 so they can give the final 3 a little bit of time to get ahead or fall behind to have the champion not be determined by the final detour or roadblock.

Re: Amazing Race 17

TAR 18 is going to be an 'All-Stars' (read: second-chance) edition featuring teams from seasons since the last All-Stars race.

Here are the reported teams:

From season 12: Ronald & Christina (second place), Kynt & Vyxsin (fifth)
From season 14: Jamie & Cara (second), Margie & Luke (third), Kisha & Jen (fourth), Mel & Mike (sixth), Amanda & Kris (eighth)
From season 15: Flight Time & Big Easy (fourth), Zev & Justin (ninth)
From season 16: Jet & Cord (second)
From season 17: Gary & Mallory (sixth)

Also, a lot of spoilers can be found here: http://forum.realityfanforum.com/index.php/topic,23691.0.html

That last site is a little crazy. People see/report sightings of ongoing races and in some cases follow contestants, etc.

Re: Amazing Race 17

From season 17: Gary & Mallory (sixth)

That's an interesting selection. I'm assuming that they'd rather not spoil Brooke and Claire or Nat and Kat either way (or one or both declined), because both of those pairs would be compelling returnees and probably more competitive. That having been said, Gary & Mallory are the most likeable of the recent eliminations.

VERY excited about the return of Flight Time & Big Easy.

Re: Amazing Race 17

So I am very glad that with how far they were behind and the 6 hour penalty Team Tattoo missed the flight the other teams were on. if after all the crap they did last week they had met up with everybody at the airport and only had to do the speed bump I would have been mad.

And barring something really shocking, they're going to get demolished because of the delay. The biggest error anybody's made is B&C hopping a taxi to get to the ice rink, which is still only going to cost them 30 minutes (minus the time they gained by doing it, which judging by how they caught up to J&T, is not insubstantial).

Re: Amazing Race 17

Not a whole lot of suspense this week as Team Tattoo was never in it. Pretty good odds that the first all female will win.

I was glad they were never in it. They didn't deserve to be after quitting last episode. Of course, they had the gall to start off this leg but saying "we're not going to quit...we're going to race hard...yada...yada...yada". I'm pulling the the shopping girls....they seem to have the most fun. I never really warmed to the doctors and Thomas seems like a slimy guy to me (I don't know why) and his gf has left no meaningful impression. I was hoping for a 2 hour finale, but that won't be the case. It sounds like they'll be making the formal announcement of AR All-Stars for the next version.

Every year there is a boring team that is very effective. I'm calling Jill & Thomas as the winners. They don't fight, are fit, and don't make mistakes. I'm rooting for Brook & Claire, though.

Same here. But I'd love to see the brothers (who I believe won it all) come back too. Those two teams had some sparks.

I was so glad that happened. I was almost certain that they would all have to be on the same flight. But, good!

I think that Brook and Claire will win it. I hope they do. Remember, all teams will most likely have a flight delay.
